Yeah, I checked after I talked to you. Neither the Compaq Business Audio nor the MicroSoft sound card supports MIDI, nor are they really compatible with a lot of existing sound software out there.
But you CAN still play the music via the SoundBlaster; you simply need a utility like CD AUDIO that is commonly used to play regular audio CDs on a CD ROM drive. It will find the audio tracks and play them.

Official statement from MicroSoft. 2.0a was the only version when they sent the CD ROMs off for mastering. When those sell out, the next pressing will have whatever updated Word is then out.

Neither Compaq Audio nor MicroSoft's sound card really fully support mixed audio except in proprietary formats with specific drivers (MS's isn't even out yet, don't know about the Compaq). The Pro Audio Spectrum, SoundBlaster Pro and particularly the 16, and others do support this to varying degrees.
