Hi, In NComm go to the 'transfer' menu and select 'protocol', you will see a list that has 'xpr' in it, select it and wait for the requester. Naturally you must have xprquickb.library in LIBS:. Hope this helps. Jeff
Regis, If you have no printer…turn it off under the 'Options' menu. GPFax is trying to talk with a printer to set it up and is not getting much success if you don't have one connected. See page 34 of the GPFAX manual for more info. JeffS
Hi, There have been some questions concerning my warning about the various patches around for GPFax software. Here are two of postings on Supra's BBS (503-967-2444) from the SYSOPs (Tech Service Dept.) on there. Read into them what you will, I'll take them as a caveat to avoid applying the…
Hi, From what I read, you really shouldn't experience much in the way 'problems' by applying the various patches around. The authors of GPFax are quite active on Usenet/Internet and apparently are initially distributing patches from there to various FTP sites. It is their software and they can do what…
Hi, I was just on the Supra BBS last night and got this bit of information. The current GPFax patches available are _betas_ and not yet approved by Supra for use with their new ROM's. I would hesitate to apply any of these patches if you own a SupraFAXModem until…
Hi Doug, Yes it happens (tension levels). Unfortunately SAS seems to have withdrawn and here you are holding the bag, so to speak. Since the 'absorption' of Lattice, SAS seems to have made very little progress in reaching the common user. There is no 800 number (not uncommon recently) but…
Hi Steve, Sorry I didn't reply earlier but I live in Miami and we had this small problem with the weather earlier this week 8-). I just got power back 3 hours ago. I suppose I will upgrade to 6.0 eventually but as Steve Ahlstrom pointed out, I was initially…
Ok, I just wanted to make sure that something worthwhile was being added beyond a pretty GUI (that I'll never see/use being a firm CLI user). The advertisement didn't really go into depth and as a long time Lattice/ SAS C user (with plenty paid into past upgrades), I just…
#SAS C Upgrade $$$
Message #27026
Hi, Just curious and wanted to take a poll about how SAS C users feel about the upgrade price of $109.00 (plus local sales tax) to go from version 5.xx to version 6.x ? Admittedly, to buy in new will cost $395 but…whew…$109 to upgrade…I dunno. Maybe DICE is looking…
Chris, First off, what model Amiga are you using, what modem, what version of WorkBench and is it from ROM or Disk/KickStart,and what baud rate and settings are you using? Several things may be happening but hard to tell without more info. Hope to Help, Jeff
Hi, I have the SupraFaxModem V.32 (same thing just limited to 9600) and it works fine. The speaker is actually too loud so I've set it at L0 (the default is L2). Have you called Supra about it? Jeff
David, Thanks for the advice! I'll try it. I also note that my version of the xprzmodem protocol is 2K smaller than Steve's. Hmmm…perhaps that's it(mine is 17752). If I'm having this much trouble with a new modem, I can hardly wait for what goes on with my new 68030.…
Steve, Thanks for the reply. Just to check what is the size/version of your xprzmodem.library. Perhaps it might boil down to that since the other xpr libs seem to work. Thanks, Jeff
#XPR,BT,Supra…HELP!
