jOHN…You may be aware but there are SCSI interfaces that hook up to a parallel port allowing use on a laptop. I have connected CD drives and hard drives to my Gateway laptop using the Trantor T348 interface. You're right, it's quite cool. Be seeing you. -Larry

Brian…If it's any consolation, I have also been unable to get MusicBox (or any other CDAudio player) to work with my Texel 5024. I've been meaning to call Texel about it. Tell me if you come up with any miracles in the meantime. -Larry

Neil…Work Lib has 950 classic works (all of Shakespeare, all of Poe…). There are DOS and Windows versions (MAC??). It has a good search engine but lacks hypertext browsing. The only app that I have using Viewer is Cinemania, and I agree with your comments. Even though it's essentially a…

Their catalog is about 1500 pages with semiconductors, cables, sockets, and all kinds of other neat toys. I have an NYC number for them (212-962-0869) but they may have one that's closer to you.…

From: Larry Land CDROM Forum · General June 2, 1993 5:23 PM
Lee…Welcome! I can certainly recommend the system I am using on my 486DX now. The Texel 5024 external (the 3024 is internal) has an access time under 300mS and transfer speed of 300KB/sec, just about the fastest around. It is a SCSI unit and can be had for under $600…

From: Larry Land CDROM Forum · Multimedia May 19, 1993 5:21 PM
Jack…I don't know about the architecture of the PAS but it would seem that the bottleneck would be the bus interface. I agree that MediaVision made a good decision including the SCSI over some proprietary interface. Even with my Trantor it's nice to know that I have a spare port…

Gary…I called Texel and they told me that as of a couple of months ago the 3025/5024 is multisession photo-CD compatable. There is even a sheet included with the drive stating that. I've had it for a couple of weeks and it is (IMHO) the best thing since sliced bread.…

#48254 Caddy Message #48307
From: Larry Land CDROM Forum · General May 13, 1993 5:14 PM
