#5183 Syquest Amiga -> PC Message #5202
The same mountlist info is in my WB 2.1 manual (i.e. the 88MB syquest example), if memory serves. I know I've seen it, and I'm only running 2.1/3.0. Steve Image Dynamics, Inc.

Martin, I do not have WB3.1. I don't recall seeing a sample mountlist in the previous versions. But still you should not format the hard drive under Amiga DOS (or has that changed also). Joe Maulucci >>> MotionCLIPS, CD-ROM Voice: 716 881-5215 BBS/FAX: 716 882-1774

Joe, Not true about the AmigaDOS version of CrossDOS only handling floppies (at least for WB3.1). There's very little documentation (in the WB3.1 manual), but I've got my old 44MB Syquest working fine with MSDOS formatted cartridges. I use a PC version of LHA to archive blocks of image files…

Robert, There is a product on the Amiga side called CrossDOS which will allow you to read and write SyQuest 88s — I do it all the time. Contact the manufacture: Consultron 8959 Ridge Rd Plymonth, MI 48170 USA 313 459-7271 cstron@m-net.arbornet.org BTW — the version of CrossDOS that came…

I am also searching for such a package and saw the very end of "Next Step" on the Discovery channel that demonstrated a package that meets the needs. The only problem is that the package's name and source was not repeated at the end of the program. I have posted…
#1533 PAR Problem? Message #1588
Steve, Is 3/2 pull down converting 2 exabyte input frames to 3 PAR playback frames? If so, assuming the exabyte frames are in order 1,2,3…x, could you tell the PAR board when it is importing frames, two first import every other frame twice, and then the _other_ frame once. Theoretically…

John, To answer your last question first. Yes I am missing the Amiga :-{, I still have my genlock and titling software and video director from my old Amiga. So the cheapest solution for me is to go buy another Amiga :-} . Thanks anyway for all your info at…
#1520 How to CG with PC? Message #1542
I have only seen the supergen once. From what I recall it was not bad. The VGA Producer Pro was at least as good if not better. ABC uses it routinely, as does HBO for titling. I use it for educational videotapes (teaching how to get into multimedia and DTV…
#1533 PAR Problem? Message #1537
From: Ken McNamara Desktop Video Forum · Paint-Animation-CG January 4, 1995 1:36 PM
Is it possible that the PAR compression algorithm is causing the problem? Are there settings for the algorithm that are letting it do some sort of off the wall frame averaging? Can you change the number of keyframes? Have you considered playing back at 16FPS? Whatever the answer I hope…
#PAR Problem? Message #1533

Hey, we are doing a traditional animation (drawn) using digital ink & paint. We are using our PAR board to compile the frames from Exabyte. The project is animated at 24FPS and is being transferred to Exabyte using 3/2 pulldown for video. When we play back the compiled animation, we…

James: Thanks for the reference to your review; it is informative and helpful. My next question is: at it's best, how does the Produce Pro compare to the output quality of an Amiga w/ supergen. Thanks for your help. Regards, Tom

Take a look at VGAPRO.TXT in Library 2 of this forum. Over a year ago I reviewed a number of PC video output cards with genlock functions. The Magni VGA Producer Pro is my current recommendation. It will handle what you are looking for and features an external remote control…

OK, call me old fashioned. We do a lot of linear editing in SVHS and Beta, using an MX-50 for effects and an Amiga with Supergen and Broadcast Titler for CG. Someday, my Amiga may break down, and the thought occurred to me that we better have a back up.…
#1399 Corel for CG Message #1441
Hi Ken, >>>Sounds like Inscriber would be a good solution but I'm afraid the VM tapped out our budget. If any one can suggest the best way to make the most of Corel in this situation please let me know.

Our Church just bought a FAST video machine to help with a local broadcast. I have been trying to use Corel 3.0 to generate the CG. Although the output is far better than our old chyron, some of the the colors tend to bleed and crawl. I've read that I…

Thanks John, Yes I am missing the Amiga, but only for the DTV. I use the PC fro work and boy is it an improvement on the word processor front. I still have my genlock and SCALA 500 titling software with video director for the Amiga so as a hobbiest…

Duane, Thanks for the input. I have a package on the system called Curtain Call that came with a GVP GLock and at least it is windows based, compared to the other "cg" I have, Prime Time, which is only DOS based. But, after using Inscriber on the Alladin, I…

I have been using the VM Studio for about two months with Inscriber CG. The VM Studio and Inscriber CG replaced a Toaster 4000 and I haven't missed the Toaster or its CG, at all. (I do miss the 3D effects, though) Inscriber CG works much nicer than the VM…
