From: Larry Minton Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio September 26, 1995 3:52 PM
Are you using any IPAS routines in this model? I seem to remember that some tended to grab chunks of memory. You might try turing all the IPAS routines off, if possible. It sounds like it ought to be running…. LAM

It appears that what is giving that error message is the setup.exe program, right? All that program does is install aaplayhi on your hard disk. It seems to assume that you will be installing from floppy, and that is why it is giving weird error messages. If you just unzip…

Hmmm… I'll have to play with os/2 later today and see if I can duplicate your error message. Not one that I have seen before. Remember the DPMI memory setting can be as high as you want. It doesn't need to correspond to the actual amount of memory you have…

re: 1 – os/2 – in your os/2 dos settings, set dpmi_dos_api to enabled, and the dpmi_memory_limit to 64 or 128 or whatever (that's # of megabytes). re: 2 – reflection map – yes, you can't render the flat reflection map on only the first frame if it is obvious…

From: Larry Minton Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Wishlist September 20, 1995 9:27 PM
Actually, based on a set of messages in the script section, there is not a rename function in TSE. You would have to copy the object to the new name and delete the old one. You would also loose any keyframe data. LAM

Partially true – I have an ATI Mach64 board that allows limited VESA support under NT. It appears to be that the video driver has to be written to support VESA. ATI does, Diamond does not. Vibrant really ought to be designing video drivers for NT and os/2. LAM

It depends on how badly you want/need it. 3DS Max is supposed to ship in the "winter". So that would be anywhere from about 3 months to 6 months before shipping. Add another couple of months to get proficient with the new version, curse NT, praise NT, etc. LAM
