Amiga HD floppy drives
Message #216471
Having seen a few messages from folks wanting high-density Amiga floopies, I thought this may be prudent to post: From Consultron (The CrossDos people) >>We have a very, very limited supply of Amiga high-density drives left. Once these drives go, we have no more. These drives are the Chinon `true'…
Thanks Sean. I have tried some bone configurations, though I didn't mention that it's a full screen BG effect, so there's some loss of impact by not seeing the edges of the mesh. Basically, I found that I needed to enhance the look of a displacement mapped poly mesh, so…
#Silk or Satin FX
Message #48261
I've been trying to get a decent "billowing silk or satin" effect with LightWave. Often-seen effect looks like a shiny flag waving, with specular highlights (somewhat similar to the cape animation at the end of "Lois and Clark"). I've tried unsuccessfully to emulate this effect properly in LightWave with multiple…
Thanks Steve, I'll give it a whirl. (so to speak) Trent/ReAnimators
Rick: Innovatronics is history. Don't know about the latest rev of Opus. Haven't heard anything about DevWare. As far as Axiom goes, Pixel 3D V2 has been out for some time and they have stated that they have abandoned all Amiga-related development. Wish the news was better…. Trent/ReAnimators
Good news, Chuck. One note though: Perhaps we could get the CO transcript posted a little faster? I still cannot find a posted transcript here for the last CO. Thanks! Trent/ReAnimators
Very nice to see the boss on the boards, Mr. Jenison! As a long time Toaster/LightWave user, I just wanted the chance to say a quick "thanks!" for all of your vision, hard work, and ultimate reshaping of the video industry as we now know it. LightWave has allowed me…

Glad to be of service, Mike! BTW, the DPS BBS is (416) 754-8368 Cheers! Trent/ReAnimators
If memory serves, the tape came separately, but before stand-alone. In any case, it wasn't much, except for the prop thing… Trent/ReAnimators
>>I don't think I've seen that demo tape.
>>Actually, I was going to play with the problem a little when I get a chance.
Thanks for the info, Wayne! As my original message stated, I'm looking to re-create the blur on the LW 3.5 demo tape. I'll give those settings a try. Trent/ReAnimators
Thanks Brad, I'll give it a try! Trent/ReAnimators
#PropBlur-LW
Message #48042
Folks: Does anyone out there have the correct motion blur and rotation settings for realistic aircraft prop motion in LightWave. Like the example shown in the short LightWave 3.5 demo tape. I can't seem to stumble on the right settings. Doh! Thanks, Trent/ReAnimators
>> Now if they are chargeing My card and not ready to ship, I will finaly be persuaded that something has seriously broken down at the NewTek management level.
>>The Amiga needs quality software, compatibility built in from the factory, low competitive pricing and ADVERTIZING!
A couple of other shots in the dark: Try leaving just the one 4MB simm in slot one. Try each of the four simms in this manner. Then, if you get one to work, add another. Try booting from a WB floppy, and see what happens, and if it boots,…
Thanks for sticking it out in the trenches for us Chuck! If I ever get to Topeka, there's a cool one on me! Trent/ReAnimators
I don't think the original boards had the setup feature. You could try hitting the key combination and see what happens, but if I think back to when I had my original board as well as the T4000, I seem to remember nothing happening… Trent/ReAnimators
Certainly different to what I was told… Trent/ReAnimators
>>To cut to the probable outcome, my apologies for any incorrect information I provided you in May, and if you missed any corrections to that which I posted subsequently.
>>Maybe if you keep the 'upgrade' unopened, you'll be able swap it for the platform of your choice in the next week or two? >>What're we gonna do? Buy other software?
Wayne, something just struck me while reading about the fouled-up Toaster. Have you tried going into the special setup menu? You have all the necessary gear (ext. bars and WF/VS). I should think you could clear up all the faults (except the CF adjust, of course)… Please excuse this if…
>>I already got my upgrade, but I'm behind you poor guys 100%!! Trent/ReAnimators

>>Personally I don't think even Apple will survive the Wintel stampede as a viable, large scale company. They too, in my opinion, are doomed to nichedom.

>> I've seen nothing of it in the news. Have you?
Jack: I haven't seen a PD horse object myself, but you can buy one from Viewpoint DataLabs. 1-800-DATASET. I believe the price is quite reasonable, if your'e dealing with a commercial project. Trent/ReAnimators
Oops! Sorry about that… Trent/ReAnimators
>>I'd use luminosity on the surface. forget trying to light it.
Chris: The problem is that the light in LightWave, and any other 3D program is "virtual light". Even if you point a spotlight directly at the camera, you cannot "see" this light. Anyway, Lens Flare should do the trick here. I'd use three point source lights, parented and positioned just…
FWIW, I religously use JPEG's to go to MAC, with about 95% quality. You just have to remember to use .jpg rather than .jpeg as an extension, or Photoshop goes "Huh?" Trent/ReAnimators

Wil: Here's the simplest way to get graphics to print: Load LightWave. From the images panel, load your framestore. Then, go the effects panel, and make the framestore the background image. Next, go to the camera menu. First, you want to change the resolution of your output image. Change it…
Amir: There's an old PD program called Bars 'n Tone which generates 1KHz tone (output to the Amiga RCA jacks) along with 8-bit bars. You can simply display the Toaster's color bars, then to Workbench and run Bars 'n Tone. Connect the Amiga audio out to your VTR, and you're…

Just some food for thought: In the April issue of Digital Video Magazine, there was an interview with Kai Krause (Kai's Power Tools). He's described as "Mr. Interface", and if you've seen any KPT stuff, his interface designs are unique, to say the least. The point of interest: DV: So…
