Eduard, TThe scrollbars would be a great improvement! As might be a seperate progress window, as long as we are also able to switch it of. Is there any possibility to include a new trace mode into POV 2.0? To be more precise, a wireframe mode, so that our debugging…

Hi Per, For POV-Ray there's a couple of possibilities for modellers. There's POVCAD that runs under Windows, PV3D that runs under dos, Lutz is working on a modeller too. There's a 3DSPOV converter for using 3DS data in POV-Ray models (works pretty good) and some other converters for using DXF…

POV-Ray excells over 3DS when it comes to reflection and refraction, just try to make some curved glass objects and compare. POV-Ray also does more correct shadows, 3DS may make them nice and fuzzy but not that correct . 3DS renders much faster. Erkki Read action !

For direction, try LOOK_AT(SPLINE(T+1)) or LOOK_AT(SPLINE(T+1)+SPLINE(T)-SPLINE(T-1)). I think the second one will giver better results. In order to vary the speed, you can calculate 100 times as many spline points, and then increase T by SPEED/100 (and use int(T) in all SPLINE statments). For a rollercoaster, SPEED = sqrt(H-Y). I'm not sure if this will give the right effect or not, but here's the acceleration: SPLINE(T+1)+SPLINE(T-1)-SPLINE(T)*2 Where T=Time (Frame number) and SPLINE(T) is the current X,Y,Z coordinates. You may get better/smoother results if you average the look_at and acceleration values for 2 or 3 frames before you use them.…
