No problem. If you need any details on the format (or .FLX format) just let me know. Oh yea, one more detail about SS2 compression. Autodesk defines operation bytes in each compressed packet. They define a opcode of < 0 to mean copy WORDS and > 0 to mean replicate…

I've seen a similar flc problem in other programs on the PC. I think it was related to two things. First there is a field in the header that should be set to 3 (I think it's 3). This field is used to determine if the flc was closed properly…

My toaster cooks bread, pop-tarts, waffles, and has enough channels to handle 4 inputs that are not time base corrected. Very simple user interface, but does not support ARexx. It has a control to adjust the amount of effect you want, and all output is in true color! And it…

What would be real hot is to put the Amiga on a card and add a bus extender (so Amiga cards can be added in an external box). Then sell it to PC users as a graphic adapter that runs all existing Amiga software. Make the card for around $450…

I hear ya. I for one don't use or care about the Toaster. However it seems that it's the one big reason the Amiga is still around. And I don't think it's because of Lightwave since there are better 3D packages around that run on other platforms.

Lately the only thing I use the Amiga for is Midi and going online. Soon I'll be switching from Bars & Pipes Pro to Cakewalk (much better program). The only reason I use the Amiga to go online is because I didn't get a good term for the PC, and…

Sam, I agree. And Video Profesionals are not the people that buy a lot of computers. Mr. and Mrs. average are the ones we needed to sell a lot of Amigas. Else the Amiga will be nothing more than a Toaster machine (until someone puts out OldTek).

True. They also need to get Amigas and Amiga software in the same big software stores that carry thousands of PC and Mac products! If you knew nothing about computers, and went to the store to get one, would you get one that has NO (or very little) software and…

That may be true for some older ports. However, I think the Amiga will not make it unless there is more new software released. And to get more of the latest software you need machines sold that have AGA+ graphics, more RAM, more storage, a CDROM, etc.). How many Amigas…

You can do it in a lot less than 1000 lines. But thats not the point. I'm NOT saying Windoze is better. Nothing like that. What I am saying is that there is a lot of software, and there are a lot of developers that are needed to create Amiga…

I agree that Windows don't compare to the Amiga OS, however the idea is to get developers to develop (or keep them developing) for the Amiga. Without software, the Amiga is of no use. To do this, you need good tools, and very good developer support! Something the Commodore never…

David, You may also want to make sure there are no BIOS conflicts with the Adaptec card. Check your CMOS settings and make sure you are not stepping on memory with shadow ram (that may be used by a ROM on the Adaptec) or other CMOS settings (i.e. if you…

I agree! Someday people will wise up and stop buying on impulse. I don't rely on reviews or dealer advice, I need to see it run first hand. Take a look at some of the latest PC games for instance… "Myst", "Dracula" (the one by Viacom), all the magazine reviews…

John, I agree with most of what you say. I own a lot of software for both my PC and Amiga. Some of this software was very expensive. I have no problem with that as long as the software fit the purpose I bought it for. On the other hand,…

Alex, I think developers should get paid for their work. I work for one, if they lose money, so do I. I also feel that when you buy something, it should work on the system the box said it will work on. If it don't, you get your money back,…

Jeff, The second suggestion is not that good. Anyone that's good with a debugger (and there are a lot of good debuggers on the PC) can crack the code no matter what you do. There are some very interesting threads in the IBMPRO libs that go over a lot of…

A little off the subject, but… I'm pretty sure that "Sandy's Circus" artwork was created and animated using an Amiga. There may be other CD-i titles that also use ami for artwork other than video clips.

I would have put more thought into a commercial dos extender. We used Rational (DPMI compliant) on a job we just finished. The program uses the Flat memory model, the full blown dos4g extender, fully supports VESA, it even plays 8 bit sound samples. We have no problems under OS/2…
