#ProWrite Bug? Message #34730
From: Peter Smithem Amiga Vendor Forum · New Horizons January 30, 1992 10:32 AM
I seem to have found another bug which is related to the one I reported a couple of days ago. If I start up a program which closes the WBench before starting up ProWrite, then open the WBench, then start ProWrite there are problems which are not consistant. ProWrite will…

Mark, While you're working on the next revision, the Arexx support could use some enhancement. It would be a lot more useful if ALL the settings could be controlled via Arexx. I've been doing quite a bit of correspondence lately and grew tired of yanking the addressee's name and address…
ProWrite Bug? Message #34286
From: Peter Smithem Amiga Vendor Forum · New Horizons January 24, 1992 11:16 AM
I seem to have found a VERY reproducable bug, which may or may not be ProWrite's problem. The program will consistently crash the machine with an out of memory error (status B101 0009) if I exit ProWrite when I'm running something else that closes the Workbench to save memory. So…

Uuencode and uudecode are not compression utilities, they encode/decode files to/from 7 bit ASCII so that uucp can deal with them. Peter

If it comes up in the selection screen with BOTH mouse buttons down it has the old ROMs. If you want to run 2.0 on it you'll have to upgrade them (about $30). Peter

I don't know that I'd want to switch ROMs WITHOUT rebooting… I had some recent experience on one of our demo units when the clip going to the reset line came loose (the machine DOES get tossed (literally) into the back of cars a lot), the machine switched ROMs a…

Steven, I believe you are correct. I played around with it a bit after finishing up on CIS and it only seems to work when the root directory on a partition is set correctly. Peter

To get the boot device selection menu you have to hold down both buttons much longer than you'd expect to for processor selection (it appears that you have to hold them until the boot ROMs have checked all the boot devices). Would have been nice if the upgrade documented the…

Versia, Yes, you need SetCPU 1.6 to load the larger ROM image for 2.0. Please disregard what I said about the CHIP ram usage (unless you only have 512K). This morning I read through the SetCPU docs again (in preparation for switching over to straight 2.0 boot, my dealer called…

May I ask why? Replacing the startup code by relinking is a MUCH better way to handle the required initialization than massaging the executable. It's unfortunate that it couldn't simply be done in main(), but of course it's too late by then.
