RHPADI Drivers Message #156705
Could you tell me where I can find RHPADI drivers? I'm looking for one for the Canon BJC-600 color inkjet. Is that something I must get from Canon? If so, what do I tell them exactly I am looking for? Thanks, Chris Truty
#Cycling IPAS Message #141190
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage December 11, 1994 2:49 PM
I am using the VAPOR and the FLAME routines to create some very nice burning animations. I am using the animations in an interactive environment, consequently they are cycling all the time. My question is this; is there a way in the settings for the AXP's that the last frame…

#Rendering times Message #137766
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Hware/OpSys/video November 23, 1994 10:26 PM
Does anybody know of any reports/charts on rendering speeds ranging from 50DX2 to P5-90/100 or 100DX4? (No disk-paging of course). I'm looking for how much faster, given the same image, the different machines are. Thanks, Chris
Offsite Rendering Message #136672
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio November 17, 1994 10:37 AM
I am interested in sending animations offsite to assist in rendering. 1) Is this within licensing requirements? Can I have offsite machines do command-line rendering? 2) Is there a file that command-line rendering updates to track rendering results (errors, completion times, etc) Thanks, Chris
VGA16 Message #135179
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Hware/OpSys/video November 11, 1994 11:12 AM
Jack, I just purchased 3DS4 and this may sound petty but what happened to the font VGA16 (the original IBM font)? Are only 14 pt fonts accessible? The IPAS still use those fonts… Thanks, Chris

You guys have come through before, let's hope so again. I asked this question several months ago with not much success. Is anyone familiar with either presentation software or a development kit that would allow for limited interaction and seamless transitioning between flc's? Is this something that I should really…
#100899 #Using 3DS for VR Message #100905
Does Autodesk have software that allows that type of control and interactivity?? If not, who does?? What you just suggested is what I want to do but I've had a difficult time finding "presentation" software or other software that provides seamless transfer between flics. How is the transfer between flics…
Using 3DS for VR Message #100857
I'm not sure this is the section, but I'm looking to do one of two things. Is there a way to use 3DS flics interactively. I'd like to create a series of short flics that are controlled interactively by the user–similar to AAWIN's script function but more user-oriented. Or is…
AAWin Settings Message #87696
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · General March 1, 1994 4:13 PM
I would like to use AAWin as an OLE from another software package. Does anyone know if there is a way to modify/save the original settings in AAWin and automatically begin playing the flic from a command line? Or is there another package that can accomplish these things??
Thanks, Martin. I'll keep on looking…. Chris
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · Autodesk Animator February 26, 1994 2:37 PM
I recently read an article that classified Animator Pro as Presentation Software. I've never really thought about it as such but I can't I say I've spent much time looking into it. I thought it just did 2D animation. My questions…with Animator Pro can you create buttons that allow you…
#83232 Hardware Problems Message #83361
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · OpSys/Networks February 12, 1994 2:51 PM

#New Video Card Message #83323

Well, I have finally had it with ATI. I would like to purchase a new video card now. Any suggestions?? What cards support both v2 and v3 3DS and have good reputations. I've had nothing but driver and hdwe probs with ATI's Ultra Pro. I've seen many comments on Diamond's…
#Hardware Problems Message #82769
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · OpSys/Networks February 10, 1994 6:13 AM
I've been trying to postpone upgrading to v3 until I've had to and maybe I have to now. Recently, I had a problem with my machine and had to replace the motherboard and the videocard. Ever since then, if I render with RCPADI, the machine reboots at various points of…

Jonas, I am still using r2. I don't have the programs that you suggested (not to mention that I have misplaced my installation manual). I am still doing it the "old-fashioned" way; changing the resolutions by erasing the 3dadi.cfg file and then restarting. Chris P.S. If this is something new…
#White Bar on Config Message #78613
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio January 24, 1994 10:36 AM
Jack, I have an Ultra Pro w/1MB of RAM. When I try to config RCPADI with 840x680x65,000 or 1024x768x65,000 and then test the video mode, I get a white bar which takes anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of the bottom portion of the screen. Rendering moves the top of the…

Debabelizer can also convert single-frame GIF's, TGA's to Quicktime bypassing the other Mac applications. I believe Quicktime is only 8-bit though so they'd have to by 'Macintized' anyway. Good Luck

Dennis, To borrow a line from Greg, IANAL either but in my experience I have found Chuck's recommendation on target. Anything that you do that could be construed as a representation of a product that you are familiar with (in a work relationship, maybe) could end up putting you in…

Why trying to load a couple of .fli's in the Video Post, I keep getting "Invalid Image" messages. Any ideas? They're just simple 15-frame flics that I'm trying to combine. I was attempting to load them through the queue entry. Thanks, Chris
#66557 Fire Message #66812

Ammanat, I've spent a great deal of time creating (trying) fire to no avail. With the help of a few good fli's in this Library (fire.zip and fire2.zip) I have created transparency maps of the fire. Putting both of those together in a material, I have literally been able to…

#Light Intensity Message #66317
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · General November 13, 1993 3:40 PM
On the v3 demo tape, there's a shot of the sun going behind a logo and across the screen and also of squad cars with flashing lights. Are those intensities then created that way?
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio November 8, 1993 9:02 PM
One other suggestion and I'm not sure this will work but think about it is rather than welding your vertices for the smooth joint, try assigning the faces on both objects to the same smoothing group. You can then do an Object/Attach and just correct the smoothing groups.

I'm having problems unzipping both FIRE2 and FIRE.ZIP. I'm getting a msg from pkunzip that says it does not know how to handle FIRE.FLI. Any ideas on whether or not it's the version of PKUNZIP (1.1) or is there a format specifier for FLI's?
#64621 Smart smoke? Message #64724

From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio November 1, 1993 2:35 PM
Thanks much James. That's a good idea that I will use. The IFL's have worked nicely although I still wonder why the individual GIF's could be found but the wildcarded group could not. According to the docs and a suggestion by Greg Pyros, it should it have worked but alas……

From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · Autodesk 3D Studio October 29, 1993 9:15 AM
I tried Greg's suggestion by renaming all the files so that the first 4 characters were alpha followed by numbers masked through 0000 to no avail. It was the same problem. It could find the individual files but not the asterisked group (FLAM*.GIF). I was able to make it work…

Gentlemen, A simple problem, I hope… In creating an animated texture map (r2), the renderer (MatEd/Editor/or Keyframer) can't find the sequentially numbered .gif files. It can find the individual files but not the group. What am I doing wrong? (The file selection in the MatEd reads flame*.gif) Thanks, Chris
From: CHRIS TRUTY Autodesk Software Forum · General September 30, 1993 11:35 AM
