Hallo Jack, here are my problem report about OS/2 add drivers June / May Versions Hardware: IBM P70 with T228 and HD FUJITSU M2623S-512 and CDROM NEC CDR 38 and MO FUITSU 2511A second P70 with T338 Softeware: IBM dos 5.02 and trantor dos aspi drivers OS/2 2.1 and trantor…
We don't know yet how updates will be handled. Info will be posted here when that is worked out.
The release of the new SCSIworks! package is delayed from June, but imminent. When it is released, there will be a posting here. It does contain a work-around for the problem experienced with the Loom disc. The actual mechanism for updates isn't clear yet. There are some major changes in…
For NEC driver versions for the T128 and DOS, you need to contact NEC. That card hasn't been sold by us for over a year now, and I'm not sure what drivers NEC is supplying with their OEM version. If you supply NEC with some information (not just 'I'm having…
In Adobe Illustrator, I created blank templates for the inlay card, booklet and silk screen art. I think I'll upload them to the library! They'd have to be considered "beta" because this artwork hasn't been sent to the printer or the replication house, but…
Philip, The One-Off CD Shops (section 6) are dealers for several CD-R hardware and software vendors, including some that can do audio as well as CD-ROM. Look in the Section 6 library for the files describing our shops and their locations to find the one most convenient to you. Or…
Jack, I also have some questions about updating SCSIworks from TRANTOR Support. 1) Could the TRANTOR Support send the updating Floppy Disk to me in Japan? 2) If I can, I need pay some updating fee or shipping fee? 3) If so, can I use credit cards to pay the…
"Make sure you don't have the /T command on the Trantor .ADD if you are using the .FLT file and OS2CDROM.DMD" Thanks Jack. I tried every option to get the June T128SCSI.ADD loaded but under OS2 2.1 GA it just won't work. Eventually I managed to get sound by using…

Message #881
Jack I'm using a Sony CD-ROM CDU561-01 connected to a PAS16 card and with the SCSIworks drivers mamv1.sys v1.06 and tslcdr.sys 3.02. I have some problems with some cd games – Loom, Inca. I saw a message some time ago that suggested that there would be a June update to…

Grolier's DOS no Aud PAS
Message #879
Using Grolier's MultiMedia Encyclopedia, 1992, for DOS 5, in pioneer DRM-604X multiplatter drive, 33 mhz 386 system, DOS 5.0, qemm 6.02, PAS-16 (irq=7, dma=3, SB emulation default irq=5, dma=1). Unable to get sound via sound card – presence or absence of sndbk12.sys (and its interrupt and dma specs) makes no…
The Philips CDD521 Compact Disc Recorder is capable, with certain software, to create audio CD's. You will first need a quality soundcard capable of sampling at 44.1 KHz, in stereo, to digitize the audio you wish to place on CD. The CDD521 can be purchased with the necessary software to…

The newest driver is dated at Match 1993, i have it, I can send it to you if you, if you like it, please let me know. Hal 9000
It sounds like you are having IRQ problems. Try changing the jumper position at DACK2 to another DACK position on the jumper block and see if that helps at all. If that doesn't work, then your motherboard may just be incompatible with the LL upgrade method.
You can try forcing an IRQ if you like… make sure you add the /Ix command line parameter for the IRQ number as well as the jumper on the T130. The address of the card shouldn't make a difference, but you can try changing that, too, if you like. That's…
#Sony Drivers fr PhotoCD
Message #873
My driver works fine, but whenever I load it, I cannot access my A-Drive or B-Drive. Per instructions from your hotline, the load command omits an IRQ specification, and the messages which appear during boot contain a "No IRQ" line and no error messages. But, if I try to access…

