#138874 Refraction? Message #138971
I appreciate the creativity of the very complex work arounds that you and others have come up with in trying to simulate refraction. My point is that these very efforts demonstrate the need for a refraction solution for 3DS that dosnt negate the advantages of scan line speed. To me…

Have you considered what the upgrade from R1 to R2 might cost ? The reason I ask is Im trying to decide whether to get R1, which would meet some of my needs or wait for R2 which sounds like a much more complete solution. If the upgrade cost were…

Im hoping that some of the best features of Pstyler end up in Pshop.

PMJI Gosh, I really like the special effects book and have learned alot – but – the illustration of the wine glass is not going to win any contests in competition with a ray tracer. I would guess that the wine bottle subject was suggested by on of the POV…

Although Photoshop may have a few more features, I like the interface of Photostyler better , especially for easy pixel by pixel control of selection areas which is important in making seamless textures. Im looking foward to Painter 3 with its support for sequential file modification. Im trying to figure…

Hey! I own and use a PAR all the time. I was saying, not very clearly apparently, that more resolution than can be handled by a Targa , Vista, or PAR is useless for video output. The PAR has enabled me to be much freer creatively, since its so easy…

#137993 #animation quality Message #138020
Well, one thing is that video resolution ( if by quality you mean resolution ) at 750+- by 480 is so much lower than film resolution which is generally lower than still print resolution. If by quality you mean detail, lighting, etc. the still is (hopefully) studied for awhile while…

This particular fly lives in an aquarium with a praying mantis, which can be nerve racking. I want to animate the way flies wipe their heads repeatedly with their front legs. Im working on the plants that go in the aquarium. The aquarium is found in an 1890's inventors workshop…

Ive had hit and miss experiences with boolians. Today I had some luck with intersect in order to perform a subtraction that wouldnt work with subtract. Must be an art rather than a science. Ed

PMJI The theory of trichromacy states that there are three kinds of color recieving cells (cones) in our retinas. The peak responsiveness of these cells hovers around the frequencies we would call red green and blue. The responsiveness of each kind of cell drops off as the frequency diverges from…
Thanks. Im doing more work that requires swaping so this looks like a solution. Ed

Hey! us Lompoc-ers ( no k ) are proud to be in the forefront of something. The last big deal around here was when W.C. Fields was in town.
If your experiment works out Id like to hear about it. Im seriously considering OS2 but Im waiting for the new version.

Try render blowup. It will blow up any area you select into the resolution you specify.

Thanks for the information. It seems like OS2 would eliminate the PharLap problem.

James Thanks for your answer. It sounds like OS2 would be at least some improvement. Im waiting for the next OS2 because Ive heard that the present version has its little idiosyncracies and that a more friendly version is on the way. Ed
Im not going to A.U. but would like to see the brochure and specs. send to: E.Harvey 1598 Calle Primera Lompoc, CA 93436 thanks in advance!

James, I like the Kurzweil 2000s. Its a high quality keyboard with an on board sampler. RAM can be added so that several seconds or more of dialogue or any sounds can be sampled and keymapped. Once keymapped a sound can be played across the whole keyboard. So its easy…

Ive worked with Real3D. #Opacity map problem Message #127937
Id like to use grey scale images as texture maps and color them with RGB Luma Tint in order to save disk space. This works with materials that are mono or duo chromatic. The problem is that full transparency cannot be achieved (by me at least) with RGB luma tint.…

It seems to me that the necessity of exiting DOS and restarting 3DS each time a rendering is made that exceeds available RAM and pages to disk is a bug, even if it is documented. Im maxed out on my motherboard at 32mb and cannot upgrade as often as I…
