I don't know a whole lot about Video Post but I don't think I can use it – you see I am applying this map to a surface as a texture and other things are visible. Tell me I am wrong, and I'll thank you muchos. Adios, Anil
Michele, as Daniel suggested, I am mapping it to a planar surface which is one of many in the view. I am going to try your suggestion of using a lower res flic, but now I have to go back to where I can beg to use Animator Pro since…
Thanx for the suggestion – I will try Michele's suggestion. I just did not want to go back to the guy who has Anipro (I now have Animator Studio (unfortunately)). I am mapping it onto a planar surface and I used region fit (perhaps I should have tried Bitmap fit…
#Texture map no rendering
Message #185920
Help! I am trying to render a scene using a flic (FLC) as a texture map, and it is not rendering. Please respond soon as I am trying to meet a deadline this weekend. Here's what is happening: I created a flic using Animator Pro – I used the POCO…
#Coming back(Need advice)
Message #176873
Hi, I am coming to 3D Studio and Animator after a hiatus of nearly two years. The new company I work for now wants to get into this area and of course I have ben assigned the task of putting it all together! I know I want to buy 3D…
Briana Profuse Megathanx – you saved the day! Also replied to you email. Anil
Briana sent it to me. Thanx for your help. BTW, if you have anything in electronic format send it along for any future classes I may have. I appreciate your help and responsiveness.
Thanx, I got it. She did. Everything great! Anil
#R13 Reviewers Guide
Message #158750
I was told by Joe Mcrae over in the ACAD forum to contact the ATC group here. This is regarding some material I need for a R13 upgrade class I am teaching at the ATC at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. At the PPT training I got this document but because…
Jeffery, come on, gimme a break. 🙂 I have great respect for you and the company you work for. You have been particularly helpful and diplomatic in clarifying issues, but I think you are stretching it a little in comparing AutoCAD and the CDK. Ya, hey? Next you'll be saying,…
Jason, thanx for the file you emailed. It got cut off, so I'll have to download the file, but I appreciate your sending it to me. IMHO, I think you contradicted yourself there. As you say, the field is fragmented, there is no reason to make it more so by…
P5 Update
Message #37431
Alec, that is good news about the P5 chip! I've been wating for it eagerly too. However, if the chip is $3500 I probably can;t afford it! According to PCWEEK, the price is supposed to be $1000 in bulk, so it couldn't be more than $1500 to us. Unless of…

Message #36774
Jeffrey (and whoever else at Autodesk is listening), That was not the news we have been wating for (for three years mind you). With all due respect to Autodesk, we seem to going in the wrong direction here. When Autodesk succeeded with AutoCAD and lately with 3D Studio in the…
Dan, you have to set your display driver to NULL in order to get higher res flics. Renderer/Setup/Configure. Otherwise it renders to screen resolution. An unfortunate thing, but that's the way it is – Gary when are you guys going to change that? Anil
Gary, ok I did what you said, and answered no to replacing the materials and of course yes for replacing the objects. However, it still does not work! I am still getting spurious reflections in the rendering. Can you email the entire 3DS file so I can try it? Also,…
#My "buggy" file
Message #24017
Gary, thanx much for looking at my file. I got it last saturday, but I have been very busy with another project, so I just looked at it yesterday. I downloaded your file and extracted ANIL.3DS from it. I then merged it into my file and told 3ds to select…
Document Filing system
Message #18689
I am looking for a raster documnet file management system. I have heard of Optigraphics, but I'm looking for something less expensive. The novell network is already in place, but some software and scanners are required. Something like Autobase (sorry, Automanager Workflow) for raster files. Any suggestions, anyone? Anil
I'm in Milwaukee, WI. But I'm in Madison, WI once a week. We have a user group here in Milwaukee, do you? Anil
Boy, now I am really impressed! And you chose to go into Architecture? Anil
Roger, There is already a user group in the Milwaukee area!!!! Mike Bahr and I co-founded it last summer. Both of us have been too busy to organize for a few months so there have no meetings for a while. However, I am ready to get fired up again. Of…
This might be forward of me, but I would like to see your tape too. Especially if it has to do with Architectural Stuff. Tell me where to send the check. Anil

