#WI arrived
Message #4342
WI finally arrived. Looks very promising. Also looks kind of shaky. Here's some random notes from a few hours of poking at it. Some Help buttons in dialogues give me Invalid Keyword errors from help. A few I found just offhand are Area|Transparency Controls|Help (I dislike dialogues with no Cancel,…
Your flc is perfect. I'm psyched. Thanks a lot. How long did you spend on that, start of modeling to completed flc? Also, you mention the revision you're working with. Can 2.0 do that, 3.0, or would I need the continuous upgrade version? I'd probably get it anyway…

#Imagine's IK
Message #3967
Hey GreG. We've missed you over in Graphdev. What can you tell me about Imagine's IK? Can I use it to build a working machine linkage? I have a project in mind, with a fairly nasty combination of levers and pivots, some fixed to a base, some floating attached to…
>>a FLC saver (that's a newer format, right?).
Reasonable answers all around. Thanks. I'll hit your order line tomorrow. >>You can't, at present, batch load them so they're a bunch of concurrently available image windows for individual editing as you would load an image in Photoshop… you would have to load individual frames, one at a time, for…

Dr. Bruce! Howdy. You sysoping here? Make sure Ben and Chris play nice, OK?
>>So to answer the question, your $50 can go either place.
I see where MicroWarehouse is advertising a $50 competitive upgrade to WinImages 2 from just about anything, including Picture Publisher. Should I do that and then upgrade to 3 next week, or wait? What's the status of someone who buys 2 right now? And the big question, can you describe…

>>peolpe say "3DS can do that" but forget to mention that it's an external modul. People get the impression 3DS can do all these things.

I'd heard about it not working on PAS, but you're the first I've heard say it wouldn't do SB. I'll have to try on my kid's machine. I really like FT2 so far.

>>weird that Microsoft would include OpenGL and then not give you a way to use it. It's not like Microsoft to leave a potential market untapped
Sounds like you've got a more direct route into ST3 than I do. I've had no luck going straight in. I'm on a GUS, and the order of loading samples in ST3 seems to be really critical, later samples sometimes corrupt older ones. Sometimes not. Really screwy. So I load…

So, how long have you been living in Redmond, anyway?
>>Faro tells me their device was developed for microsurgery and is very light and smooth. Immersion's looks cheap/plastic and small in modeling volume.
>>What do you people have against .FL? and bitmaps?>How about the Gates warp in EMF's demo? Bitmaps!
Simple RAW triangles are a common exchange format here, due to their portability and Steve Anger's RAW2POV convertor. It's just a list of vertices, 9 on a line, separated by spaces. A word on a line by itself is a group separator, used to divide subobjects and parts. There's a…

450 megs, and yes, TGAMIX worked great. The guy brought his Dell here, and we parallel port laplinked two images across, maybe a month ago. Haven't heard if he was able to print them.
The time's bound to come when video systems will be fast enough to play back 32 bit animations over other animations or stills, with appropriate transparency. Look to the future.
