I've got an AmiNet CD, I'll have a look on that. Thanks for the info on SCRAMMER.
3.6V 60 maH Alkaline I think. It's on the battery itself. It is soldered onto the MB so you'll have to disassemble the entire computer, remove the MB from the case and then desolder the battery from the board. Be real careful when you desolder the battery! Use all the…
#A3000 HD Boot Delay?
Message #180612
I have an A3000 & WB 2.1. I have an old Quantum 105S SCSI drive that does not work at boot time. If I leave the machine on until the drive warms up it works fine. Is there anyway to increase the power-up boot delay so that the 105s has…
#New A3000 Battery
Message #180611
I am repairing a friend's A-3000, its battery leaked all over the circuit board and needs to be replaced. How does one go about recreating whatever information was saved by the battery?
Sounds neat. Our stuff is real-time multiple processor stuff so we have to debug in real time using the real hardware. We've got a few Applied Microsystems 6809 emulators around and we manage to keep them running without any help from Applied Microsystems who dropped support for them long ago.…
Are you aware that the Hitachi 6309 (CMOS 3 Mhz 6809) has a bunch of un-documented new and nifty features? Things like trapping illegal opcodes, more 16-bit registers, and a few more cool things that I can't remember at the moment. We tried them and they seem to work. The…
The company I work for still makes and ships embedded products with 6809's (the Hitachi 3 Mhz CMOS version) in them. Source is several hundred pages of assembler code… Fun stuff.
> Once requests for a particular format reach critical mass, we do > it (if it's not commercially restricted, as is PhotoCD) > Part one sounds reasonable. How is PhotoCD restricted? -J
Well actually I am trying to access a PhotoCD image on a CDROM drive hooked to the Amiga. I copied the image (.pcd) file to the Amiga hard drive. Then I used a program that I downloaded here on CIS (Photocd.lha, extracts the UNIX oriented program hpcdtoppm) program to extract…
.ppm Support?
Message #91965
I just discovered yet another file format. It's called ".pp," which I think stands for "Portable Pixmap Format." Has support for this been added to Imagemaster yet? Thanks! -J

#Strange A3000 Disk Probs
Message #157907
I am having a very strange problem with my A3000 (WB 2.1, 12 MB fast, 2 MB chip). The second hard disk is a Quantum 105S partitioned into two drives, WORK2: and WORK3:. On a cold boot, the system reports that it "can't access drive WORK2:, Retry or Cancel." If…
I haven't gotten around to hooking the CD-ROM drive up to the Amiga yet. One of these days… For now I just use sneakernet. -J
I'd like to see a CDROM version of VistaPro. I already have the PC version and it is pretty neat. -J
Possible JPEG Loadr Prob
Message #82629
Sounds to me like someone who knows JPG should send Tom Potocki a message and say "HEY!" stick with the standard! -J
OK, I guess I'll try and get in touch with tech support some time when I get home in time. -J
#Possible JPEG Loadr Prob
Message #81977
Ben: I have an update to the weird problems that I've been having (locked buffers, etc.). It seems that the problems started when I loaded a specific image. When I attempt to load the image (a .jpg file) I never get the bar graph that usually appears when I load…
#Help Doesn't
Message #81976
Ben: Did you ever duplicate and solve the error involving the help feature of IM? The error message was: Can't open file imh_toc Which I received when trying to do a "find." This is VERY annoying when one is trying to get information on an aspect of IMRT! Right now…
Thanks for the info on the 270 MB drives. I believe that I read somewhere that SyQuest has announced a ~200 MB 5.25 unit that will read and write the old 5.2." 44 and 88 MB carts. -J

