#No indication of Faces
Message #191521
Problem with no indication of faces using 3D Studio Rel 4.0 during Select/face/single. Don't get that familiar blue/green highlight. In fact, there is no indication at all until the mystery face turns red. Sort of like hope & poke! (no pun intended) Rick
Kevin, Not an option, but I agree with you. Any decent places to eat or hang out in SF. Rick
#Missing SF Tourist trap
Message #183377
Will be visiting the west coast soon. Staying in San Francisco. Looking to miss the tourist traps. Any suggestions. Rick
Brian, Will try that .dll Thanks Rick
Nik, is there a player engine that will play the flc/fli files besides aawin. Have a problem with shelling to aawin from an authoring program. Size of distributing players is also a large consideration. Rick
Paul, NO NO NO I don't charge enough. I should charge more. If someone comes in behind me, under bids & kills the case more than one lost job is at stake. A Med student goes for the best education, hoping the bucks will follow. Not the other way around.…
Brandon; However, I don't think there will be enough info present in any particular listing to allow folks to make an objective comparison. >>>>> If you're not selling televisions, why compare price? You can't make an objective comparison between two completely different animations, even in the same case. At least…
Paul or Brandon, OH! You feel more comfortable with your price if it is within a "fixed" range compared to everyone else's price. Sorry, let's save that one for next week. Before you compare price, make sure its not apple to oranges. RIck
Brandon, I wasn't questioning your motive, just the effective result. There is no reason to know how much is being charged for an animation. That's previledged information. Award is not a measure of quality. Winning is not a measure of quality. Successfully hiding the experts mistakes is not a measure…
Brandon, There are very few law firms that have actually gone to the expense of hiring a competant animator & expert to produce forensic animation. Why would I or any other sensible animator "bird-dog" them for you? Are you nuts? RicK

Danny, Try tempo Rick
Eduardo, Have you tried a Ph'D in Mechanical Engineering? Rick Lapidus Video Production Marketing Inc.
Alec, Had a chance to take a second look at the c/net program. Did they copy that segment from the 3d studio promo tape you did a few years back? Un believable. You could see yourself showing up anywhere without your permission. Rick

Meeting # 19 Wednesday April 19th 7pm Location: ITAID COMPUTER CENTER Host: Greg Knapp & Cindy Lamb 407-367-8572 40 SE 3rd St. Boca Raton Thank you for your support. Rick Lapidus 407-241-2961
Alec: OH ____! I'd like to contact you off forum & kick around a few ideas "Professionally". I had suggested a national organization, but most of the respondants were merely interested in certification. Very few people are interested in a true professional association with the obligatory standards. Rick Lapidus
Alec, What took you so long! I've been waiting for some serious dialogue on this case. Putting "An OJ type figure" sculking in the court yard puts a powerful image in the mind of the viewer that this was a premeditated crime. Must be something in the California water. Get…
Brian, A guru told me to put a /s after the cd-rom driver. Something to do with the ms-version being written for networks. Rick
TBruno, Sounds circumstantial to me. But then again, I'm not an attorney. Rick
Rick, >>>> but I would have to assume its the attorneys that wanted it that way >>>>> As I understand it, the animation was commissioned by a tv program not the attorneys. Btw, what attorneys would allow evidence to be seen on tv before admitted as expert testimony? I guess…
#Forensic Animation
Message #162449
Well, kiss a fair trial for OJ Goodbye. I saw the animation Failure Analysis did for C/Net last night. It was really a nice piece of work. Well crafted & slick. It does however show the danger of what is possible with this new media. Animation has the facility to…

Brian, Have switched thru 3 cards trying to get something that you guys support ans thought this last card was choice. Just got Lenz FX & see that I need 800×600 at 32k plus colors. Help! Help! Rick
Dave, >>>>> Do you get some sort of GPF? (This is my understanding of what happens…) When you attempt to access files on that system's hard drive, you are likely accessing the SERVER TSR running on that system. Also running as a TSR would be the network adapter drivers. It…
Nik, The problem machine has as follows: SCSI with setting of Irg 11 340 Lantastic with Irq 15 300 or 320 (have tried both) WD 90c33 card – It reportedly won't do over 32k colors at last check. Has also given me some wierd results with 3dExpress at 800X600 Makes…

Message #147358
Nik, Getting funny spots with 32k. Need more power! Rick
Nik, I downloaded the last set a couple months ago and still can't get the 640×480 16 mil. It appears that this card is not supported at 640×480 16 mil. Was the wd 90c33 ever supported above 256 colors. Tried the 90c31 but that creates a nasty zap when changing…
Nik, The card is the Western Digital WD 90c33. It only has drivers under vibrant with 3D Studio Ver 3.0 to 640×480 at 256 colors. Have tried Vibrant BBS & called IBMHD Forum. No luck. Rick Are you saying that I have to upgrade to ver 4.0 to get the…

I bought a western digital card & just found out that its not fully supported. It was supposedly supported when I bought it. Can you guys give us a hint at whether or not Vibrant will be supporting Ver 4 or Ver 5? Why the pissing match?

John, Thanks for the forward. Rick lapidus
Max, Let me know how it works. I may send some contract work your way. Rick
Ted, You may want to export different layers as separte files. Or use different colors. Need to organize before export. Pedit lines & solemesh your objects. Rick
Max, Schrieber has a 3d surf program which supposedly works great as an ipas in 3D Studio. Will generate terrain from autocad data. If you are not working from a file, it will randomluy generate hills. Sounds like you might want the autocad add on Landcadd Rick
Paul, >>>>>>>>> Is that a joke? I've never heard of such an association. >>>>>>>>\ You may have missed the string I started. We are forming. E-mail your name addres ext if interested. Will keep you posted. Rick Lpaidus
Paul, Interested in the Forensic Animators association? RIck Lapidus
It would be great to have you on board. I am in the process of getting this "thing" started. Main goal (if you missed the beginning of thread ) is to setup and provide testing & certification. Basically to avoid losing the market from adverse rulings. Also to haelp promote…
John, Will add you to the list & look to you for assistance also. I have taught a few classes from my own experiences. We could use some formalized classes in all areas. Rick

Message #137023
Just set up a simply lantastic connnection between two machines with dongles. First problem was to get the parallel ports away from the net so that they could be recognized. Now when both machines are running with 3D studio up, and one wants to borrow a file from the other…
David, Any chance of getting that ipas to run the opposite direction. Assci to keyframer? Rick Lapidus
Wes, Have anything for calculating the path of a turning tractor trailor? I have an expert that is looking for an autocad plug-in or soemthing else reliable. BTW< Are you doing 3D studio work or just in the neighborhood? RIck Lapidus
