I liked the black leather motorcycle jacket, but missed the long white gloves. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
I'll do it if I can submit a metaballs rendering of what I'd like to look like. If it has to be a real picture — naaah. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems P.S. — Nice "Wanted" poster. David was handing them out to a bunch of Australian guys at the…
Call Autodesk at (415)332-2344, and ask to talk to the regional multimedia sales manager for your area. But, FWIW, it's not all that easy to become a 3DS dealer. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
That's what I wondered. How do you make the mapping work when a new mesh is generated each frame? Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Yep — an absolute knock out. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
The first thing to do is download PDIAL.TXT, Peter Kaminski's list of public Internet dial up sites. You can find the file through the IBMFF (IBM File Finder). The version on CompuServe is not the newest, but the file gives an address where you can get the newest version. You…

Can you model that, and send a PRJ file for me to render? Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Get two accounts. One in Worchester, and one in Brisbane. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Congratulations are in order. Good thing you didn't move to Australia. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
What do you charge for the Avalon CD? Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Hey, I'm not going to be a referee here. They tend to get beaten up by both sides. All I'm asking is that you don't leave any blood on the floor of the forum. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Possibly Kevin Krell [CSA] 76077,2774 can help you. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
International might be hard. In any case, you'd get a shell account from a local provider, and publish it as your main email address. Get a new account wherever you go, and telnet to your main email address to pick up mail. Where do you think your most common addresses…
Denise: Sounds frustrating. Your dealer should be trying to help you, instead of passing the buck. Where are you located? Maybe we can find a good dealer in your neighborhood. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
I've found that the CompuServe FTP service works quite nicely for getting into vislab. Of course, it's more expensive than most other methods.
Please, don't be so mean-spirited. If you thing Aleskey is factually wrong, tell him — and tell him where he is mistaken. Saying that he looks "foolish" does nothing to help further anyone's understanding.
Recently, I saw a british member use "IANAFL".

I think GIG runs on Suns.
The chip was developed especially for Razor, so I guess DPS doesn't figure that everyone else needs it. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Paul: You don't have it. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Paul: I'm not in front of my PAR (It's Saturday, as you know), so I may be of marginal help today. As a general rule. I try to minimize conflicts when installing new equipment. That means checking for I/O and IRQ conflicts. I suspect you have such a conflict. In…
Joe: Possibly you could upload a copy of your LISP routine here. The natives would be forever grateful. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
We've output a lot of ACIS models to 3DS at the office recently, but the ACIS entities are not nested in a block. If I remember right, you wrote an automatic block explosion program years ago, didn't you? Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Hey Joe — Did you stop by the office to pick up the AutoCAD R13c1 update disks? Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
Call me at (602)230-0383, and I'll get you on the list. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
I think the next meeting is next Monday. Darrin? Paul? Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
On the local news tonight, they showed a clip of a person walking out to a Bronco (I think – it was pretty quick.) The clip had a dial-type clock in one corner of the screen. They attributed the work to some software company in Gilbert, AZ. Was it actually…
Scott: You've heard from a few ofthe 3DS characters in Phoenix. I'm the local 3DS dealer. Feel free to call me at 230-0383. Bring in a demo tape this week, and I may be able to pass some work your way. Evan Yares, Design Automation Systems
#Image Processing R4
Message #135286
I am trying to run a dealer copy of the Image Processing Routines for 3D studio with Release 4. The machine is a 486 DX4 with 32 megs of RAM running HIMEM.SYS for upper memory management. I can only successfully get the processes to run with a render display configured…
#Logo Contest
Message #127434
Gary: A few of us are (finally) starting a Phoenix 3DS users group — 3DS-PHX. We're having a logo contest for the group, and would like you to judge it. All you gotta do is pick a winner. It'll be December before the contest will be over. Can you do…
I'm just a generous guy. I've been on the road a lot — about 3 days a week. But it's paid consulting, so who can complain. Evan Yares
I'll do it for that price. So long as you buy every hour on the machine for the next 24 months. Evan Yares
Robert: Is this the same factory sealed 3D Studio that you advertised here in May, June, and July, and for which you received numerous responses? Evan
Sanford: The simple reality is that ray tracing is time consuming. Accurender is a very fast ray tracer — but, unless you limit the levels of recursion, it just takes time to work. If you can find a ray tracer which, given similar settings, is more than marginally faster than…
David: I have a good lead for you — which I'll pass on tomorrow, when the person calls me back. Evan
Sample drawings
Message #120177
A major plotter manufacturer is looking for sample images to show off their new plotter. If you've done some really interesting work with 3DS, please consider submitting your work. You'll receive fame, acclaim, and honor, and will also get poster size photorealistic reproduction of your work. Evan
Forensic Animators
Message #119181
A large publishing concern has started a division which develops and distributes CD ROM based medical titles. These are typically used by doctors for training. This company is looking for 3D artists with forensic animation experience. If you have this kind of experience in your portfolio, send me some email,…
I don't even know what the term means, so how can I be offended?
Let's see if anyone else is interested. I still have a spare section or two, but would not want to go to the work of flagging a bunch of people for membership if everyone was apathetic to the idea.
Some forums do not allow *any* messages in foreign languages, specifically to prevent problems with inappropriate "colloquialisms." This is a family forum — in any language.

ADGUID.TXT is in the libraries. You can download it by its name. Evan Yares
No, I don't think our legal system is ready for cyberspace. Not even close. But remember, anyone with $80 in their pocket can sue anyone else, and make them spend a lot of money on defense. Evan
>I'd really love to see Joe M. or Evan Y. cut loose a "Blow it out your >…" message. I can't do that here. I'm a 3DS dealer, and don't want to upset the folks at Autodesk who run the forum. And, the truth be known, I'd rather not raise…
Their software is nice, but it uses ray tracing, and is not very fast. Evan
There is a difference between attacking Autodesk, 3D Studio, or other institutions, and attacking an individual. The difference is called Libel. And, if Autodesk allows one forum member to libel another with impunity, they may become a party to a legal action. Evan
Well, this thing has taken on a life of its own, hasn't it? The point I was trying to make, and which I didn't do a good job of, was that it is possible to write messages which are extremely, er, effective — without ever resorting to a personal attack.…
Bill: You just need to learn how to flame without actually attacking someone. Let me explain — there are always several ways of saying things. For example: "You're a real idiot, why don't you read the manual?" or "It is covered in the manual. That's the paper thing that came…
Mike: If you upload it to the library here, with Jonas's name, there will be no charge. Evan
Roger: I think I know what happened. Between the time you read Zampella's message, and the time you responded, his message was moved to Section 0 (S0). If you used an automatic message reader to reply, your reply followed his original message — right into S0. In short, nobody moved…
