#55531 Ayudame, Por Favor! Message #55649
No, no la conozco en persona, aunque si de los creditos de Metropolis. Metropolis is a great program! It's an artist oriented program, vanguardism movements, new arts forms, videoart, videodance, animation, sculpture, high definition, painting, traditional animation… all you can thing about. It's simple the best program I've ever seen…
>>You also said the Targa seemed slow compared to your VLB s3 805 board. Comparing the Targa video speed with an accelerated board is like saying that oranges have a lot more vitamin C than eggs. You simply can't compare a video frame buffer oriented to video production with a…
Sure! I have a long time ahead to be on there. I didn't bring with me the bullet-proof vest. However, I'm interested in one that can resist 45mm double metal jacket bullets and some chain-made trousers for the beach (shark-proof trousers? 🙂 Any second-handed there? I'll exchange one for my…
#55084 #CD ROM with ANI PRO Message #55324
I have seen the Toshiba 3401 external for $500 without the SCSI card. Also doblespin. Hey Judy, you are really missing a lot without a CD. If you don't have the money, just go out there and steal one! Or if you have kids, convice them to lend you the…
Thanks for the welcome message, Greg! Ana
Hello everybody from the Sunny "Hurricaned" Florida! While waiting for the Emily to start to destroy everything around or not, I have decided to sell all my hardware and start a new life in the Silicon Graphics World!!! 🙂 Just kidding, boys and girls. Seriously, anybody wants a flatbed Microtek…
Bill, I don't know how render times could be speed up with the Pentium compiled version of 3ds, but with the plain 2.0, you get 3 to 4 times faster. Ana
#53278 486-33 or 486-66 Message #53433
That's not strange since this upgrade is not more than a dos 5.0+bad utilities bundle. Ana
#53259 #IPAs Message #53422
From: Ana Francisca Gervas Autodesk Software Forum · General August 14, 1993 6:30 AM
hey John! It's just a personal thing between Bill Gates an me There's anything wrong with using QEMM, nut dealing with the new dos 6.0 EMM… that's another thing. I have recieved too many bad reports from "quality" readers to install it on the HD. I'm happy with DOS 5.0…
#53137 #Sanyo GVRS-950 ? Message #53176
Paul, >>I hope it didn't sound like I was bashing the unit. No, not really. BTW, hey all! how many of you have plans to buy one of these things after reading Paul's report? Just kidding, Paul. Thanks for the report! 🙂 Ana
#53124 Diamond Viper Message #53175
After that, I hope lower prices (I know that there are "low cost" MGA boards, but the realtime gouraud one…he! that's another story 🙂 Ana
#53032 dinasaurs & fish !! Message #53098
Yes! Call ILM! Ana
#52979 Diamond Viper Message #53021
Currently they have their MGA cards doing realtime gouraud with AutoCAD for a long long time. It's really strange that they don't write a driver for 3ds to do the same. That cards are full of ASIC custom processors and TI graphics processors, all working together. Ana
Yeah, according the numbers, you'll need a FEW 486/50DX2 machines to win the race. (I personally will prefer 4 networked pentiums running 3dsr3 ) But probably three 66s will win the race to the 60MHz pentium … but you have to take the same amount of RAM of one pentium…
#52822 Printing in 3DStudio Message #53011
And with little budget, you must add I think this thing could be cool, but I'm more thinking of how this will affect other dye-sub printers. I'm looking for the new Kodak or Tektronix to buy next month, but I'll look for the Fargo as well. I'm looking for quality,…

