Message #52242
Alas, I've gone out on sabbatical. (I shouldn't even be responding to this message. 🙂 I did upload it, however, some time last week, to section 2. If it hasn't shown up yet, send a message to Nik Grant (or ADESK in general) and ask him to check with the…
Given time, of course, everthing changes. But… at this time, there are no announced plans for updating the MCI driver.
There is no way to get a pointer to the video buffer, as we said some time ago. The best that can be done is exactly the work-around you have implemented: an IXP to capture the raster stream and build your own image buffer. As for getting the product name,…
Yes, though I am not sure of the exact extent of the kit. Best contact Phar Lap about that.
AAPLAYER FOR WINDOWS
Message #50813
Look in section 2 (I think) for a file called NEWPLA.ZIP. Also browse with the key words WINDOWS or PLAYER.
Watcom has its own linker that will produce phar lap executibles (REXX files, .EXP's). So, no, you do not have to have the phar lap kit, though you may want to acquire it eventually.
AAPLAY.DLL, AAVGA.DLL, AAWIN.EXE, AAPLAY.VBX are all distributable files. Is OKay. 🙂
I'm still looking for VSCREEN.POE; I'll upload it to the forum when I find it.
Robert, questions about AutoCAD are best directed to the AutoCAD forum: GO ACAD. I don't know that much about AutoCAD, anymore (been absorbed by MultiMedia).
Lisp? Sounds like AutoCAD. Try over in the ACAD forum: GO ACAD.
MCIAAP won't accept a parent HWnd; it is designed to be its own parent no matter what you do.
Unfortunately, you can not get the MCIAAP driver to accept a redirection to another window as parent. This was necessary at the time the driver was written in order to get it to behave "correctly" (that was back in the Windows 3.0 – premultimedia days). You should be able to…
AutoCAD questions need to be directed to the AutoCAD forum: GO ACAD.
Hmmm, I don't have VSCREEN.POE either. Let me check on this and get back to you.
As for the fire board, really, really, truly all I know about it is that it is virtually drop and go. Just be sure to install our SPSERVER file in the proper directory. The people I have spoken to about it are no help in this case because it has…
Autodesk is a software company; it makes great software, and, last I heard, had a market value somewhere around a zillion dollars. I'm not sure what product you are asking about. There's AutoCAD (and the familiy of related add-ons), 3D Studio and Animator Pro, as our three main products, plus…
Don, please let me know what you find out. I'd like to know why your Spea isn't working for you.
CDK + WATCOM C++
Message #48066
Support for additional compilers with the CDK is on the wish-list. I would expect it to happen soon, however.
CDK Support
Message #48065
Yes, I'm with Autodesk. I do multimedia developer support here. If you received the CDK as an eval directly from Autodesk, then there should be someone here at Autodesk who is responsible for your support. There should have been a letter stating that. From whom did you receive your package?
Sorry, there is no clock function in POCO. The closest is the CLOCK1000() function that will return the number of milliseconds since AAPro was started, plus or minus 2ms. To achieve access to the system clock, you would need to create a POE routine to do this for you, which…
The Int2FSwitch will fix this problem in some cases and won't in others. Sounds like it almost but not quite fixes it in your case. The only other alternative I can offer you is to use DISPDIB.DLL, if it is available to you and your customers. DISPDIB.DLL ships with Video…
aawin transition problem
Message #48062
That's an interesting problem. I do not know what would cause the player to think it can not do transitions. Take a look in your win.ini file, in the section [AAPLAY Animation] and see if there is any weird setting in there. Or let me know what the settings are.…

