Would it be possible for you to inform me of how many users belong to the Amiga Arts forum? Thank you. Joe Costa
FastGif is a very good, B&W Gif previewer. It is the fastest Ive ever seen on my 500. ViewTek is supposedly the way to go for 2.0+ users. Amgif is a time consuming but reliable way to convert Iff to Gif. All these files are available on the Graphics Utilities…
Ed, I've figure different ways of getting the same results under 1.3 than using ViewTek, just had to look around. Deluxe Paint stills runs under 1.3 so Im plenty happy with it, I dont see the point in upgrading the OS if the rest of the computer is still the…
#ViewTek & 1.3
Message #44007
I would like to know if ViewTek 2.1 is AmigaDOS 1.3 friendly before I download the 400k file. (VTEK.lha). Thank you. Joe Costa
Rick, I used the Fidonet on a couple of local BBS, and really liked the number of responses, I just need to find another local board with Fidonet. I had to make long distance calls to use it before, and it was costing me almost as much as C-serve… One…
ROFL, Rick…sounds like my first car…reminds me of the frequent trips to the junkyard I used to take. Btw, you might know this: Can I use Mac Simms (1×8) on my GVP A500-HD+? I heard that GVP boards need special Simms, If so, do you know what kind/pin configuration they…
No prob Robert, glad to help. Joe Costa
I paid $120 for my A501 and $600 + tax for my 52mb (49mb really) GVP HD+ with 2meg Ram…A month later they released the HD+ Turbo with the 40 mhz '030, saw it listed for the same price I paid for my plain controller…talk about frustration. Thanks for the…
Now where's my chainsaw…. Thanks for the info. Joe Costa
Robert, I also use a 1.3 based A500 and would be glad to send you some software to make your life easier. E-mail me your address where I can send you NCOMM 2.0 and some other software to get you started. Welcome to the world of Amiga! Joe Costa
Well, my 500 has proved to be fairly reliable so far (Hardware-wise anyway.) And (Knock on wood…(C= exec's heads would do.)) the patient will survive the operation. Now, for 2.0 are there any extra steps required past plucking the old ROM's and putting in the new ones? Thanks. Joe Costa
Thanks Rick, all that's left now is for me to locate said 1 meg Agnus chip… My local dealer (Local as in a 50 mile radius…) wants 60 bucks for the thing… So I'll try my luck with mail order. Joe Costa
Im not sure what revision my 500 is, with my luck it will be rev. 5… Joe Costa

Thanks Jim, I'll have a look and try to locate everything before the butchery starts. Joe Costa
Jim, thanks for the reply! I had my 500 apart today to fix my Disk drive's eject button and got to wondering about the Agnus swap. If you (Or anyone reading this) could tell me right tweakings to bbe done I would assume full responsability for any damage that may…

#NCOMM Help!
Message #163196
Greetings, Im cureently using NCOMM 2.0 to reach C-serve on my 1.3 based A500, I used Backtalk for about a year and it worked great, but my Hard Disk went ga ga and I had to reformat it, so I no longer have Backtalk. My problem is that I cant…

Its a nice stereo effect actually, my Hard disk in one side and my empty disk drive clicking away (kind of like a baby bird begging for food) in the other. Down right annoying if I think about it. Oh, I can forget to mention the cooling fan in the…
My GVP A500-HD+ sounds like it has intestinal problems… Joe Costa
It blew my mind away when I saw that ad! first piece of C= advertizing outside an Amiga related media since the "Juggler" TV ads from 87!
I've already forgotten about Commodore since 1988…The Amiga will never die, tho, look at the hellish time that the original A1000 owners had back in 1985 and how far we have gotten today. I think there's still hope.
IFF to GIF HELP!
Message #37883
I need to convert some Hi-res 16 color IFFs to GIF format. Is there any… shareware/PD programs that anybody out there would recommend for use with an A500 with 1.3 , 512k chip and 2.5MB fast? I've had several problems with Pack and Rend24. Any help will be appreciated. Joe…
Bob, I have a 1992 copy of AC's guide to the commodore Amiga that lists a device called KB-Talker that allows you to use an AT keyboard on any Amiga (Up to the 3000). It allows you to switch IBM and Amiga keymaps on the fly, no software involved.(According to…
I see what you mean Dale, but wouldn't it be intersesting if you could treat the whole CD32 as a scsi device (If a scsi could be made to use the CD32's expansion slot) so any SCSI capable Amiga could run all its functions. Altough older ROM's probably wouldn't like…
#CD32 Networking
Message #128437
Would it be possible to network a CD32 with another amiga not only as a CD player but as a node? (being it is a full A1200). It would seem to be a waste if it was hooked up to another amiga only for its CD capabilties. Also it would…
Don, I will try that, and let you know what comes up. Thanks for the help. // \X/ Joe Costa.
