#86830 QB DOS->Win Bulge Message #87772
From: Intuit Support Intuit Forum · QuickBooks/DOS December 1, 1994 5:51 PM
John, When you convert from QuickBooks for DOS to Windows QuickBooks, the program and data will at least double in size. The QuickBooks for Windows program has more options and features then the DOS version, therefore you will see an increase in the amount of hard drive being used. Holly,…
QB DOS->Win Bulge Message #86830
From: Syndesis Intuit Forum · QuickBooks/DOS November 29, 1994 2:02 PM
I just upgraded from QuickBooks for DOS to Windows. Data point for all DOS afficianados: my old \QBOOKS directory tree consumed about 5 megs of hard disk, the new \QBOOKSW directory takes up 15 meg with the converted data files.

Randy, It is my understanding the MOST non-profit organizations don't need equity accounts. Both versions of QuickBooks have them. I went to the school that dictates keeping things simple. Like the person said, "What are your needs? If you just need to keep track of where the money came from…

Shannon, There is no need for you to continue to express your obvious bias towards MS. Rather than attacking what you think we are thinking (in which you are erroneous, by the way), why don't you contribute something more substantial, and that deals with the issue being discussed. But since…

Mr. Pitman. I do not know what the OS/2 patch "fixed" which allowed Quicken Windows to work with OS/2 did or does, but I do not believe that it was OS/2 which required "fixing!" OS/2 uses duely licensed and paid for Microsoft Windows code. Virtually all Windows applications will work…

From: Robert L. Stein Intuit Forum · QuickBooks/DOS November 5, 1994 12:12 AM
While I thank you very much for the response to running current versions of QB and Q under OS/2, the fact remains that MS has an undisputable attitude towards non-MS platforms. And much of this comes about from the use of undocumented system calls which were one of the many…

Holland, All you really need to do is to unclear the proper items from your checkbook register. You can do this by moving your curser to the 'C' colum for the item to be uncleared, hit delete to delete the X, then Ctrl-Enter to re-record and save your changes. The…

Not to sound like a goodie-goodie but… From what I understand QBW3 will work with os/2. I know some of the Quicken Windows products had probs with os/2 but a patch available from IBM via their BBS cured most of the problems. The patch fixed some problems with os/2 and…

I have been using QuickBooks (DOS) with OS/2 for over two years, no significant problems, it's one of those rare software packages, it just works as advertised and as expected.
