>a fun way to deal with an insane situation.< >My ribs hurt! Thanks!!< That's pretty much what I thought. No one following this situation very closely would have taken this too seriously (I hope). A little levity never hurt anyone 😉 Greg
There are 87A and 89A GIFs but I'm not sure why PP4.1 won't load some. Let me know if those programs can't be found. They're probably in AmigaArts forum. If not I'll upload them. Greg
George, I don't know if you have an ECS or AGA machine. However FASTGIF is a very good and fast gif viewer. On ECS machines it will view them in hi-res greyscale which is often the best way to do it on older Amigas. FASTVIEW will give a nice color…
Gary, Yes, that was quite a nice little quote in there. I had to chuckle a bit to myself when I read it. It's nice to know that we're still being listened to occasionally. It's amazing how a machine with the tremendous graphics and processing power of the average Pentium…
I have to agree. I just can't buy the "conspiracy" theory. That someone high up in the publishing biz somehow has a beef against the Amiga and wants to stamp out any comeback attempt. As an AW subscriber I'm upset about this too but I don't see how it could…
Well, I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure it's just a startup-sequence problem but of course that wouldn't be a reason to reformat. I guess I just don't know exactly what I'm going to face so I'm trying to be prepared for anything. Reformatting is a last resort.…
#A2000HD Formatting
Message #185784
I have a friend that just bought an A2000HD with 60 meg hard drive. Although I haven't seen it yet he is having problems that sound as if they are related to the startup-sequence. I am going up Sunday to have a look at it and if I can't sort…
Adam, Muchmore is a PD textviewer available here and just about everywhere else. It's very popular and a lot of textfiles use it as their default tool. You can either change the default tool to whatever you like to use to view text or just download muchmore and put it…
I have to say I agree. As an American user I've pretty much had my fill of being ignored. This waiting game has already gone on far too long IMHO. If at the end of it I hear "Sorry folks, we've gotta cater to the Euro Donkey Kong market first…
David, What are your terminal settings for Compuserve on JRComm and what transfer protocol are you using? I used to use JRComm for CIS and it was pretty successful. The settings on your terminal program have to match up with the settings you have on CIS. If you do get…
>Dang! Another three weeks! Will this thing ever end??!!< Probably not! At this points I've seen so many deadlines, false reports of sales, rumors, and "we'll definitely know one way or the other by this date" posts that I'm pretty much numb to it by now. As when Commodore was…
Len, (Greg says butting in where he probably doesn't belong) you need to CD to the directory where your LHA is at so that it can be executed as an AmigaDos command. For instance, if the file you want to decompress is in RAM: you should type….. cd WORK:compress (or…

Len, What are the name of these files exactly? If they are compression/decomp. files they are probably self extracting. You can usually tell by the file suffix.
Matt, make sure and install arp library in your LIBS directory.
Don't forget Hamlab +. A very good shareware conversion prog.
#No Access?
Message #36756
I have been on CIS about a year and a half. When I logged into the library here the other day I noticed that library 17 no longer appeared in my list of librarys. When I typed it in it said that I was not authorized to access that library.…
I seem to have the same problem. I have a Supra Fax modem and CIS immediately hangs up on me when I connect unless I first issue a AT\N command to disable data compression. It is not a software problem since I have used a multitude of different programs with…
Thank you. You wouldn't believe how long I've been trying to find that out!
#SCSI device address
Message #98245
I downloaded RDPrep and I need to change the tooltypes so that it will recognize my GVP A-500 hard drive. The SCSI device # of the drive is 0 but I don't know exactly what to type in the tooltypes box so that the program will address the device. Any…
Workbench seems to recognize them alright but I have trouble with Directory Opus and especially the Commodore 2.1 HD backup program. It won't use a single disk I feed it.
#2.1 formatting
Message #94313
Is anyone having trouble formatting floppies under 2.1? It seems that whether I use workbench or shell or any other program that formats, with or without FFS the disk usually has a bunch of errors and is not recognized as a dos disk. I have used two different drives for…

I am using a-talk 3 and I need to be able to start the program up in shared mode to use the compuserve-b protocol. I cannot seem to figure out how to do this. Is there anywhere I can find out how this is done?

I am using atalk 3 and want to use the Compuserve B protocol. The manual says that I have to open atalk in shared mode and I cannot figure out how to do this. Does anyone know how this is done?
