From: Don Sakers Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware December 8, 1993 10:27 AM
Thanks a lot, guys. I will try a new 8520 and report back. (Pesky things, ain't they? I had to replace one last year when the parallel port started going wonky. I guess it's a good idea to lay in a supply of them, eh? -Don

#Help – keyboard Message #124196
From: Don Sakers Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware December 7, 1993 6:21 PM
Help! My Amiga 2000 is having keyboard problems. Symptoms: The keyboard doesn't seem to be communicating well with the machine. The CAPS LOCK light keeps flickering. When I press keys, I get erratic results — often nothing at all, sometimes doubled letters, or flashes, or backspacing, or the whole thing…

#16- bit RAM & A2630 Message #36260
From: Don Sakers Amiga Tech Forum · Forum Business/Help August 7, 1993 3:11 PM
I'm going to be adding a Commodore A-2630 accelerator to my Amiga 2000. Currently the machine has a Supra RAM board with 6MB of 16-bit RAM. The A-2630 has 4MB of 32-bit RAM. I have been told that there may be trouble getting the A-2630 to recognize the 16-bit RAM…i.e.…

Maxtor specs? Message #30078
From: Don Sakers Amiga Tech Forum · Forum Business/Help November 14, 1992 5:53 PM
Just purchased a new Maxtor harddrive for my Amiga 2000 (1.2 dos, IVS Trumpcard SCSI interface). The harddrive came without any documents, and I am stuck on the values for my mountlist entry. Does anyone have the relevant values (cylinders, heads, blocks-per- track, etc) for a Maxtor model 7123SR? Thanks.
Maxtor harddrive Message #77597
From: Don Sakers Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware November 14, 1992 8:44 AM
I just got a new hard drive that I'm trying to mount on my Amiga 2000, 1.2 dos, IVS Trumpcard. The physical installation has gone fine, but I think I have wrong values in my mountlist because I'm getting weird results. Does anyone know the cylinders, heads, tracks and all…

From: Don Sakers Amiga Tech Forum · System Software October 28, 1992 11:17 AM

From: Don Sakers Amiga Arts Forum · Videophile October 1, 1992 10:57 PM
Randy, thank you, the BCD-5000 and SONY SLO-383 sounds like just the sort of thing we are looking for…by selling everything we own and throwing in my nephew, we can probably gather together about $2000. You say "Look around, 383's are still out there!" How about a hint or two…
KitchenSYNC sunk Message #19584
From: Don Sakers Amiga Arts Forum · Videophile May 27, 1992 7:10 PM
Whine! We just got a new Kitchen SYNC. And Channel A works great, wonderful, couldn't be better. Channel B, on the other hand, gives us a picture that looks like overexposed film. Everything is too bright, blurry, there is substantial alteration of colors. Adjusting the settings on the Kitchen SYNC…
#Toaster –> DCTV Message #19330
From: Don Sakers Amiga Arts Forum · Videophile May 16, 1992 8:15 PM
I have read that DCTV can be an alternative to a single-frame VCR for producing Video Toaster (Lightwave 3D) animations. From what I understand, it is possible to convert Toaster images to DCTV format, then string the DCTV-format images together with animation software and play the resulting ANIM out through…

#38534 Camcorder > Toaster Message #38551
From: Don Sakers Amiga Vendor Forum · NewTek April 26, 1992 6:24 PM
We've tried starting up the Toaster with the camcorder on and outputting a video signal…we get the message VIDEO TOASTER NOT RESPONDING. We also tried inputting different cable TV channels directly from a VCR; that also gave us the two horizontal lines, distorted color, and message VIDEO TOASTER NOT RESPONDING.…

Don Curtis, you are a life-saver!! Your clear, precise directions on installing Fatter Agnus in an Amiga 2000 were right on the mark; she's in and she's working perfectly. You can't imagine how much help you are. Thank you, a thousand times thank you. Simper, simper. Kiss your feet. All…

Please excuse us two novice vidoe mavens who don't even know the correct terminology to ASK this question, but…. We're trying to use a cable TV signal as a video source for the Toaster. BNC cables and connectors are a complete mystery to us. Starting from the coaxial cable coming…
#Camcorder > Toaster Message #38515
From: Don Sakers Amiga Vendor Forum · NewTek April 25, 1992 5:08 PM
We're having a problem when connecting our camcorder to INPUT 1 of our Video Toaster. The live-video input causes two horizontal lines across the picture, and distorts colors above & below those lines. When we turn off the camcorder, the effect vanishes. These two horizontal lines are also visible on…

