WTB: SyQuest 88
Message #215104
Wanted To Buy….. Syquest 88 meg removable hard drive and/or cartriges. Please E-Mail any and all offers. Thanks, Jim
Michael. It may even be a good idea to move TBC's or other boards like Black Burst Generator that don't require anything other than power out of the Amiga TO a Spare PC chassis. If there's no need for the extra demand on the power supply and additional heat buildup…why…
Michael, Get an old MS-DOS xt or at or something cheap. 50.00 or so and put the TBC's in there. You just need to power them up. Jim
Try putting a light in FRONT of the traffic lens with glowing lens flare enabled. later, Jim
Thanks Gary, I'll give him a call. Later, Jim
#WTB: TBC IV !!!
Message #197783
Wanted… DPS TBC IV. Need to find a used one soon or I'll need to purchase a new one. If you've got one for sale…E-Mail me or Call me collect to arrange sale Jim Broek Providence Video 1518 N. Elm St. [AEscondido, CA 92026 (619) 738-9558
Fred, Are the color problems in the saved images only or in the Toaster Framestores in general? If your entire Toaster output has garbled color, you probably have something interfereing with the toaster through the parellel port. My Parnet cable will sometimes screw everything up. Later, Jim
Don't be Sorry for being had-nosed about the piracy issue. I agree 100% with you. The dealer who supplied a "copy" o3.5 should get smacked upside the head. While Toaster software is somewhat expensive, including the upgrade path. It is stillconsiderably less than other software on other platforms. Personally I…
Remember…Lightwave is already available, albeit on the Amiga platform. My opinion is that it IS better than 3DS and will continue to be in the future. To be fair, I have heard from some that there are strengths in certain areas of both programs. But actually, it's the Amiga Version…
Mark, Use the Modeler Macro "Text" or "Logotron", these will both save your Word object with individual surfaces for the face and sides. Later, Jim Providence Video Productions.
Lee, Remember to use Low Res and limited segments when testing surfaces. It saves a LOT of time when trying to tweak it to just the right look. Also, don't forget the huge impact LIGHTING has on your work. Color, intensity, angle, Key lights, fill lights, back lights…all will affect…
Lee, I think it's just you. Lightwauses a veritible plethora of variables to calculate surfaces. You're not the first person to become frustrated when the surfaces don't come out just right. What it takes is some major time toxperiment…changing just ONE variable at a time to see how it affects…
One more thought…you could lay the individual animations to tape in real time and Edit them together on TAPE. That will save you the problem of trying to manage 70 megs of animations all at once. Just take the tape to a local edit suite and patch it together…probably an…
Victor…Edward?: Unless your deck is single frame accurate it really doesn't matter what kind of "Control" you have. You want to start and stop specifically on the EXACT frame or you'll either overlap or have a blank jerk. Good luck finding a PAR. Later, Jim
Victor, You'll need to either…Single Frame the Animation or use a Personal Animation Recorder to play the animation in real-time to a VTR. I'd check around your local user's group or a local videoprofessional with Amiga Gear and rent the time on their system. BTW, what format do you have…
Kermit, Since the 1.5 Upgrade is no longer available…Is there an upgrade path to 2.0? Or do we have to re-invest in the new package? I'm not overly concerned with the display of the Framestore. As in using the Framebuffer of the Toaster. I just want to be able to…
Kermit, I'm a 1.0 or 1.1 or something Image F/X owner and want to upgrade mainly because I thought that newer versions can read Framestore files. Is this the case? I don't mind working on the files in HAM, but loading them up in TPaint and saving as 24Bit files…
Jeff, Thanks for the info! onthe Rendering Services. Big Help! later, Jim
#Raptor Services Wanted
Message #87759
Any Raptor Render Services for hire out here? I'm looking at doing a 10,000 frame series of animations. Approximately 15-20 minutes per frame on a 2000 '040 33mhz GVP Accell. I'd be appreciive of any leads on a Raptor for hire on this project. BTW, Single framing to BetaSP is…
Regarding the "No New Products Mode" Remember the jury is still out on the Amiga's fate. I think that the 3rd Party developers will pick up the pace either way. If Amiga Production\ is resumed..obviously. If the Amiga technology is siphoned off into a black hole…There will be some dropping…
Regarding STRATA: I've seen their advertisement in Digital Video Mag. It's the one with the chunky 2-D looking shark. If that was the BEST image they could come up with for their advertising, I'd say their product would definately be questionable and NOT even mentionable in the same breath as…
Jerry, I don't see how being an independent video producer (like myself), or working for a large corporation makes any difference. The bottom line remains. What is the quality of the work? What is the cost to achieve that quality? The profit motivation doesn't go away just because you're working…
Fred, I have crammed 3.1 on an 84 Meg (formatted) Syquest cart, by deleting some fonts, Images, non .FP versions etc… It can be done. Later, Jim
Jerry, I see your rationale in hesitating to purchase an Amiga in these uncertain days of it's existence. But I disagree with you that in that in some cases, the Amiga is the only way to go, even with it's problems. From a business perspective, Computers lose their initial value…
Derek, You know…I put a listing in the Classified section about a month ago and recieved ZERO response. I don't think I was asking too much… between 5 and 15 dollars. So I guess the market was dried up. I figure, that selling used games for 25 to 50% of…
