Robert, I doubt you will be able to use 3DS r4 slave machines with 3DS r5 – We encountered a nightmare rendering a 7000 frame job when our lead animator decided to upgrade to r4 from r3 during the middle of this job. It turned out that r4 did some…
Zac, New drivers are available from the Number Nine download area. Thanks Matt
"Visitor", Feel like I'm writing to a martian, Who are you? To the video adapter question, our company custom builds systems for the CAD / Animation market and have used ATI, Diamond, Matrox and #9 adapters. Currenty, we have moved to the EXCLUSIVE use of the #9 Imagine128 series of…
Claus, The PVR is shipping in limited quanities at this time. PCI based with Fast SCSI 2 interface. We just finished building one machine and Murph' (James Murphy & Associates 414-435-7345) installed the PVR and software. Give him a call he's a dealer for the Matrox too. Good Luck, Matt
Bob, Well, can't win em' all… Just let me know if you need any help setting up your farm. One thing, make sure you have a nice BIG fileserver to handle your network overhead… Matt
Robert, I would really like to have a shot at selling your company (130) P100 systems. We specialize in high-end custom systems. Matt Armstrong TRG / DFW Multimedia
Don, Right on! We have had up to a 30 P100 64MB Farm at one time and the project was a nightmare! From the time limit imposed to networking considerations and even tougher – figuring out the network rendering bug between R3 and R4 machines. And, then the laying to…
Zac, You really ought to try the #9 Imagine128. The drivers work great under NT workstation and the card comes in 4MB and 8MB versions. The 4MB does 65K at 1600×1280 100Mhz and the 8MB does 16.8M at 100Mhz. We (and our customers) have been very happy with the performance…
Read this thread a little late – we have been using the WFW networking with NT fileservers with no problem… Could you fill me in… Matt
Scott, Sorry for taking so long to get back to the forum. Just e-mail your specs and I'll take it from there. We have a lot of experience building high performance systems specifically for the animation industry. We try to maximize your "Bang for the Buck" and put the money…
Nice try, but we custom build systems for animators that "blow away the competition". EDO memory is a nice buzz word but there are better places to spend your money when designing a system. Send me your specs via email – if you want a quote on some REAL horsepower!…
Jason, Did you say cheap… We carry the Matrox Marvel II PCI SVGA out capability… Matt Armstrong TRG Systems/AM Labs
Tolek, We have the intel P75/90/100 without CPU $345.00 Matt Armstrong TRG Systems / AM Labs
Laurie, Under NT server network with a RAS connection you can network render remotely.. Big problem though – the resulting frames have to be stored on a common drive, file transfer time will kill you. However, using RAS will let you monitor the rendering job without any problems. Matt Armstrong

Hi Mike, Thanks for the inquiry – I hope we can be of service. Matt Armstrong
Go Broncos… I used to play football in the early 80's at Central State not the UCO you now refer to. BTW we do offer rendering service.. Our company can place up to 100 pentium class machines with up to 128MB of RAM on any one rendering job. If you…
Rick, Give Chris Norman a call at AM Labs 214-960-6862. He's really good and might be able to help you out. Matt
Don, We were one of installations having the random field ordering problem. We think that submitting our jobs from R4 to R3 slaves along with not having the network clock synched caused the problem. Everything is fine now with those two items fixed… Good luck. Matt / AM Labs
Arrgh, Strike two. I hope we get a chance to work together – How about some rendering action??? Matt
Colin, Give Danny a call (214) 960-6862 DC Systems. He's a programmer analyst with a sister company of ours. He hangs out on internet but I don't remember his ID. Matt / AM Labs
Murph' In the mail with additional goodies…. Matt
Robert, Internally we are planning for a 4th Q 95' release of 3DSTUDIO NT. I have nothing on paper from Autodesk or anyone else to count on. All I'm going on is my evaluation of the market and what will have to happen for Autodesk to keep its share of…
Martin, Sure you don't want to contract some of it out. We have great people and massive amounts of hardware…. quotes are free… Matt Armstrong / AM Labs
Andrew, Thanks for the inquiry – we are about to go into production on a black box (rack mountable or stand alone) that contains multiple (4 to 8) pentium boards networked (ultra high speed) under windows with massive amounts of RAM, autoswitching, power managed, etc. Basically, all the nice things…
Ok, no problem. If we can ever help just call (214) 960-7915. We are the manufacturer of the 'Render Jungle' multiple P90 rendering slave machine. We can bring on line almost any number of these machines if you get in a crunch and need additional horsepower. Also, we have in-house…
Sanford, Your right – P90's all the way!!! January release will be with P90's. Guess what – we have DEC Alpha's on the board! 275MHz – roughly equal to thoroughput of 8 P90's – We're getting ready for NT 3DS. What type of network do you have?? I ask because…
Rich, We provide contract animation, offsite rendering, and design and build custom hardware designed for INTENSIVE graphics applications. Look for our 'Render Jungle' to debut in January. Our best description would be "If its impossible – we want the job!" Our motto around here is "Animation – On time -…
Stephen, Try the Diamond StealthPro64 PCI with 4MB – we can get it to you for about $440. I'm trying out a Number Nine GXE64 PCI this week – I'll try and post the results. Matt / AM Labs
Ok, Paul, I look forward to this project – We would like a shot at one of your "downtown" lots. Plently of room to go vertical. I think that we can help with the rendering and creation of the master tape too. Matt / AM Labs
Andrew, Sure you don't want to contract a job? Matt / AM Labs
Sanford, Arrgh! I don't have time for this BUT I can't pass it up!!! We'll contribute a neat little robot and corporate headquarters to fit a TEXAS size lot!!! Also, anybody think about how much horsepower is going to be needed to render a monumental fly thru??? With a little…

Richard, Congratulations from Texas! Give me a call if we can be of service.. Matt Armstrong / AM Labs
ARA, After you shell out the money for Director or Adobe Premier or whatever, you'll have to shell out some more bucks for a CD-R and Record software not to mention some more harddrive space to preview from. We are headed in this direction but haven't bought yet. Please stay…
Good call – make sure that the power management option in the BIOS is disabled too…
From their organization I can see why it walked off… The booth was wide open.
I agree – we got confirmation 3 months ago.
Thanks, You'll get the first one – if you're brave enough! Not to scare you off, we do have the P60/64MB prototype up and running. R4 gave us some headache's but things are running smooth. We are waiting for the custom case and a few other odds and ends.

Real Question – Where is my 3D NT! As a shop which specializes in horsepower via hardware and software – COMDEX was interesting with Lightwave and Hash/Playmation already in BETA on NT. Are Yost and Autodesk splitting the coding effort??? We have offered our services to help with NT version…
I give up!! – when we go into production you get #1 !*@*? Have a good turkey day – matt
Alec, If you are cutting it close maybe we can help. We have the ability to bring on-line about 20 P60/66/90's with >10GB storage and 64MB / machine. Also, we are an OEM for Matrox Max which we use to lay broadcast qualitity, BetacamSP / SVHS. Matt Armstrong / AM…