What is the latest version for the Sound Blaste Pro Windows software? -Dave
Jack, Thanks for your efforts to date. I appreciate your attempt to replicate the problem. I'm sure the problem is specific to my machine configuration. I work in technical support too, and understand that when a problem can't be replicated it's very hard to make any progress. Are there any…
SP Support on This Forum
Message #870
Rich, I have asked our Technical Support department if they are willing to handle support for our products and services on this forum. They have advised me that they are willing to make the commitment. I will be having the manager of that group, Becky Lockwood or one of her…
Bob, I am not aware of the DOT file being on CD. We are looking at MSDS data in hopes of publishing a large number of them as a collection for diverse users. While there are many large collections, most organizations don't want to carry any liability for the information…
Thanks, Jack! It sure is nice having a straight line to the real story! I'll pass that along to our headquarters and the shop that was asking about it. Kathy
Sounds to me like you may have a cabling problem. Best bet is to contact the Adaptec Tech Support line at 800-959-SCSI (800-959-7274) I'm not really up to speed on the 1540 series products, but they can give you the right info there.
No, as far as I know, they haven't been recalled. There have been some in-line changes made because of problems found with some poorly shielded cables on the market… but I wouldn't worry about your existing cards and setups at all.
I haven't found termination to be a big issue with the PAS and multiple devices. You DO have to make sure you are using different SCSI id's for each device and you DO have to install both the HD and CD drivers from the SCSIworks! package… you can't use the…
With DOS 6, the only thing that is different is you need to use the MSCDEX.EXE that comes with DOS 6. Earlier versions are not compatible. Other than that, there shouldn't be any problem.
MediaVision updates their customers that have the CD-ROM drivers that MediaVision supplies. Trantor updates customers that have purchased the Trantor SCSIworks! package. It's that simple!
Well, you have me stumped. I can't even reproduce a mouse-caused problem in our labs, so maybe someone else will have some ideas. Or maybe it is just a quirk of those particular discs. Isn't Windows fun???
If you contact Chinon, they have a 40 to 50 pin converter. Then you will need to see if FD has a driver that will work with that drive. If so, you are all set. If not, you will need to get the FD PowerSCSI drivers from their BBS and…
Thanks. I just didn't want to be *too* obnoxious! You're perfectly welcome to kibitz in our section anytime, too. Kathy
Jack, I currently have the Trantor V3.02 driver which I purchased from Media Vision to work with their PAS16 sound card. I hope I don't have to purchase SCSIworks! to get a driver upgrade. I will contact Trantor technical support. Thank You, Ken
Try removing VCDROM.386 from the [386Enh] section of your SYSTEM.INI file. Some Microsoft titles have a problem with this driver. As an alternative, try executing a MOUNT command from the CD NET WORKBENCH to mount the CD before selecting the Developer CD from your Workbench menu list of CD-ROM titles.
Not yet.
Heck, no. I'm glad to have you hear. Besides, I stuck my nose into your forum first .

#Adaptec 1542 reboots
Message #852
I don't know if this is the proper forum but: I have been trying to get a Bernoulli 90 transportable 90 Pro to work with an Adaptec 1542C on a 486 since early March. I have just installed EZ-SCSI and version 1.2 of the OAD drivers. I have spent hours…
Bob, I will try disabling COM1 on my motherboard, just to see if it affects anything, and put my mouse on COM2. However, Jack (from Trantor) says that my T130 SCSI host adapter simply does NOT use an IRQ. So the IRQ conflict (if any) can't be with the T130…
I guess I got two messages…but one additional thing caught my eye. You're using a sound card. Have you contacted the mfj. about it? I've heard many people have trouble with conflicts on those… Bob
Hi James. Boy, looks as though you have a pretty stubborn quirk there. As I recall, you were having a problem with IRQ4 conflict. Perhaps you could try disabling COM1 on your system (mother) board. You know…I bet there is something else trying to use IRQ 4. I think you're…

In the LAN Times review of the NETSCRIBE it stated that there was a maximum file size of 26MB. Is this true? (I've seen enough mistakes in reviews of our own products to take them with a shaker of salt). If so why? David
#Connecting SCSI CD ROM
Message #847
I recently got a Chinon CDS-431 CD-ROM Drive. This is an SCSI Drive, but uses only 40 pins. As I alreday use an SCSI Host Adapter, I would like to connect this CD-ROM Drive to my Future Domain SCSI Interface with 50 pins. Is this possible? And how can I…
#Adaptec AHA-1542C
Message #846
Jack, We've had a question from one of our shops about an Adaptec card, the 1542C. Someone had told them that the entire stock of 1542Cs had been recalled. Is this true? If so, what steps should he take? Thanks, Kathy
Michael, When you say "optical drives" do you mean magneto-optical, or CD-ROM? This forum is about CD-ROM, but if you're interested in magneto-optical perhaps someone here can tell you where to find information about it on CIS. Kathy Cochrane
