Matt If it's pure video editing you want Adobe Premiere is the industry standard. Gold Disk's Astound has a no frills editor as well. You can probably find astound at Egghead for about $100.00. Al
Dave Thanks for the info! Al
Timi No reply/suggestions have been forthcoming. It's funny, overall AStudio has great tools, but for me performance is a problem. Whenever I bring it up w/ADESK they seem to insist that it's my personal problem (setup, config etc.) I've been trying to get the latest Win95 friendly version, but so far…
Doug What Video card/driver version are you using? I had trouble getting past the same point with ATI mach32 version 2.6 drivers. Al
Dave Thanks! Al
Hi Dave Last week I called in to make sure my registration was in order to recieve the Win95 compatible AS. Wasn't suprised to find out I wasn't on file (two separate registation cards sent in July). Was suprised when the gal (Sandra?) said she'd send me the update FEDEX…
Dave I'm using an ATI mach32 (ati version 2.3 drivers). Further experiments show Microsoft RLE compression results in fragmented images and broken up video (not due to playback but within each rendered frame). AUTODESK RLE saves in million color rez, but when I use it in Adobe Premiere I have…
Dave The file was "saved" without compression by no choice of mine. I had the compression set to RLE 256 colors. After the reboot the file came back uncompressed. it's interesting that changes made to a shorter 20 frame segment using the same filter ink and settings saved fine, it…

Well, everytime I think I'm starting to like Animator Studio I discover something totally messed up that makes me wonder just what the deal is… Tonight I loaded a 306 frame animation, selected a 70 frame segment and marqueed a section and added a filter ink to it. (this took…
Dave Thanks for the clarifications. The Airbrush tool just wasn't working previously with the clone ink and autoreset position >off
Dave Thanks for the upload. My findings: 1FWIW Is it me or does page 108 of the tutorial (Position options) call for "Auto reset source not checked (OFF)" ? 2. For whatever reason my cloning with the polygon tool *will not* work the first time you draw the polygon. It…
Behymer, I find it interesting that we're both unable to get clone ink to work. Perhaps we have something similar in our setup to point a finger at. Here's my setup: Packard Bell P5-60, 16 meg RAM, ATI mach 32 w/ 2meg VRAM 2.3 version video drivers, WFW 3.11 Dos…
Thanks! Al
Dave I too have been unable to get the clone ink to work in the diver tutorial. How about enightening both of us? Al
Brian I have the update and it does settle things down more than a bit. There are stilla few bugs that I'm having trouble with in the area of tools, but none are show stoppers. At this point the most serious caveat is that 16 Meg Ram should be listed…
Dennis I'm not quite sure what It is about my configuration under 95 that allows me to open up the program, but further looking has proved that many functions are crippled under Win95. I've gone back to running it under 3.11. I am interested in the new 32 bit versions…
Nik (and All) Sorry to raise anyone's hopes, but while I am able to get AS to run under WIN95, many of the functions are disabled. Also, attempting to use the right mouse button to bring up menu boxes results in an application hangup. Nik, this brings me back to…
Nik I haven't had a chance to put Anim Studio through it's paces yet, as I've had my hands full with WIN 95's "easy upgrade". I am able to start AS, load a file and play it. I'll post further results ASAP. Probably tonight. FWIW, I just reinstalled AS after…
FWIW I don't know what the problems your having stem from, but FWIW, I've gotten Anim studio to run under Win95, so don't give up! Al
Dave 1.c1 showed up Friday AM via FedEx . Someone must have had it expidited. Haven't had a chance to do much with it yet, but the Player improvements are very cool. The full screen option works quite well. A big improvement for those wanting to dump to tape in…
Thanks Dave! Al
I'm in the same non-upgrade boat fellas and Autodesk has promised to "rush" me one so that I can finish a review of Animator Studio with out having to totally DIS the product. So far nothing, no requested three times manual either… Al
Nik Thanks! Al
Nik Thanks for the response. Please mention to Brent the following: I'm glad to hear memory leak is addressed in new version. I've tried the new settings for undo resources and have not noticed any difference. RE: Tweening tutorial. Good call, I was doing step 6, but incorrectly. The paragraph…
Nik Thats good. It makes me happy for the owners of Cal-Comp tablets. How about MY ACECAD D-9000 Non pressure sensitive straight ahead no fancy frills digitizer though? Al

Well, I've bravely continued my journey through the Animator Studio tutorials (and judging by the horrors I've encountered, I'm beginning to think this is an area where no Autodesk beta testers have gone before) and I'm finding little to like and much to hate about Animator Studio. My magazine review…
Dave My swap file is 60 meg with over 300 free on that drive. system resources are 55%. FWIW, funny, but the wintab driver bug doesn't show up in Corel, Photoshop, Fractal Painter, Fauve Matisse, MSOffice, Photostyler, Truespace, Adobe Premiere, Pagemaker, Quad Studio, Midisoft Studio, Cakewalk, etc. only in Anim…

I'm trying to slog my way through the Animator Studio tutorial and I've run across the second werido problem. (the first being some extremely strange results when trying to add the splash to the diver avi.) I tried to do the scriptor example on pages 209-213, and when I attempt…
Randy, The CorelMOVE images were 256 color images. I rarely use any of the other Corel modules, as I have Photoshop 3.0 and absolutely detest CorelDRAW (a personal dislike of vector based drawing being the primary reason, not any particular problem with Corel per se … except the mere fact…
Randy I've been using MOVE to create individual scenes and then editing them together in Adobe Premiere. So far, I haven't noticed any particular color changes. When you finish a scene you render it to an AVI file, or to a series of sequential bitmaps. I just got a copy…
Brian What version of VFW are you using? 1.1D came with the program, 1.1E is newer, but has some conflicts with some video cards. Al
Juan Corel 5.0 has a module called CorelMOVE that does onion skins, 256 colors only Al