Just one thing Alex. Throw away your DOS 6.0 copy. Sounds bad but I think that you can send Bill Gates to jail for this one! Seriously, there are no words to describe DOS 6.0. Ana
#52696 Compiled for pentium Message #52912
17 de Agosto, Alex. Un monton de cosas todavia por hacer! 🙂 Ana
#52593 3ds hardware lock Message #52648
I think they will replace a broken lock without problems. Not an "stealed" one, of course 🙂 That's why they insist on the lock insurance. Ana
bwahaha! Don't laugh??? After your confession about the luggable Compaq? Bwahah! At this point, I have to confess my addiction and admiration to the anarquic rainbowed apple, long time ago. However, new announcements are reviving that feelings. As I have said before, I'm sure that my next computer will be…
#52366 OS/2 Compatibility Message #52632
Look to 3dStudio Release 3 features list: Multitasking renderer when run under OS/2. Not bad, mmh? Ana
#52486 #Compaq 486/66m Message #52631
Alan, RAM is a main factor in rendering times. In our 3ds tests, the Compaq have a better time in the still 1024×768 truecolor phong aliashigh tga, but have only 8Mb (up to 136 in the cpu board) vs. the 16Mbs of the Dell. This result really gives the point…
No Martin. anything… yet. I'll call Techex friends tomorrow and ask for info. This thing sells for $8,000??? With 64MBs??? More res than the Vista??? If they said that there's a 4MB version and is user upgradable, it could be a good time to sell our Targas I'll back soon…
Glad to hear that, Rachel. Thanks. I pass these days wondering how to made one of those Enterprise's teletransports, reviewing some Scotty talk in the old ST series Ana
Never said never again (my first computer was an AppleII!!!) Ana ps.To be true, PCs are good, but learning things from mac world could make them awesome. Look Windows… geee, I hate it.
#52217 Sound Cards Message #52233
I don't have the Turtle Beach, only a humble ProAudio Spectrum 16 and a few old blasters. However, I'm only talking about profesional studio people and sound engineers opinions. Since I've to do some work in record studios, I'm always asking about what is the last gadget in town. I've…
Just one word: argh! Best wishes for the show, Yosters! 🙂 Thanks for the good news. I'll die in the next couple of hours, salivating and full of envy. Ana
Martin, I've read that its a version of that board for the Bravado16, also from Rapid. I've use the Bravado16 during a long time (for testing) and is a great board and the most expandable I've ever seen. It can do anything. oh, just to add some info. Ana
#Sound Cards Message #52211
i think you are wrong, Angelo. For what I hear from musicians and other multimedia crazy people, the Turtle Beach board is far beyond the ASP16 with the WaveBlaster. Of course, you only can get your favorite games throught emulation. Take a look to the Multiven forum. Also, MediaVision is…
Alan, I've just finished to read the PowerPC issue of BYTE (it seems like BYTE is the official Motorolla/IBM/Apple while PC Magazine is under Intel/Microsoft control -just speculating 🙂 I've to retract some of my words regarding this chip. They said that the MPC601, which is aimed to "lowend workstation"…
>Some things need to be put into perspective here. >1) 3D Studio is written as a production tool. Let's look at that. Any tool > is only as good as the person using it, and the person's understanding of > the tool. Let's compare it to building a house. You…
#animation software Message #52208
The "3dshaper" is not a program. It's the 2d module from 3D Studio. What Bob do is take the dxf file output by AutoSketch into the shaper and use the shapes to create the 3d models. Ana
#50771 2-D 24-BIT ANIMATION Message #51115
Yes, Greg. But it seems that Phil wants superhires at high frequencies and non-interlaced (at 24 bits). However, there's a simply explanation to this interlaced vs. noninterlaced dilema: both modes have its application. Hey! I spend MANY dollars in both class of boards, if there's something that can do it…
Don, The 64 is not available for the PAL system, but it'll give you 32 bit double buffer to NTSC. In the Targa+ you can play with two images at one, but a 16bit. With the 64+, you will get full 32bit support. You are right about the 512 issue.…
But you know, Intel is Intel. And the current base of PC users are using Intel CPUs based PCs. And certainly, the market don't wake up a morning and say: "hey, why not switch to PowerPC???" Moreover, although te 601 will be cheaper than the Pentium, the last one will…
Regarding 24bit AAPRO: >I'm not holding my breath on that one, though. What a hopeless man! hey, Phil, be positive! Ana

#50520 Paint Software Message #50825
Charles, >Pardon me for inserting this remark, but Tien, what does an "oil painting" look like. 🙂 Good question! However, although many movements and styles use oils, I think Tien is talking about oil in the most classic way. What you can get when using a 3d or a photography…
#50617 Multilayer support Message #50824
I will call them as soon as I arrive to the US on August. Will be the best $79 I had spent in years (don't count LucasArts games 🙂 I'm keeping my contact with PC Zones, but they are only carrying Painter 2.0 but not the extensions. Thanks for the…
>>Well, I'm not sure, but, Truevision themselves may have some modern-day alternatives. Whether or not they're 24 bit is another question. Certainly, the Truevision 1024-32 is not a cheap board, but if you want a Texas Instruments 34020 based board with 4MB vram (and a 16MB xtra module) of RAM…
AAPro 24 bit soon Message #50678
I use two Wacoms: a 422 12"x12" and a 510c both with pressure sensitive styluses. Both tablets are GREAT! I like them a lot. I've read at PCMag a review of new tablets with more pressure levels from Kurta, Calpcomp, etc… Also Wacom is just to release new tablets. However,…
#AAPro 24 bit soon Message #50677
i think that a new file format will be do if we want to mantain the multilayer support in multiple sessions. Temporal files are too "uncontrolled" 🙂 specially because they are temporal and dissapear while you shutdown the program. Think about this: (First take a new 24bits fli format, of…
#Multilayer support Message #50585
Dave, Thanks for the info. I've ask for the extensions at PC Zone and they said that they are looking for them. They sounds like a must to Painter users. I think that this guys at Fractal Design have done the best graphic program ever. BTW, how did you get…
#AAPro 24 bit soon Message #50584
Nik, And thank you for being here listening to this animator pro issue and passing the suggestions to Jim and the Autodeskers 🙂 -sounds like a music group It's a good thing to have the forum printed and going around in Sausalito. I don't know anything about this one. Ana
John, Thanks for your comments too. Even more light for the "unlighted" 🙂 Ana
Thanks Gus. More information for a near full brain Ana
#50190 AAPro 24 bit soon Message #50239
Most recent SVGA cards use linear addressing, not only VLB cards. As I have said before, the Targa+ has linear addressing capability (currently only use it with its Windows driver -correct me if I'm wrong with this one). I like animator since the old 320×200 version. In fact, the first…
#50225 Art Futura! Message #50238
This is your lucky day! Spanish, Catalan and ENGLISH are the three languages. The articles are written by all these guys, and include a long interview with Moebius. The topics are VERY interesting from all perspective. Hey you all, Artists, Scientifics, Techies and Philoshopers will find this book very interesting!…
#50161 New Silicon Graphics Message #50165
>As far as waiting for r4 on NT and AXPs….. if you wait that long, I fear >you might be passed by. Probably I can pass the long wait with a pair of Pentium machines and 3dsR3 (or probably the NT AXP version of r3 will follow shortly the DOS…
Can you explain that DOS only ASPI support? It sounds a little weird to me. Since Windows use DOS drivers to access SCSI drives, I can't see where could be the incompatibility. This new box from FD sounds good, but if it doesn't have ASPI under Windows, forget it. Anyway,…

Jumping in to send some congrats for Vibrant. I have the DLX-Express drivers that come with the ATI Ultra+. Very good ones! Easy to setup and full of options. Keep the good work there! Ana