Message #57104
Hi, I've written about this before but the advice received hasn't helped much, therefore I'll try once again. 8) I have a vanilla Amiga 2000 (68000), GVP autobooting HD, 2058 RAM expansion card(fully populated), WB 2.04 ROM w/software and a brand new SupraFAXModem V.32 (supports v.42bis). The latter is the…
Bob, I'm actually using a 7 wire cable with gold contacts and extra shielding. My problem seems to be with the xprzmodem.library (v2.10) and /or my settings. Actually I seem to have 2 versions of the lib. One is supposed to be 2.5x but when I do a 'version' on…
Mike, Thanks for the reply. I did go to the serial area of prefs and shove the sucker as far to the right as I could 8-). I did get xprquickb to work (at least it D/L'd ok but gave me a ton of 'gurp' when I logged off right…
Hi Bob, Thanks for the info. I have CTS/RTS turned on in Prefs (using 2.04). I believe the modem takes care of the rest when the factory setting is used. Thanks Jeff
Hi, I just purchased the SupraFAXModem V.32 (same basic machine but limited to 9600 baud) and was curious as to what term program you guys are using. I'm using BackTalk and have had poor success with it using XPR protocols. If you are using a term program with XPR's what…
Supra 9600 Help
Message #56016
Hi, I'm getting a new SupraFAXModem V.32. I just need some tips on using it properly (the modem end of things). Is there a right/wrong way to set it up for use here on CIS? For use on BBS's in general? How do I get the most out of the…
Steve, The problem disappeared when I stopped using FR_BYPASS in my startup-sequence. I did d/l Khalid's latest version of it and tried that but still got a crash when selecting a font. Things run fine without it but every time I use BT with FR_BYPASS and select a font… I…
#Backtalk problem
Message #45479
Hi, I'm having a problem with Backtalk. I just fully converted over to WB2.04 (the ROM chip, etc). I transferred all of the Backtalk files to their recommended directories. Now if I try to change the font to anything but the 2 resident fonts (Topaz 8/9) the system locks up with…
Hi, Sorry to jump in but I find I must agree with sentiments presented in previous postings. I do not like your choice in determining color schemes. I've tried various options after decreasing the main screens white color to a shade of gray and losing the '3D' effect, and been…
Jane, The -E option is documented on the SAS 5.10 disks (one of the readme files on the disk). I think it's on disk #1 and it doesn't have an icon, so you have to scout around for it using either a reader or a disk utility that has one.…
Jack, I don't really recall sating your product was of little use,but if that's the impression you got,I'm sorry. I did state I only used ATALK-III in a pinch when I need it's protocols or emulations. I think if you followed this thread I was quite reasonable about comparing products…
James, I'm glad we agree…8). As I stated JRComm gets rave reviews here in Miami. I'm sure it's a fine product and Mr. Radigan seems to be very concerned and interested in keeping his product up to what he sees as what the public user wants. I wish every program…
James, I'll stick by my statement that it's too big. As for the rest, as far as I can tell, JRComm is a big hit here in Miami, on both the public and pirate boards. People rave about it. It just isn't what I need in a telecomm program. As…
Jack, I tried out JR-Comm version 94.b and didn't really like it so I never sent in a registration. I looked at more recent version(1.01) recently and noted that SkyPix had been added which seemed to have greatly increased the size of the program. I've seen SkyPix elsewhere and was…
Hi Steven, I really hate to disagree with Betty(I really do) but I've found ATALK III to be one of the worst comm programs next to ATERM available. For one thing,it `hogs' the serial.device and if you run any front end programs that don't have dialers(as I do) you will…
Hi Tim, I've found the Berry book helpful because you have to correct the typos to get anything in it to compile/run right. The best Amiga book I've found is Rob Peck's book 'Programmer's Guide to the Amiga'. You may have to special order it but it's well worth the…
How glad I am you asked about the Amiga and the scientific community. I am a physical chemist who(at one point in time) specialized in reaction kinematics for radioisotopes. I was at a comvention about 6 months ago(ACS I think) and the topic was 'Computers in Chemistry'. On display there…

Add 'S' to the list also. No delivery since the September issue with 18 months left on a 2 year subscription. JeffS
Thanks, Will do.
Steve, I just tried it with various baud rates, pref settings and adjusted the char/line delays. It locked up after transmitting about 6 lines each time I tried it. Any suggestions? (Access!'s functions still worked but the screen was dead to input from the chat window and without the chat window…
#Access! and Supra 2400zi
Message #50849
Keith, Just wanted to let you know that I've been playing around the ASEND in Access! and MikeM was correct. Since I used the install script provided by Supra for the 2400zi the ASEND no longer seems functional. If on CIS it will disconnect and lockup the system. I also…