Have just finished physically installing a 1 meg Fatter Agnus chip in my A2000 (WB 1.2 in ROM, 6 MB expansion RAM). But the computer doesn't seem to realize that it now has 1 meg chip RAM. AVAIL still tells me I have half a meg of chip RAM. I'm…
Stopped A2000 Clock Message #15887
From: Don Sakers Amiga Tech Forum · System Software October 30, 1991 10:20 AM
Help! My Amiga 2000 has lost the ability to tell time. The hardware clock is working perfectly, but when I put a clock up on the screen, the second hand remains motionless. For my machine, time is not passing at all. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. -Don (from the…
Stopped System Clock Message #38689
From: Don Sakers Amiga User Forum · Forum Business/Help October 29, 1991 10:04 PM
The clock on my Amiga 2000 has stopped. The "hardware" clock seems to be okay — that is, I can do a SETCLOCK OPT LOAD, then follow it with another a few seconds later, and the time changes. It's the system clock that won't budge…i.e. if I display a clock…
#77731 MicroSystem BBS Message #77933
From: Don Sakers AmigaTech Forum · Talk to the Trade December 9, 1989 12:18 PM
I had the new number a few months ago…but don't bother. As I remember, one must file an application and join the board before one can do anything at all — even leaving a message for the sysop. And the application procedure takes days or weeks. The system let me…

I think I came in late for the Bridgeboard/Floppy Disk Controller discussion. I have a 2088 Bridgeboard and a FlyByNight Products multipurpose PC board…clock/calendar, parallel port, serial port, and floppy disk controller. Only trouble is, when the new board is installed, the Bridgeboard gets very confused about the floppy disk…
Janus 2.0 Message #77674

Don: RE: Bridgeboard having problems with its disk drive/ I checked the FDC chip, and it is warm to the touch (even though all the other chips aren't.) I think this may be the problem, then, and I will hie myself to my dealer on Monday. Meanwhile, however, I have…
A2088 drive problem Message #69539
From: Don Sakers AmigaTech Forum · Expansion Hardware October 13, 1989 6:06 PM
About this BridgeBoard problem… I have an A2088 Bridgeboard in an Amiga 2000. The PC display keeps giving the following error message: "Boot disk failure. Type key to retry." What I've done: 1. Verified that BridgeBoard is properly seated. 2. Verified that heads on 5.25" drive are moving. 3. Tried…

A2088 Problem Message #69409

Another Bridgeboard problem. I have an A2088 bridgeboard and an Amiga 2000. The bridgeboard is suddenly giving the following error on startup: "Boot disk failure. Type key to restart." I've tried it with several different disks — including the MS-DOS disk that came with the Bridgeboard. No luck. It just…
#3337 Copyright Message #3356
From: Don Sakers AmigaArts Forum · Ramblings September 9, 1988 2:05 PM
Betty, you're absolutely right. In copyright terms, this would be the same sort of situation as "death of the copyright holder" — i.e. the companies, machines, publishers are all "dead." As things move so much more quickly in electronic space, the present copyright rule of "death+50 years" seems onerous. What…

#250- #Pournelle Mindblower Message #507
From: Don Sakers Amiga Vendor · Forum Business August 2, 1988 8:21 PM
Don't take Pournelle too seriously. This is the man who predicted that the S-100 bus was the wave of the future (the IBM-PC was too clumsy and slow, you see). And he criticizes the A2000 with bridgeboard because it "runs programs only as fast as a plain-vanilla IBM PC" and…

From: Don Sakers The Amiga Forum · Hot News & Rumors July 12, 1988 5:15 PM
Mark: INFO Magazine #20 (May/June 1988) carried this story (p. 100): PORTABLE AMIGA! We've just found out that a portable Amiga *is* under development, but it *won't* come from Commodore. Dynamac, a third-party company that builds Macintosh portables, has begun R&D on a portable Amiga based on the A500. Our…

#A2088 questions Message #132728