Spea display settings
Message #48061
Spea setup should be seemless. There's an install that ought to set all that stuff up for you. Make sure that you copy our SPSERVER file from the vendor disk to your spea subdirectory. That's about all you should have to do. What problems exactly are you having?
This sounds like an AutoCAD question. AutoCAD is handled in the AutoCAD forum: GO ACAD.
The CompuTrainer is made by a company called RacerMate. They are located in Seattle. I don't have the address or phone number, but information for Seattle should be able to give it to you. The CompuTrainer is an excercycle-type gadget with computer hookups. Beyond that, I have no information on…
Support for the CDK developer's kit is available here, or through the dealer from whom it was purchased. I am not familiar with the requirements a dealer must meet in order to sell CDK, but I do know that they are farily high requirements.
(Sorry your message got lost; CI$ has been having troubles with disappearing messages on several forums.) The most I can say about "will REALIZE PALETTE ever be supported" is I hope so; but there've been no official announcements and I am not in the "priviledged" inner circle on such things.…
Sorry, I can't be more specific on the release date. No one has told me, either.
The new version of the VBX will be released shortly. I do not know if it will work with 3D Design Studio or not; I'm not familiar with that product. It will definitely work with VB 2.0 and 3.0, however (which is what it was designed for).
This is a known bug between Visual Basic and our AAPLAY.VBX. This problem is being worked on and an updated version of the VBX will be released soon.
At this time, we have no plans for developing any hard copy drivers for 3DS, our selves. I do know of two companies, however, that are in process of developing new AutoCAD rendering drivers that will also be Studio compatible. When these are released, it should help. What is normally…
You can certainly set up a custom palette for AAPro to use. However, I know of no way to extract a windows system palette in to a .COL file, which could then be loaded into AAPro. This would not be a difficult windows applet to create, if you are handy…
Let me know if this doesn't give you the functionality you are looking for.
AutoCAD questions need to be directed to the AutoCAD forum: GO ACAD
Glad this worked out.
You need a copy of our windows player developer's kit. Call 800-879-4233 and have $25 in plastic standing by. The kit includes the software (.DLLs as well as a windows player) plus documentation needed to access FLI/FLC playback from a windows app.
At this time our AAPLAY.DLL does not support the REALIZE option for palette handling. We are aware that this is a big limitation with the product. I have no suggestions for a suitable work-around. Tech is aware of the problem.
You are relating a horror story to me. This is, as described, totally unacceptable and I apologise for this treatment. I will pass along your message to those in charge of such things. I would like to have the original 800 number that you dialed, please. The other two phone…
The CDK can not be used with MS C/C++ or with VC++ at this time. Microsoft does not yet have a true 32-bit compiler. Their compilers will not work with the CDK.
Whenever you see "bad configuration file" in 3DS, you need to exit from Studio, delete the 3DADI.CFG file and start over. If the problem does not clear up after that, then you most likely have a buggy video driver. Contact the video card manufacturer and ask if there is a…
IPAS requires MetaWare 3.0 with the Phar Lap tools, or Watcom 9.0.

3D-Studio (RUSH)
Message #46436
Questions about the use of 3DS should be posted to section 3. But, really, there's no special trick to it. You do need to have a driver for the video card that can handle that resolution, however. 3DS can only directly handle 320×200 to a VGA. ATI has VESA drivers…

what's gnu?
Message #45887
As well as calling conventions used by the compiler and their startup code, and, and, and… If GNU is even compatible with , more than likely the kit libraries would have to be rebuilt specifically for GNU, meaning another QA / testing cycle, more floppies in the package (which give…
I think Grant has already answered this one pretty well. There's no way to say when or if Watcom will support Watcom. I mean, how can we comment on a converting to a platform that isn't even shipping yet?
ADI and 3DS
Message #45527
A suggestion, Gus. Seems to me that it would be, in this case at least, almost simpler to write that VTP driver as an IXP routine instead. That way you can certainly get the rendered image (one line at a time, build your own video buffer). Wha'cha think?
Historicity. Basically, it was written a long time ago, now (written for Windows 3.0), and has not been significantly updated since. There are a number of functions that would be really nice to have added to it; support for RealizePalette() is at the top of the list. Other than bug-fixes,…
Okay, Gus; I understand now. The PTERM packet should be working if you are using Studio 2.01, as far as I know (haven't checked to be sure, though). There was a bug in 2.00 where that packet wasn't being sent out, and it made certain kinds of drivers impossible, as…
