I think you create a message with the words subscribe 3dstudio and you just send it to majordomo@autodesk.com It might require you to add your name at the end. It'll either kick back a message telling you you're subscribed, or it'll kick back a message telling you how messed up…
#HELP w/unsubscribe! Message #192385

I'm going nuts here! I've tried every conceivable way to unsubscribe to the 3D Studio internet mailing list. Yes I have the help file. It always returns mail that says that I'm not a member of the list. I've used my full name, my logon name, and my email address.…
I wish! I'm going to be in CD-I hell this week! Have a good conference. Maybe you could send me videotapes?!? Brent Bonet – POP! Multimedia Atlanta
I hope the seminar is fun for you Michele. I was able to attend last year when Steven was the instructor. It can be a bit expensive since I'm not local. Of course if the late money that I received last Friday had arrived a month ago when it was…
Thanks alot Steven! I do have the book and I'll check it out. I see that Murph is having Michelle Bousquette next week. I wanted to attend, but money is tight and since I'm not a local the hotel/car doubles my expense. I'd love to go though. Cheers! Brent
Yes, but how would you handle creating the transparency level of the alpha channel? Brent

I have an interesting project. We have a photograph of a room full of furniture. I need to be able to swap out the carpet in the room with various carpet samples. This shouldn't be that difficult. Just use Photoshop or whatever and cut out the carpet. Create a floor…

Steve, I'm running into big probs with the quaternion stuff. The suggestions I've received haven't quite applied. Any hint on dealing with that? Brent
#spin independently? Message #167150
I've created an animation of a camera flying around a globe. To avoid the camera flipping caused by quaternion(sp?) math in 3DS, I've linked the entire scene except for the camera and target to a dummy object. This dummy object is moved and rotated to create motion. Everything works fine…

As far as my original problem with alpha goes…I experimented by turning off gamma and using negative alpha it seemed to work! Not perfectly in my opinion, but good enough to keep. Doesn't make sense to me but… 256 level alpha should be perfect in the 32 bit environment. No…

I've rendered the magic with alpha and then applied glow based on brightness with alpha on. when I composited I got no transparency…when I rendered with alpha split and looked at the alpha is was all white! My earlier problem came from the use of flics instead of targas. I…

I'm using Magic to create a comet trail and would like to apply a glow to the trail. I've rendered the comet trail separately with alpha and applied LenZFX glow with alpha to get the desired glow. When I go to composite the animation in video post I'm not getting…
#164902 vectorised Logo's Message #165066
If importing a DXF or AI file doesn't work you can use your scan by setting it as your background in your renderer and then using "view/see background" in the 2D shaper. You can then trace the logo. Don't zoom or anything though…the background won't zoom with you! This is…

I found both manuals a little confusing so here goes…. If you have a fade in from frame 1 to 60 you would use a single line in video post and move your marker dots to the 60 frames that you want to use and use fade in. On the…