In the past few years I have had great succes with The Grapevine. HOWEVER, in the past few months (presumably in the quake of C= 's demise) they have litterally fallen apart. They've stopped advertising. Disconnected their toll-free number. The one line they do have is understaffed (always busy). I…
Arnie, Many thanks for the suggestion. Once again, that knowledge was on the "Available" list, but ignored by my feeble mind. The crazy thing was that in the past I HAD gotten the RGB2FS.rexx command to work. Maybe that was with the 3.0 software and now doesn't work with the…
Arnie, I'm having some problems with the RGB2FREXX macro. I'm trying to convert Morph+ images to framestores but can't get it to work. I've opened up a she, entered ToasterPaint, Cnt N to get back to the shell, RX RGB2FS.REXX DH0:RGBIMAGES\filename 1 90. This gets me a brief disk access…
Mario, As a 3rd generation decendent of Dutch immigrants…I'd like to encourage you to hold your head high. As my Beppa used to tell me…If you ain't Dutch…You ain't Much. Later, Jim Broek
Lance, Try using the TEXT.LWM macro to do the extruding for you. Just go into Modeler…hit 'Left Amiga key N' and run the arexx macro in the arexx_examples\lwm directory. 'rx text.lwm' Very useful for manipulating text into 3-D. On your wave object. I wouldn't try to model all the complex…
Thomas, The 1960's will NOT single frame animations. Though they are actually quite good in editing. Even without the modifications needed to use Time Code, some companies such as T.A.O. have managed to use sophisticated algorithms to get +-2 frame accuracy with the control track. My 1970's are extremely accurate…
IF NOTHING happens, it might be your power supply. Does the computer even attempt to boot? Disk Access? The screen stays black? If it scrambles lines in the black, I'd say your Agnus. If possible you may want to try borrowing a power supply to see. Later, Jim
Mark, What happens on your screen, does it turn white (light grey) or stay black? Or some other color perhaps. I had a similar problem on my 2000 and fixed it by replacing the Agnus. Later, Jim
The World
Message #81290
There is a terrific world object bundled with WAVEMAKER by Axiom. Great product by the way. Later, Jim
Zeddock, I believe that you'll experience slowwwwwwneessss with any editing deck which utilized LTC. If it's real performance you're after the key is to edit with VITC. With LTC, you'll ALWAYS need to pre-roll to get the Time code. Later, Jim
Jerry, As usual, you've assessed the situation here quite sensibly. Yes, conclusions that _I'VE_ drawn are based on rumors. I didn't intend to present anything as factual. I simply attempted to refine the general direction of the rumor mill. If my conclusions sound overly hopeful, then so be it. What…
Brent, You're in a bit of a dilema. If I were in your shoes, I think I'd wait a couple more weeks to find out who the new players are. I have waded through the tons of messages in the AmigaUser forum and there does seem to be a bit…
I would stick with the Black when striping Time Code. The color bars are (I'm obviously not a technition) somehow wider and may not be full recorded over when rendering to tape. Make sure you dispense of the color bars in both framebuffers when you render to tape as these…
So…the Frame is recorded in the right spot but the frame is lower? Yikes… haven't ever experienced anything like that. Did you change your scene file to make the new frame different somehow? How about the camera? is the Field rendering the same as the original? If the frame is…
Zeddock, Yep, I use a Sanyo as my main Record VTR with 2 1970's as A/B Sources. They are all controlled by a TAO Editizer which coordinates them and the Toaster quite nicely. Later, Jim
Wesly, When you go back to re-record the frame…what happens? Does it record in the wrong spot or nothing at all? Make sure that on your Sanyo you are insert editing VIDEO only. if you are insert editing with Audio 2 specifically, you'll be messing up your time code. Later,…
Stephen, I've A Kitchen Sync for sale WITH S-Video Daughterboard that I'm selling for 850 + shipping. Let me know if interested. Later, Jim Broek Providence Video Productions 1518 N. Elm St. Escondido, CA 92026 (619) 738-9558
You can do 3.1 with your 1 meg Agnus, but you'll be limited. Upgrade to the Megachip as soon as you can afford to. With 1 Meg chip ram you'll have problems running a full complement of DVE's and even then, some of the more complex ones like the spinning…
What other portion of CBM is there? The C-64,128 is a dead horse that's been pulling the cart for way too long. Their MS-DOS colt's can't be much of a money maker. Then you run into the problem of separating the Amiga Computer chips, which NewTek would want with the…
Do you stripe with ColorBars? I stripe Black with Timecode. Isn't there a possibility of residual colorbar stuff remainging on the tape if you firsrt record IT before single framing? Or it probably doesn't matter. Later, jim
Wes, If you issue the TALK2 command, your Sanyo won't reply ANYTHING! which is exactly what the Toaster wants since it is incapable of interacting anyway. Kind of a Pain, methinks. On Dropouts, Get the Best Tape available and cross your fingers. Again, unless your rending times are REAL short,…
Kent, No Problemo…I kind of stumbled on that one in the manual. And started turning the "Talk" off, just in case it 'might' cause problems. So I've had it included in my Sanyo startup script since day one. I guess the BCD manual doesn't do as good a job at…
The CIA (there are two of them) are chips which control several functions on the Amiga. On the 2000 you need to take out the power supply and disk drive frame to get at them. I'd reccomend getting the Amiga Emergency Startup Kit from Grapevine, which has a bunch of…
Wesley, More memory is probably not the solution. One possible problem MIGHT be mixed 32 & 16 bit memory?? More likely, you've got a CIA out of whack, (8520a) the odd one. Also you can try re-installing your Software, and if you've got either Quarterback Tools or Ami-Back Tools (Must…
