#Single 8bit palette? Message #192819
From: Jack Walsh Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk Animator September 27, 1995 11:06 AM
How can someone generate an 8bit(256 color) palette file to use in another application using Animator Studio? I have .tgas and need to create a palette file for use in another program. It needs to be a single image at 256×256. A .bmp file would work great. Any help would…
#191405 PAR access on WIN95 Message #191537
From: Jack Walsh Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Hware/OpSys/video September 18, 1995 11:14 PM
Very True, it is only eye candy. I've reinstalled Win3.1X(what an ordeal!) and everything is working great again. Razor Pro is a fantastic piece of software and I didn't want to give it up. I want to apologize for my tirade but Win 95 basically sucks and was very frustrated.…
#190568 PAR access on WIN95 Message #190628
From: Jack Walsh Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Hware/OpSys/video September 13, 1995 10:52 AM
So I'm doomed to Windows 3.11 to get any sound triggering or to use Razor Pro w/ the PAR? Is my only choice to buy a PVR and Razor MACH3 and run it in NT, a very substantial investment? Not to mention it will be very difficult to find someone…

Alex, Are you able to have sound play when triggering the PAR with Media Player in Win95? Do you use Razor Pro w/ Win95 and does it access your PAR drive files? These are a couple of problems I haven't been able to solve. Any help would be appreciated. Jack

Thanks Don I'll give it a try. Though I'm considering moving back to WFWG3.11 just because most of my graphics software works! Jack
#189975 #PAR access on WIN95 Message #190036
From: Jack Walsh Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Hware/OpSys/video September 9, 1995 6:16 PM
Does anyone following this thread use Razor Pro with Win95 and the PAR? What I've found is that the PAR MCI driver that worked so well in Win 3.11 does not work at all now in 95, Razor Pro still works but can't access any files from the PAR drive(Mic2210A).…

Does anyone know if there is an upgrade for 1.0x users? Jack
The way to extend the last frame your talking about is by using the freeze frame effect on the frame and stretch it out to the time frame needed. OR split the frame using the DOS editing program that comes with the PAR. This will create a single frame .ani…
Virtual Siggraph Booth Message #183398

Did anyone get the opportunity to build a virtual booth for Siggraph? You know, the kind where you stand in front of a large projection screen and it looks like an awesome booth and you think: Is that real? 🙂 JW

#176855 #PAR Backup Sftwr Message #176882
Hi Angelo, What's worked for me is I export my PAR .ani files using the PAR DOS software(1.50) off to my HD and then back off to DAT using Conner Back-up Exec. It does work as I restored a PAR animation from my DAT yesterday and then imported it to…
Is there anyone out there who could give me information on the job market and pay scaie in the Portland area. I'm a 3D animator currently working in the Southern California area and I'm seriously concedering relocating to this area. Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jack
#175472 3DS vs Electric Image Message #175524
You had said you purchased a 'NURBS' IPAS for 3DS? Can you tell me where I can pick it up at?
#174857 #NT FYI . . . Message #174910
Hi James, You didn't say in your install report to the masses if you had 3DS up and running. If so let us know if it works and what problems you encountered.
#164118 #Backing up Par Message #164330
Gary, The way I've been backing up my PAR has been to export one .ani file(PAR native) to my computers HD and then back it up to my 4mm DAT. To put it back on, I back it off the DAT to my computers HD, optimize the PAR drive(VERY IMPORTANT)…
Steve, Where did you find the MCI flic driver? I'd like to d/l a copy. Thanks, Jack
#162149 #3DS/NT: CANCELLED! Message #162174
Nice try, April fools!!! You can keep dreaming Ana! 3DS on NT will pretty much take over the industry within a few years. The MAC will die, as will it's decade old OS that has more bugs than OS2! Well, maybe not that many, but you get the picture. TTYL,…
#161927 Electric Image Info Message #162173
Are you saying Electric Image is writing an IPAS routine for 3DS??? If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!! E.I. just doesn't cut it against 3DS, even though it costs thousands more and has no modeler to speak of, and you can only have one camera in any scene and…
#161777 3DS4 vs TrueSpace Message #162172
Nor is the animation module! Not to mention the renderer, from what I've seen, is pretty poor also. I'd put my $795 into IPAS routines or another drive for my PAR!! Jack

TBruno, Yes, it can read/write directly to the PAR, something Premiere 4.0 can not do. No, it can't output dirctly to a video deck, it's just editing software. Output to VHS is managed by another device, like the PAR. JACK
#160131 #Razor Pro Message #160878
Adrew, I'm using a 486/66 w/ 32MB RAM and a large HD. I just finished a 2:30 video presentation for a local client of mine. I had no problems w/ RP at all. The transitions and FX seem to be totally flexible, though the orientation effect could use better anti-aliasing…

Todd, Razor Pro works great w/ the PAR and you can sync sound with it AND play everything back w/ the Win mediaplayer! Transjammer transitions also work w/ RP. Tried Premiere 4, not that flexible w/ FX, mostly canned. That's my 2 cents. Jack

David, I don't know what you've been shipped or how you've installed RP, but my version(an upgrade) works great! Links all the sound w/MCI drivers, transitions and FX work great. Reads and writes .ani files and I can mix and match different animation file types(.tga, .ani, .avi) all to make…

From: Jack Walsh Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Hware/OpSys/video February 20, 1995 10:55 PM
Well, for one, jpeg is a (radically) compressed format that if looked at carefully you can see artifacts. RazorPro interfaces directly with the DPS PAR which uses its own proprietary jpeg algo. If you tried to put these two formats together you would get double compression that would look terrible!…
#RAZOR PRO vs premiere Message #152077
From: Jack Walsh Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Hware/OpSys/video February 9, 1995 10:26 PM
A few observations about Razor Pro and Premiere 4.0: 1. Premiere has virtually no customer support. In:sync/RazorPro bend over backwards to provide customer service. 2. RazorPro's .wav playback is much quieter than Premiere. Though I dindn't put a scope to them, you can hear the difference, i.e. increased noise levels…

Gary, I'm looking forward to the next release of 3DS, the scuttlebutt is that it's going to once again revolutionize the industry. Now that I have your ear, could you please incorporate bending and IK(no IPAS) in the keyframer with no morph targets, selective ray-tracing in the renderer, loadable 256k…

Scott, I purchased Warp recently. I have a Diamond Viper w/P9000 chip 2meg version. Though Warp runs fine, as do all my Windoze apps, 3DS will not run. The Vibrant drivers return an error saying it can't make a BIOS call to my board!? Is there anything you know of…

Jamie, Is there anything you can recommend in the meantime? Aren't most sound capture software packages Windows based? Seems Soundblaster is about the most popular card out today. If I can't use it, what can I use that does work through Windows, considering Razor Pro is Windows based and I…

Jamie, I get white noise whenever I 'record' a .wav file using the Creative Labs(Soundblaster) Wavestudio software that is supplied with the SB16. I only have the PCM driver enabled in the Windows control panel. The ADPCM drivers are both disabled. The same exact .wav file plays back perfectly in…

Hi Jamie, Does Razor also support Photoshop plug-ins? What audio capture software do you recommend? When I use my Soundblaster 16 with its Wavestudio software and the ADPCM options are disabled in the soundmapper area of the Windows control panel, I still get nothing but white noise. BTW, the PCM…
