Glad I could help. Seems to be the best video capture board for under $1000. btw, the CIS support forum is German & English (although most posts seem to be in German for some reason). Cheers, -Scott

Albert, Main difference w/o all the jargon is that PAR output is virtually "broadcast quality" (762×480). The Miro doesn't come close. Big difference visually! (And the bundled version of Premiere is 1.0—not worth much w/o the $179 upgrade). In defense of the Miro, however, it's a good M-JPEG capture card…

Alexander, >>We have plans about releasing MARS Capture Board later this year. It will utilize real-time JPEG compression and off-line software conversion to MPEG 1. Also it will have an optional Audio compression daughter-board which will utilize MPEG 1 layer II audio compression.

Matrox Impression+ Message #152474
Is anyone using the Matrox Impression Plus with 3DS? Does this card live up to all the hype?

PMJI, but XAOS Penello plug-in for 3DS is available now! (FYI)
#151033 MARS, anyone? Message #151075
Jure, Thanks for the info. I assume MARS has no capture capability, correct? Do you happen to know if Daewoo plans to add this in the future? (How's tech support?) -Scott

Paul, Do you happen to know if Daewoo (sp?) has a demo tape for this card? Is it actually available for sale? The ad states that they haven't gotten FCC approval yet. Am I correct in assuming that rotoscoping isn't an option? (I called for info, but found it very…

I suppose the broadcast video guys don't need it, but .AVI rendering sure would be more convenient for interactive multimedia. MPEG would be good, too. Of course, DPS would most likely not be pleased. -Scott

What are the chances of some savy programmer writing an IPAS routine to allow rendering/converting 3DS directly to AVI on-the-fly? I don't want to convert flc's. Elastic Reality gives you a choice, and Truespace renders to AVI. Is this idea off-the-wall? Thanks! -Scott Lawrence

I spoke to 3D Artist Monday. Issue #17 (skeleton cover) was the last issue released. Next issue will be in the mail mid-February. So you are up to date. They apparently had some technical problems. Next issue should make up for the delay in size (according to publisher). -Scott Lawrence

Thanks again, John! -Scott btw, are you using Razor Pro?
John, Talked to DPS today….the drive they are now recommending to replace the discontinued Micropolis drive is the Conner CFA1275A–1.27gig/12ms. which retails for roughly $550. -Scott

I pre-ordered "Animator 95" Studio upgrade way back in October at the Autodesk seminar in Marina Del Rey (they told me I would receive it by December!) What I'm wondering is…when will it be released? What's the hold-up? Thanks! -scott lawrence
Thanks, Kevin! -Scott
John, Thanks for the h/d update. I'll take your advice! -Scott
Does anyone have a definitive answer regarding the harddrive DPS is going to replace the now discontinued Micropolis 2217A with? Was it axed due to reported overheating problems? (I think I read somewhere that it was going to be replaced by a Conner drive). Is this drive (and the PAR…
#921 Razor for Windows Message #2138
From: Scott Lawrence DTV Forum · 3D World January 19, 1995 2:40 AM
Razor PRO and Premiere 4.0 are very close. Calagari is a good entry-level 3D Animation program, but can't begin to compare with 3DStudio (of course, it's approx. $2000 less). But the problem with the bundle is that Razor 1.0 is included and that version pales in comparison to Premiere 4.0.…

Joel, The bundled version of Razor is version 1.0 which isn't nearly as powerful or user friendly as the *current* version of Premiere ver. 4, although it is probably on par with Premiere ver.1.0. However, the latest version of Razor is an excellent program (but then it sells for about…

PAR for Multimedia? Message #129349
