#139208 #Pallete Convertion Message #139215
Michael, If you put your pallete (.COL file) in for a custom pallete , when you render, no matter WHAT you render, as long as you render to an 8-bit format, that image will have your custom pallete.
#Video Post wish Message #139177
From: Kyle J. McKisic Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Wishlist December 1, 1994 7:48 PM
I would like to see more than 8 tracks in the Video Post at any one time — 16 would be better or make it user-defineable as to how many VP tracks you can see, so those who like to use higher screen resolutions can see more. thanks, -Kyle
#139142 #Pallete Convertion Message #139156
It's likely that whatever program needs a .pal file, will also take a .bmp file and extract the pallete info from it. make a .col file from youe existing flic, then render an empty scene with the .col file as the custom pallete, and save the image as an 8-bit…

#138940 skin spider web Message #139022
Sanford, The earliest I'll be able to get back to work on it is Dec. 12 so take your time. yup, i think I'm still full 🙂 It would be helpful if I could get the spider model and it's walk cycle -Kyle
#138589 Color Palette Message #138643
Hi Andrew, What I would do is get your 240 colors that you will use and make the other 16 colors neon green (0,255,0) or some color you know will not be used in your flic. That way, when you render your anim to the pallete it will not use…

Dale, I'm not sure what you're refering to … the skinhead mesh I uploaded? or the jumping brick? or something else? but anyway I don't even have autocad, so I'm sure that I pulled the verticies in 3DS. > I would have selected groups of verticies on my objecs and…

#136569 Broken Bulb Message #136677
Hi Alex, –broken bulb– yup 🙂 Take a real lightbulb, break it and feed it piece by piece into your floppy drive 🙂 OK here it is but in order to do it (by my method), you'll need DISPLACE.pxp (from disk Yost disk #7) I'll assume that you've already made…

Hi Nik, I'm running the Vibrant drivers that shipped with r4.
#134761- TARGA+ configure,… Message #134912
Hi Spencer, As long as you can get TMODE to work correctly, try using the vibrant drivers and select the one that says "use tmode" just make sure that you've run TMODE and TPCLR before you run 3DS – just write the commands into a batchfile that runs 3DS. Also,…
Flame/Vapor Wish Message #134316
From: Kyle J. McKisic Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Wishlist November 8, 1994 10:12 AM
It would be VERY useful to be able to select a group of objects (from a dialog box) and update ALL the secondary motion data for those objects at once, rather than tediously doing each one at a time.

Tim, sorry about getting back to you this late. I've made a pretty complex fireball that has 5 AXP Flame boxes with 40 emmitters each on top of the disintegrated ball and it's taking about 5 min a frame at 320×200 on my P90 with 64 megs. -Kyle

Hi Sanford, I've been watching your conversation develop for the last few days, and I wanted to tell you that I figured out a web – doing it similar to how Martin was suggesting – lots of sliced pieces to form the strands. I've got a small mesh and image…

David, I'm really open to anything. The most recent thing I've uploaded is the SkinHead anim in the IPAS Usage section. I would be interested in doing some how-to's regarding using multiple ipas routines to acheive a single effect. (i.e. disintegrate+smoke+glow+flame+vapor+motion blur = a good explosion on top of a…

T-Spect Le, I have mirage and use it frequently, but not in the straight forward approach. I turn on the brightness/darkness switches and filter it over a grey background, then use the resulting flic or string of targa files as a bump/shinyness map for other objects. I am dissapointed that…

Hi David I saw your FireBall message and had to try one for myself. I made one through the following method: You'll need some of the earlier IPAS routines to use this though. 1. use Disintegrate.axp on a geodesic sphere with no explode evvelope – so it just sits there…

Guys, I used dents2.sxp on the skinned head (uploaded image sknheads.jpg) and when I started to animate it, the texture did not stay on the face correctly. It looked as if it were not pinned to the actual mesh. the only animation was 2 morph keys, and a rotational key…

Martin, goo question—it's a prospective character for an animation I'm going to do. I've got to make it walk around an do other stuff. I would rather not pull verticies for hundreds of positions. I've tried it already — no luck I think I might resort to a skinned rectangle…

#ik and b-spline in r4 Message #127580
Guys, question — Can you use ik to deform and control a b-spline patch obj? for example, let's say I build a face with b-spline patches, can I control portions of that face (lips, eyebrows, etc.) with ik bones? or does ik only aid you in moving objects? another question…