#SyQuest 270
Message #143771
Is the Syquest 270 a 3.5" or a 5" drive? -J
I don't believe that the FC24 has a genlock. -J
Vista Pro will also render directly to the FC24 which is kinda neat. -J
Thanks for the information on Pro Draw. -J
Best way 2 print maps?
Message #136874
I want to digitize a street map and then be able to shrink or enlarge it as needed. Problem is I'll have the "jaggies" because it will be just a bit map. Is there any software that could convert the digitized image into something that could be process by a…
Thanks for the note. I looked around at the prices of current video boards, with the base Opalvision at $375.00 I couldn't justify spending more than $200.00 for a used FC24. I got a good deal on one and should have it next weekend. I'm looking forward to using it…
Well, I'm buying and I was going to offer less than that, so it sounds like I'm in the right ball park. Did the FC24 come with less than 2 meg? I am going to try and dig up a review of the board in one of my back issues.…
OK, how about buying? -J

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out ASAP next week. -J
#Bernoulli Box w/Amiga?
Message #135120
Has anyone used a Bernoulli Box with their Amiga? I hooked one up to my A3000 and HDToolBox can find the drive but does not recognize LUN 1 of SCSI address 0. Any way to do this? I can low level format the drive and save the changes to the…
What parity setting on the drive do you have (Enabled or disabled)? I seem to remember that the Amiga wants SCSI parity disabled and that is not the default for drives I've seen. Hope this helps. -J
#Contents of Pro Pack?
Message #73803
What formats are in the Professional Conversion Pack? I looked in your lib here but could find no information. Thanks, -J -J
No, you don't have to power down to change modes. When running under OS/2 I switch modes all the time, no problems. I use an A/B switch to go between the Amiga and the PC, the switch is a "break before make" type and therefore is not a problem. -J
Well, thanks for the guestimate on the manual. -J
How much later will we get the manual? Since I skipped from Imagine 1.x to 3.0 I think I'll NEED a manual…

FC3 Suggestions
Message #62602
Is anyone still here from Softwood? I have a few suggestions for the next version of Final Copy. I've been using the new Wordperfect V5.2 for OS/2 at work and it has a couple of features I'd like to see in FC3. 1) The program remembers the last four files…
Given the attitude of the person I talked to on the telephone (which really left me with a bad feeling) and your experience makes me think that I'll give one of the other programs a try first. I hope they resolve your situation soon. If they don't, then send them…
#A3000 Diagnostic Pgms?
Message #110984
I am having some problems with my A3000, it crashes and the crashes are becoming more frequent and more annoying. I can't find any sort of pattern to the crashes but I am still trying to do so. The machine passes every memory test that I have run. I borrowed…
I, for one, am content to wait until Impulse is ready to ship V3.0. I do NOT want to be a beta tester! 🙂
I have a DeskJet 500 that I use with Final Copy 2. I am VERY happy with the output quality. I can't answer any of your other questions, however. -J
#DirectoryOpus Suggestion
Message #61444
I have a suggestion for the next revision of Directory Opus. PLEASE give us the option to have numbers displayed with COMMAS in them every three digits! This makes it MUCH easier to tell at a glance the magnitude of a number with out having to study it. Thanks, -J
Suggestions For FC3
Message #60907
How are things going at Softwood? Haven't heard much here lately! Any clues as to what you're up to? I have a few suggestions for the next release of Final Copy: 1) Allow re-mapping of the keyboard functions. I.E. the "cursor to end of line" function is now a three…
I guess I'll try turning off burst for both instructions and data as I can't see how the distinction would matter, RAM access is RAM access. -J
Oh, I didn't understand what you meant! I'll experement with that and see what happens. It may be hard to do because I can't seem to find any pattern that leads to a crash other that they seen to happen at the most annoying times possible. -J
I have a 3000. All of the RAM is identical. I was not aware of the CPU command, I turned off all burst and cache modes and there were still no memory errors found. I may have to get a commercial program to do further diagnostics. -J
Thanks for the information, I never bothered to look in the Vendor's database! I got the program and it seems like a pretty nice program. It didn't find any memory errors though so it looks like I might have other problems. (Sigh) Thanks again, -J
Amiga Diagnostic Pgms?
Message #106216
My Amiga 3000 is giving me problems. Sometimes it just freezes up. Other times I get a nice orange box on a black screen with the message error 8000 0004, task 0748 2f40. Of course, this message is nowhere to be found in any of my AmigaDOS manuals. Does anyone…
