Don, there is a "Reassign Blocks" command (07h). This can be used to "map out" bad sectors without reformating. Actually, it replaces sectors from reserves. Craig
Depends on how easily and cheaply you can get a dedicated mac drive and software, and whether or not you can read the density of Mac disk you get. Besides, a used mac can server other purposes.

You may think I am kidding, but buying a used Mac Classic or SE and using Apple File Exchange to copy mac files to MS-DOS disks may be the easiest way to do the exchange.

It does sound like it could be a failure of some kind with the FFV unit. Connecting a monitor to the standard RGB port would be a good way to tell if it is a seating problem. Calling tech support Monday and checking with Chris would be a good idea.
The custom chips in the Amiga actually address and access chip ram themselves, not using the CPU. MMU remapping only affects memory accesses through the CPU.

FFV is fully compatible with the ECS. Productivity mode does not come out the FFV output, but it is still available on the computer's RGB port. Nothing else has ever been stated or implied. Craig
I believe the suggested retail for FFV is $299, but I am not positive. It should be available for less. It fits in any Amiga, automatically switches between NTSC and PAL, and gets rid of interlace flicker. Craig

The power supplies Commodore has been shipping for the past few years are switching ones. Basically, if your power supply feels like it is full of lead, it is the older linear one. If it feels like an empty plastic box, it is a newer switching one. Craig
