Jerry, We use CD-R to store image files. Durring a busy day we can master 5 CD's. (some times up to 4 copies of each disk.) For us we need the ability to make the transfer process transparent. i.e.: 1. Place a DISK in the drive. 2. Hit Enter. 3.…

Michael, It is my opinuon(sp) that you should stay as far away from Chinon as possible. I purchased a 431 in November and had nothing but problems with it. Chinon's tech support had know idea what the problem was a kept on pointing fingers. It took over a month to…
Paul, >>> I'll try to respect others rights when smoking, but outside? I live in a rural setting and smoke outside. I resent it when a belching diesel noisily goes by me really polluting the atmosphere, not once, but many times a day. I resent it when a car goes…
Lynne, I am a psedo-militant anti-smoker. The only thing I ask is that I be aloud to breath. Smoke makes me choke and gag. (I have never and will never smoke a cig.) There is nothing worse than in hailing some nasty smelling smoke that someone blew out of there…

CD ROM Recomendation

Mike, One at a time: >> Can you hook up a microphone to the SBPro card? Yes >> Does the Texel use a caddy? Yes >> Do you believe caddies are a benefit or a pain? They are both. A caddy protects the disk and helps the CD-ROM drive keep…
Robert, Have you tried different CDs? I had problems with Microsoft CDs with a Chinon 431. They would lock the machine in the same way you discribe. Sence I bought the Texel, the only problems I have had have been with Corel SCSI, not the drive. Ernie P.S. Good Luck.
Robert, Although I primaraly use my Texel 5024 (Purchased from Insight) with an Adaptech 1542, we have the Trantor 130b in my wifes machine. My Texel drive functions flawlessly (execpt under NT witch is a driver problem) on BOTH machines. My primary machine is a 486-50 clone. My wifes is…

Jerry, Great choice! You will be happy with the Texel. I got mine from Insight Computers in Tempe, AZ. (I live in Phoenix so I drove to pick it up.) I think they might also go by the name of Hard Drives International. I have been very happy with my…
Jim, > I was told by Texel that I would have to ship my drive back! I hope your information is more reliable than mine. I really don't want to be without my drive for the one to two weeks it would take. If you find out anything more let…
Kathy,
You need the /XA switch to access photo CD's.

Hello, I am looking for more information on the Philips CDD 521 CD-ROM burner. The topic of most interest would be developers kits. Does any one know of any developers kits for the 521. We have three different authoring systems now and none of them have all of the features…
David, I had a Chinon 431 for about a month. The drive was bad and I had to take it back. I ended up with a Texel 5024. It doesn't have the nice display and every thing but it is much faster 🙂 I spent a lot of time on…
Dan, Are you using a Texel 5024 under NT? Mine locks up a lot while under NT. What type of controler are you using? Ernie