I have used Autoflix, (back in the good old days) and am now using 3DStudio with AA Pro to do a much better job. We have an Electrostatic plotter on which we are trying to print these images but not having much luck. I have meanwhile found a place around…
#Sound cards
Message #8060
Joe, you may want to look into the CDPC released by Media Vision. Their number is (510) 770-8600. This may be more than what you are looking for, if all you want is a sound card. It consists of an external box that hooks into your PC via an interface…
Bob, wow! that's one heckuva way to capitalize! Boggles the eyes! When passing an entity to commands such as DIVIDE (and BREAK etc.), you want to provide both an entity and a point pick (like what ENTSEL gives you). So do this: (command "DIVIDE" (list en (cdr (assoc 10 d)))…
Dennis, look for unexpected occurrences of the ACAD.PGP file (particularly in the diretory where you are having this problem). Use the FILES command to check if this file is in the current directory. Anil
Evan, Good! I thank you. My orphan plotter thanks you. Anil
Woof! Woof! Anil
Duff, yes, I could write a plot script(s). But that means I would have to write more than 20 different plot scripts (different scales and sheet sizes alone), and I am still preventing the user from modifying any of the other parameters in the plot command. I know it's not…
Claude, Based on your reply to me and Carl, seems like XREF will work for you. Unless I still don't understand your problem. Anil
Duncan, sounds like he needs to do some lisp programming. Using Handles, he could keep a link between the block and it's dimension. A lisp program could read his block and the handle of the dimension, then read the dimension itself. Of course Blocks can be scaled/sized in any axes.…
Thanx, Dude. Anil
Sounds really good, and that price is not bad if it can do 24 bit. Is that price (S)treet, (L)ist or Lowest (K)nown. Does it output NTSC, or grab from such a source? Anil

Jeff, In the ICON section of the menu, go and look for the sub-section (starts with **) that brings up the fonts. Note the name. I think they are called FONTS1, FONTS2 and FONTS3. You can them pop that icon menu with these two statements: (menucmd "i=fonts") (menucmd "i=*") Anil

#r11 Novell lock files!!
Message #28483
Claude, it would make no sense to allow all users to access the same drawing in order to modify it. At least not the way AutoCAD's database is constructed. The only way to do this is on a read-only basis. IOW, a number of users can use the file as…

Ooops!! Yes, I inadvertently deleted the line containing the 40 and 70 group codes, when I put in the 1 and 2 groups. Should have checked the ARM more carefully. Thanx, it works just fine now! Anil P.S. I have another one for you. I am trying to send two…
#3D-ISIS
Message #7712
When I was at one of Autodesk's road shows, I saw a company called 3D-ISIS, demonstrating some software for the furniture industry. Does anybody know their whereabouts, phone number etc.. Please reply if you know the answer, a good friend needs to get in touch with them before wednesday for…
Robert, Thanx for the input. I think I am going to go with Lumena. Now, I have to find the money! Anil
Kevin, A lot of information is available to everybody. Not everyone has the time or resources to get (and retain) all this information. If you provide information that is other wise readily available but provide it in an easier format, there is nothing ethically wrong with it. I often do…
Does that 1/6th image fill your entire screen? If so, you are not using the 640×480 driver and are still in 320×200 mode. You need to a) load the VESA driver for that card – it may come with the card or look in your \ani\vesa for the correct driver.…
George, not sure what you are asking, but you could probably use AAPro's ANICONV program to do any conversions *to* the old animator format. (I assume that's what you were asking). Anil
Gary, Speaking of that, I heard some rumbles that there might be a you-know-what for 2.0? Please, don't make the mistake Autodesk did with AutoCAD 2.5, it is going to p* off a lot of people (maybe including me)! Hope all is going well with 2.0….I for one am looking…

Jack, That might explain it. I have about 14meg free (on a 330 meg disk, after I got rid of over 100 meg of stuff over the past few months). Talk about hard disk hell. Well, I'll have to steal someone else's machine. Thanx for the pointer. Anil

Wow! now that you mention it, it seems obvious(ly correct). Sure looked like a paper burn or sumpm to me. That reminds me of a question, and this is open to anybody. What paint/touch-up software should I be considering down the line for 24-bit images (generated by 3DS). I hated…
