#Maxiplan ???
Message #132183
Message to all: Hello, I just recently bought Maxi-Plan4 for my Amiga with the intention of setting up a spreadsheet to track my finances. I am a freelance contractor so things can get a little hairy… So, of course I have run into some trouble regarding Macros, I have written…
Mark, Thanks, I get it now. 😉 Scott
Don, Well I don't know about threaded exactly but CNet BBS software which a local sysop recently installed on his system strikes me as the most powerfull BBS software I've encountered for the Amiga. I honestly don't know if CNet supports threaded messaging as you require it but I think…
I'm interested in the SupraTurbo 28 as a stop gap measure (until I can afford a 4000 or an 040 accelerator )to prevent premature ageing while waiting for my stock 2000 to perform complex tasks. I think it would take off some of the pressure even if things went twice…
Betty, Since quickB can't be tested on any local BBS I know I think it's hard to say which is faster. Why do you say that it's faster? The ability to down or upload a selected queue with Zmodem is the reason that I like it. I didn't know that…
No problem, sometimes though I just wish CIS would offer Zmodem or SuperZmodem. I really like that protocol, I've gotten almost 2000 cps with Zmodem talking to an Amiga based BBS in my area downloading compressed data at 14.4 Scott
Gary, as far as I know CIS will always ask for 'a filename for your computer' when you access through anything other than Autopilot. I think that's on the CIS end and not your Term_inal. Scott
Gary, I too expierienced the timeout problem with quickB & TERM3.1, I think it has to do with the quickB protocol because you'll notice that the timeouts occur when the buffer gets filled and written to the HD. When you're HD light blinks suddenly you're Recieved light on the modem…
Hmmm, well James I have Term 3.1 but I have never used Y-modem with CIS as quickB gives me the fastest response. Why do you use Y-modem? In terms of new features they seem a little scarce to me, theres the wait feature and the difference in the phone book…
Gary, I don't know if this applies to your situation but, When I got my high speed modem (ZyXEL 16.8) I had a similiar problem with a BBS in my area. It would connect and then seem to switch to an alternate character set. I fixed this by simply lowering…
Chris, For my ZyXEL 1496e the register that you're wondering about is S10. A description follows: S10 Default=7; Sets the duration in tenths of second, that the modem waits after loss of carrier before hanging up. This guard time allows the modem to distinguish between a line hit, or other…
John: Thanks for the information, I am proceeding cautiously so hopefully I will only improve the situation… Scott Nelson ]/exit
Karl, Thanks for the info, appreciated. Scott
Don, Thanks for your idea. I am going to move my speakers but I have a feeling the problem is going to require a service call….Although one can hope Scott
Steve, Really? That's very interesting. A staff member at my local computer store told me his theory about stereo speakers being the cause and it seemed likey to me as my problems began about 2 1/2 weeks after I moved my monitor to a location where my speakers are now…
Steve, I understand, I think I will have to turn this over to a pro. By the way I heard this problem can be caused by having your monitor to close to speakers? My monitor is about 2 feet from speakers on either side but if this is the case…
Roger that Don………Thanks Scott
Steve, Thanks for the info, if I could afford the repair I would but…. I am going to have to figure this one out. Apparently there are small holes on the bottom of the 1950's case which are for some sort of adjustment. Maybe they can adjust the yoke… The…
Display Adjustment?
Message #53614
Hello, I have a question for anyone who knows. Is there a way to adjust the vertical size of a monitor display so that it is proportioned correctly? When I use a paint program like dp4 or when I use Distant Suns I wonder about the proportion of my screen,…
Thanks for the information Bruce, I will open the case of my monitor and take a look, if it seems straightforward enough I will go ahead and attempt the adjustment. I'll let you know how it goes… Scott
#Monitor Troubles!
Message #22052
Hello, I have a question for anyone out there who knows anything about monitors, specifically Commodore's 1950 multisync monitor. I have been using this monitor since I bought my Amiga 2000. It is used in conjunction with a Commodore 2320 display enhancer card. Now, heres the question… Within the last…
Anything in particular that you know of would be helpfull and appreciatied. Thanks…Scott
I think your right… well I hope the pals arrive before my warranty expiration date, which is soon! Thanks…Scott
Thanks for your reply Rodger, I am dialing direct to cis, also what should I look for on pin 25 of my cable. In addition, another aspect of my problem is that jr-comm will say it is dialing the number but the modem is not responding, then I will reboot…
#modem/dos problem?
Message #19864
Don, Would a zapped 8520 cia chip cause intermittant problems? Would there be any other problems caused by this chip failing that I would notice? Thanks…Scott
#modem/dos problem?
Message #19863
Thanks Don, What really bothers me is the fact that my problems are intermittant, ie. I am fully functional NOW but any second I could have a stream of garbage coming onto my screen, or the next time I try to call compuserve perhaps I won't be able to dial.I…
#modem/dos problem?
Message #19350
Hi, I'm wondering if the upgrade to amigados 2.0 has anything to do with the intermittant failure of my modem: ie. not intializing properly, or sudden spewing garbage charactors onto my screen, or multiple errors when dl'ing and the list goes on… I have a penril datacom cadet 2400 modem…
