Robert AApro comes with the drivers you need for the Wacom 510 series. Go to Extras/Configure/Mouse/Other, I think. I don't have aapro up so I'm guessing but I will try later today and let you know if there are any major differences. Also, the right mouse can be accessed with,…
Greg Is there any connection between the party Sunday and the fact the thread is Chaos? Yes, I arrive Sat. afternoon and will have some meetings on Sunday but certainly be around Sunday night. Thanks TedB

Boston Area 3DS User Group Everyone is welcome The meeting this month will be on Thurs. 15 July which is the third Thurs.,not the second. Wentworth is closed on the 8th! Wentworth Institute of Technology 550 Huntington Ave (corner of Ruggles) Boston MA 02110 Call Ted Boardman 603.431.4334 for info
Mike I render to disk and take the TGA to a service bureau to be transfered to 4×5 film and reproduced with straight photo printing. The benefits are: more control in the colors, more varied output sizes with no regard to resolution, reasonable prices. Go to a professional photo house,…
I'd love to buy an autographed copy of the new books and just to talk shop! Call me at 603.431.4334 in Portsmouth, NH and we'll work out a meeting.
Steven I created a golf ball with AME last year and the results were terrible. I had less than 200 dimples (300 plus is realistic) and the final DXF file was over 26 megs. If this is for a commercial project the Viewpoint ball is a real bargain. Good luck!…

I've been using a board from Visual Circuits 612.560.6025 with NTSC/PAL/Svhs output, NTSC/PAL digitizing,genlocking/overlay and a suite of utilities to create animations from 24bit TGA files. Other utilities allow FLC file to be joined or overlayed onto TGA's with no palette restrictions. It uses a custom format and special hardware…
Rick Use RGrad ink… see page 2-42 in the manual Have fun TedB
Michele, I'll see what I can find and Email the result, asap. TedB
Michele Count me in! Also, most every dealer should provide your book of tips with each copy of 3DS sold to cut down on the support calls (do you think there are any dealers lurking?) I've been following your travel's on line here with envy, I spent six years working…
Aaron I had trouble with 386max and 32megs a while back. Getting out of any Adesk product would take 2-3 minutes until returning C:>. Switching to Qemm took care of the problem. Just for your information. TedB
David I'm not really sure yet what the boards full capabilities are yet. The demo tape I saw had very fast ,good color animations, very good overlay examples, and it does 15bit capture and over/underscan. The list price is $1795. I'm going try to get ahold of a board to…
Excellent, Chris! I'm bringing a demo tape from Visual Circuits for a board which will do some pretty nice dumping to tape without color palette problems and in real time. I'd like to get your thoughts on the technology! See you Thursday TedB

Thanks, Martin. I'm on a long distance line to CIS so don't do downloading unless it's of value and will plead dumb to all but collecting and sending messages. ….and that took a while. Thanks for the help TedB

I can't seem to locate the Makeifl.??? file on CIS and am going to need it next week. Can anyone point to it's location for me. I'm sure I had it somewhere on one of these hard drives…… Thanks TedB
Ang Sorry about that! The voice number is 1.415.323.6592. Us technonurds are supposed to like that high pitched squeal. TedB
Ang I've found PixoFoto and PixoFoto Lite (only 24 bit and no color separation) to be very helpful in editing TGA files. Both programs offer good paint/image manipulation capabilities and, best of all for me, they don't require Windows. PixoFoto is around $800 and you can get PixoFoto Lite for…
Paul I thought that would be the answer but had to ask. The service bureau is getting a PC eventually so transfer of targa/tiff files will be simpler on my end. Thanks for the quick response. TedB

Does anyone know of a way to transfer large files from DOS to a Mac via 1.44meg floppies. I'm looking for a utility similar to slice.com or split.exe to put large files on multiple floppies as it's the only media we have in common. Thanks. TedB

Doug I use AAPRO with DRDOS 6, Superstor, and Qemm with no problems. Chose a graphics card which supports VESA "standards" and get all the ram you can afford. Have Fun! TedB
Jean-Paul Like I say, JP, 386MAX only seems to cause problems with 32 megs. By all means try it first, the problems aren't fatal. I've used it on other machines for years and have been happy with it. I've also been using SuperStor with DRDOS for a couple of years…
Dwayne, For Autodesk training in your area call 1.415.491.8222 for the name of the nearest Authorized Training Center, if you don't already know. Let the people at that number know that you are looking for Multimedia training and if it's not yet available in your area please let the center…
Jeff Contact Dave Hawkins at DVK 1.408.436.0100 for information on humans created in and for 3DS by Thomas Knight. The are nothing short of spectacular! The hierarchial linking is complete and there are many styles and degrees of dress, they have male and females movable hands as options, and they…
Jean-Paul I was using 386MAX 6.02 on my 486 w/32 meg and was experiencing very slow exiting from Autocad and 3DS. It took several minutes to get back to the DOS prompt. Switching to QEMM took care of the problem. Another machine (386 w/ 8meg) seems to be fine with…

Roger Which 2D animation package does a better job? Try to keep the comments specific so we can all learn how to use the to make better use of the program and so the Yost Group will have a wish list to work from when updating. Thanks TedB
Alex Have you looked into the Next Blue feature in aapro? Page 3-43. It allows you to advance a frame and see the previous line location to trace over. It sounds to me like it does what you want, if I understood the problem. TedB
Martin I tried to model a golf ball in version 2 of the AutoCAD AME program a while back and it took two days, the dxf file was 26megs and the golf ball still wasn't very good at all. $400 is not so bad if you really need to have…

I had rebooting problems for a long time on a 386 running AutoCAD and it turned out to be an old version of the BIOS chipset. After changing the chips the problem went away. TedB
John Autodesk is currently designing curriculum for the Multimedia Training Centers for 3DStudio classes. The first classes will probably be ready to be presented in the first quarter of '93. The format for the classes will be similar to the AutoCad training at the 200 plus ATCs around the country,…
Gary, Sorry its taken so long to respond to your response. I don't have the 24 bit capability at this time so I tried enlarging the map, which gets rid of the artifacting on the icon edge but distorts the image or makes it too large for the surface. The…
