From: John M. Vreeland Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors October 2, 1994 10:21 PM
The losing candidate plans a party, too. In this case, though, I won't mind as long as SOMEBODY wins! I don't know what anybody would do with a truckload of CD-32's, though. They'd be awfully hard to sell without a rock-bottom price and a couple of CD's to go with…
#163297 #D.Pleasance Baffler Message #163302
From: John M. Vreeland Amiga User Forum · Hot News and Rumors September 10, 1994 7:46 AM
I'm with you, Jim. 8 bit sound stinks. I'd like to do something more than run sequencers with my Amiga. Perhaps if pleasance is truly guided by the market (and if, and if…) we might see something like a DSP. That sounds like a much more reasonable project than RISCing…
Dan, I never would have called Ali, even as a journalistic duty. I keep thinking that if I had wanted his opinion I would have tried to read his entrails. Just a thought (revisited). -John M. Vreeland in Virginia
Dale, They could send you one if they REALLY wanted to. It's just that you're a guaranteed sale either way, so why bother? -John M. Vreeland in Virginia jmvree@infi.net

Steve, I was in the UK the week CBM's arteries clogged up for the last time and I took advantage of some of their local mags. One article (I forget which of the several titles it came from) gave the impression of a coordinated and guardedly optimistic UK staff struggling…

Hans, It definitely sounds like a vertical deflection problem. I can't get more specific than that. It would take some signal tracing to find the bad component. -John M. Vreeland in Virginia
From: John M. Vreeland Amiga User Forum · Amiga Hardware July 6, 1994 3:19 PM
Richard, I called CBM years ago when mine went and they acted like it couldn't happen. "Your battery failed? No way!" I opened up the shield and there it was, soldered in place, a fat dead cylindrical bug. I found a replacement that matched it volt for volt and soldered…

I followed the same route you did for DOS 2.1, except that I had 2.0 installed. I have several megs of RAM but only one of chip RAM, and in any event I don't think memory is your problem as the loader probably just makes maximum use of what you…

Is that the same Alexander Haig whom my father voted for in the Repub. primary a half-dozen years ago? (He also said that he voted for Gus Hall, by-the-by, so go figure.) It must charitably consider it to be a further demonstration of directors failing to represent the interests of…

However, as you know, disassembly is legal for fair-use purposes (in the USA), something that was not recognized at the time of your project. Software secrets, then, are not as safe as they were, and software companies may be more likely to comply with a reasonable request. Maybe. -Vree in…
