3/4" also does better in multi-generations than either Hi8 or S-VHS. So, a copy that comes from a tape mastered on 3/4" may actually look better than a copy of a tape mastered on either Hi8 or S-VHS. Barb

Keith: As a long-time Video professional (How long? When I began my video career at ABC News in New York as an assistant to the assignment desk, 2" videotape reels were just beginning to lose their popularity), I would not mind paying $35 to $40 (or more) for a book…

Alan: I'm always interested in finding out about more about fellow video producers from around the world. Would you share some of your experiences with clients, the types of markets that are most receptive to video in France, most popular equipment choices, etc. You can either reply here, or e-mail…
Alan: Actually, I've been promising myself a trip back to France since I was last there in 1984. It's about time, don't you think? And yes, you always have an open invitation to visit our studios here in the States. Barb

Arnie: Welcome to the DTV forum. I too started my video business thanks to Visa (and several other plastic friends). I wish I'd been on this forum when I first started. It would have saved me lots of money and I could have avoided a lot of mistakes. I'd like…
Aloha, Mel… The latest issue of VIDEO FILE just went to the printer. As soon as it's back I'll rush you a copy along with subscription information. Thanks for your interest. Barbara
John: Thanks for creating this topic. As publisher of a national newsletter targeting video entrepreneurs, one observation I make over and over again is that most independent video producers spend too much time and money on equipment and production and not enough on marketing their services. If these producers put…
Francis: VIDEO FILE will be on its way across the pond tomorrow. Thanks for your interest. Barbara

I think we might have something here… let's see how many more ideas we can come up with. Barb
David: About the Barney/poop issue… I think you're missing out on a wonderful SIV opportunity. Could you just imagine the market you'd have for that tape? And visuals would be no problem at all… you can even introduce smell-o-vision. Wow, imagine the possibilities 🙂 B.
I'm plenty of fun.. and I have lots of toys to show for it. I also have lots of free time to enjoy them, and I take lots of days off to have fun doing other things 🙂 Barb
Reg: A sample issue of VIDEO FILE will be on its way to you today. Thanks for your interest. I also think you'll enjoy being a member of the APV. I'm on the advisory panel and am the Special Interest Video liason to the APV. Barbara

Toys are great… but if you invest your money in marketing your business and finding clients before you buy too many toys, you'll not only make enough money to pay for those toys, you'll have enough left over to play and not have to work so much. Barb
Jim: Always remember that when people ask you to shoot something for them, even if you don't have top of the line equipment, your skills, time, and talent are still worth charging for. Barb
Jim: If its income opportunities you're looking for, we need to talk. Why is it that video producers insist on buying equipment first… before having a solid business plan as to what they're going to do to justify buying the equipment in the first place? Barb
Michael: Sample issues of VIDEO FILE and subscription information will be on their way to you today. I'm sending the same to Russ. Thanks for your interest. Barbara

Jim: I'd like to make a suggestion about edit controllers for the AG-1960. Before investing in the Panasonic model, check out the Future Video line of edit controllers. They make a couple that are compatible with the AG-1960s/70s and give much better frame accuracy. Regards, Barbara A. Besteni, Publisher VIDEO…
Stu: The business of teaching and motivating video entrepreneurs is going very well, thank God. It's been an uphill battle, however, mostly because video folks are naturally creative… and they leave the business side of their businesses on the back burner until they feel they have all the equipment necessary…

I'd like to stick my two cents worth concerning VIDEO PRO magazine. If the premiere issue is any indication, I think Videomaker (who up till now has pretty much cornered the desktop video market) will get a run for its money. I've had a few dealings with the folks at…
