True, but not I. I was quite explicit in giving thanks and credit to Jennifer on this forum. True, I didn't tank here in every single message. She and Mike Wright have been most helpful.

Quite reasonable. Interesting that rather than attacking ME, you dealt with the problem, that being communication expressions and the attempt to effectively communicate. Your points are good. Thanks for the attitude. And, yes, I'll watch these expressions more closely.

But sometimes they are called for when an individual need to be "klunked on the head" because they are offering poor service. >> An interesting expression. She did enlighten me as to her credentials. I don't think I really want to hire somebody with her attitude. Nor, would she probably…

Thanks for the followup. I love such war stories. I printed your message in the "laser room" so that others could see it. It has been the subject of much conversation and we are purchasing wireless headphones for the operators so that they may listen to music in silence. Apparently…

Now this is a very valid point. It is something that all too often if forgotten by we in America. We have many expressions of this sort that have no meaning when you look at the words themselves, but which have a meaning that they have acquired. There is a…

No, Mickey Mouse is a good phrase, but is entirely different. A "Mickey Mouse" answer is one that is either a trite response or one that proposes a solution that is a bad, unreliable, or side-effect based hack. A "Mickey Mouse" proposal is, well, "Rinky Dink" or something like that.…

So? It is interesting that you are consistently the one calling names. How have I ever lied? Do you have the facts. I know of no case where I have lied? This is also news to me, since you have never let me know about any "lies". I think you…

> Advice is usually something that is of assistance. You are missing the key point and that is that I was not offered advice nor help. I was immediately slammed, inferred that I was a liar, challenged that perhaps I lacked a basic grasp of math, and in an intellectual…

> Very interesting. The moment that I express that this conversation is of interest and value to ME you conclude that it is a waste of "both" of our time. Did I miss something here. (Or, are you the "both" you refer to.) Same comment as before. Unless I found…

Wow! What a fascinating possibility! I never considered that. I assumed that the servo controls and mountings compensated for such potential problems. Our computer room is quite ellaborate. It is also equipped with an expensive stereo system. And, on the same surface as the two main CD-R burners is a…

Webster: Profanity: Treat with irreverence Well, I guess that if Compuserver has a rule against treating with irreverence then I don't follow the rules after all. But then, you are quite profane as well, so where does that leave us? > I just don't see how I have a foul…
#118321 Mitsumi Problem Message #118382
Thank you for your reply. It was very interesting! We were very careful to be certain that all of the disks we used for this project were the very same brand and batch. Verbatim, the manufacturer, has received several of the bad disks and is doing a careful analysis of…

We have found that some disks consistently do not read on the Mitsumi drives while other disks consistently do read. Then, there are the "maybe" disks that sometimes read and sometimes do not read. This is why I wonder if the problem is the media. After all, how can it…

We all pay good money. I follow the rules. Sorry if I cannot guess what you like and dont. You are missing the big picture here. I was trying to explain that we have this serious problem. The problem results in a number of our disks being unreadable. Some tests…
#118197 #Mitsumi Problem Message #118237
Kinda true. But if the problem is a "calibration" one then you can get involved. It is odd that some of the disks never read in Mitsumi drives, other specific disks always read on all drives, and then there are a bunch in the middle. If the problem is strictly…

Thanks for the information. I'll check. The panasonic is a "563" I think. Doesn't using a "proven reliable" drive somewhat defeat the utility of CD-R disks? I mean, what good are they if they only work sometimes. It may be the fault of the drive manufacturers, but that doesn't matter…

And, we are following up on this with great haste. It neither settles the problem of how all of those people out there with Mitsumi drives will be able to read CD-R disks nor does it really settle this. It is but one theory about what is happening. We have…

You are twisting words. We don't seem to know what or where things are working. As for 25% or 8%, even this is unclear–even after testing many hundreds of disks. Sometimes a disk will work and a moment later it will not work. So, does it count as a working…

NO. That is not true. We have no evidence that the CD-ROM disks that we are burning work reliably in other drives. We only know now that they don't work in Mitsumi drives.
Thanks, I am confused. You indicate that only 25 MB of hard disk is used no matter what size session we write. This doesn't make sense, unless you simply "point" to the files elsewhere, which I think you must not do. Our need is very simple: Copy about 650 megabytes…
I would entirely skip the Mitsumi drive if I could. But unfortunately, the cost to our little company to go out and replace every Mitsumi drive every shipped to any company that might ever try to read our disks would be a little costly. Therefore, while we could change out…

Unfortunately, we want our customers to be able to read CD-R disks, and they have these and many other types of CD-R drives. We cannot change what drives Dell, Gateway, and everybody else happens to sell. So, we need reliable CD-R technology. Blame the CD-R drives, but they work just…
This sounds very interesting. This also implies 25 MB sessions, with a lot of session overhead. We pack disks full with 645 megabytes of data. So wouldn't opening and closing sessions slow down reading and loading and reduce the available space on the disk?
Not a chamce. We process 500,000 different graphic images (B&W TIFF Files) each and every day here. All must get burned onto CD-ROM. We pack the disks as very full as possible to keep the count as low as possible.
Thanks for the reply. I'll verify the "bad" disks on another drive when we get one. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Mitsumi drives out there and not being compatible with them will have huge impact on support costs here.
Following up on this posting (Replying to myself…) The verification drives are Mitsumi The recorder is Plasmin RF-4101 (Firmware 1.28) The media is Verbatim 4X (Gold Dye) The record speed is 2X The software is InCat MM 3.0 Any assistance about what might be the problem would be most graciously…

We are having a very similar experience. We have a lot of Mitsumi drives and they have a lot of troubles with CD-R disks. (Gold dye…Plasmon 4101 recorder.) A disk will read on one drive and then not read on another. It's very erratic. Did you find anything out about…
Are the Spira disks written in 9660 format? Do you buffer on disk, or how do you handle the recording process?
How do I get in touch with Moniker? If you have information that can be Emailed, please send it to me!
We are having a serious problem here that I would appreciate your advice on. As many of you do CD-Rom burning I was hoping that somebody might be able to help. About 8% of the CD-R disks that we burn are turning out to be unreliably read. This is a…
