#47820 Standalone PS? Message #47900
From: Lori Haines Adobe Forum · PostScript March 5, 1992 3:17 PM
Dear Syndesis It seems like Word is creating a corrupted PS file. To use SendPS under System 7, you have to move the LW drive from Extensions folder and place it loose in the System folder. Try using FontDownloader instead of SendPS under System 7. Michael Sh
#13317 AFM to WID Message #13376
From: Lori Haines Adobe Forum · PostScript October 6, 1989 6:18 PM
David- To convert AFM files to Ventura WID files is a two step process. You must first convert the AFM file to a VFM file using the AFMtoVFM.exe utility. The VFM file must then be converted to a WID file by using the VFMtoWID.exe utility. This is discussed on page…

Jackie- I spoke with the technical support staff and they agree that you need to get the updated WPRINT6.all file, dated 9/14/89, that includes ITC Clearface. If your .all file is dated 9/14/89 then let me know and we'll investigate from there. Nancy Runge Adobe Systems

From: Lori Haines Adobe Forum · Videophile October 5, 1989 5:59 PM
Steve – I am not sure that I follow your question. Are you actually having a problem printing out the fonts that you have in you system, or were you just _told_ that you would have a problem? What application are you using? There should not be any impact on…

From: Lori Haines Adobe Forum · PostScript October 4, 1989 4:36 PM
Lenox – There are a couple of options here – there is a utility in LIB3, UNSTUF.ARC that will "unstuff" .SIT files on your IBM PC. If that is not feasible I would be happy to upload an ASCII version. Let me know! Lori

#13217 pcsend Message #13252
From: Lori Haines Adobe Forum · Service Bureaus October 3, 1989 12:52 PM
Joseph, PCSEND is packaged with the Adobe Type Library packages for the IBM. Since you purchased your fonts from Linotype, you will need to check with them to see if they have PCSEND available at this time. Lori Haines
From: Lori Haines Adobe Forum · Forum Business October 3, 1989 12:52 PM
Jackie – If your computer and printer communicate through a serial interface (as opposed to parallel or "standard Centronics port) then you would use PSDOWN to download fonts. If you did purchase an Adobe Typeface package from this person, you should have the user's manual which explains printer communication settings…

From: Lori Haines Adobe Forum · Typeface Lib/IBM September 29, 1989 6:28 PM
Tom – A couple of the technical support folks here have been doing some testing with OS/2. We don't currently have a font product for OS/2 applications, but they were successful using PCSEND to send a printer font via the DOS shell in OS/2. They suggested you might try running…

From: Lori Haines Adobe · Printers/Hardware January 4, 1989 6:01 PM
Geoffrey, I would have to assume you have Apple's versions of these screen fonts, especially if they came with your IINT. You can tell for sure by checking to see if you have the style variations of the various fonts, for example o you have Palatino Bold, Italic and Bold…

From: Lori Haines Adobe · Getting started January 4, 1989 6:00 PM
Carlos, You are not "missing" the Pantone color file for uncoated paper, the mentioning of the uncoated file was an error in the manual. This one file should be sufficient and your printer can assist you with any concerns you have WRT color output, paper stock, weight, etc, etc. As…

From: Lori Haines Adobe · Service Bureaus/DTP January 4, 1989 6:00 PM

#7557- Varityper Message #7622
From: Lori Haines Adobe · Printers/Hardware January 4, 1989 5:59 PM
Jon, Not to jump in on this, but in your example of incomplete font families you cited the absence of ITC Garamond Light and ITC Clearface Black– both faces are currently available from Adobe. Anyhow, I have forwarded your suggestion, that we add more weights to existing font families, to…
scn fonts for mac Message #7621
From: Lori Haines Adobe · Typeface Library January 4, 1989 5:59 PM
Scot, Sorry, I don't know the difference between StuffIt 1.5 and 1.5.1. You may or may not have noticed that I jumped right from version 1.2 to 1.5.1. "Bug fix" rings a bell though, and from what I understand 1.5 had not been around long when 1.5.1 took its place.…
#7310 #Screen Fonts Message #7356
From: Lori Haines Adobe · Typeface Library December 20, 1988 1:31 PM
As far as I know, the final output quality would not be affected. What would be (possibly) is the spacing going from screen to printed page and the look of the fonts on your screen. Either way, what prints out is going to be the PostScript font built into your…
#7262- #PORT MAC FONTS TO IBM Message #7292
From: Lori Haines Adobe · Typeface Lib/IBM December 16, 1988 1:37 PM
The version of the fonts Adobe is currently selling cannot be transferred to an IBM and downloaded. The fonts are in MAC binary format and can only be downloaded from a Macintosh. (Our copy-protected version of the fonts, which were replaced quite some time ago, could be saved as a…

#6835- Illus.'88 & RSG 4.0a Message #6850
From: Lori Haines Adobe · DeskTop Publishing November 23, 1988 6:57 PM
Lance, I have heard of this problem before-fonts print correctly from a new RSG 4.0 document, but default to Courier within an EPS file from AI88. Try manually downloading the fonts before printing the RSG file. -Lori Haines
#6839- #Running AI88 with 1Mb Message #6849
From: Lori Haines Adobe · Getting started November 23, 1988 6:57 PM
Jesse, I wasn't aware that part of the problem was related to color monitors. Can you elaborate on what Jasmine said? I would certainly hope and think that there will be a solution, but don't want to venture so far as to suggest that you do or do not return…
#6843 Ventura & Optima Message #6848
From: Lori Haines Adobe · Typeface Lib/IBM November 23, 1988 6:56 PM
Mark, Good luck then with the new versions–it does seem odd though that the problem only occurred with Optima. Well, like you said, hopefully the matter will become academic! -Lori
#6754- IBM screen font problem Message #6813
From: Lori Haines AmigaTech · Printers/Plotters November 21, 1988 12:36 PM
I believe your problem is that you need to run the NEWFON utility. Microsoft changed the format of the screen font files for Windows 2.0 or greater – to update your screen font files you will need to run this utility, provided by MicroSoft as part of the 2.0 package.

From: Lori Haines Amiga Vendor · Impulse November 15, 1988 5:23 PM
Hello again! OK, the amount of space that this font family took up sounds reasonable. Depending if you are using the old or new version of our IBM PC fonts, you can install only selected point sizes to conserve space (version 1) and regardless of which version you have you…

#6606- WIndows & Adobe Fonts Message #6623
From: Lori Haines Amiga Vendor · Syndesis November 8, 1988 5:13 PM
I do not know if Adobe is planning on coming out with separate fonts for monitors of different resolutions. If we had more point sizes available, the font mapper would probably decide that the font selected was the best match, but currently when it takes into consideration other variables such…
