Help with a dead A2000
Message #90096
Paul; My motherboard is a 4.4, and it was always working before. It is working now, in fact. I just had a bad mix of drives/host adaptors/accelerators. Once I returned to the original working config, all is well…. Karl
John; I have a Microbotics 8UP! card with 8MB of 80ns ram…. This is the dip version of the card. Works great. 200 bucks seems like a fair price…. Karl
Jonathan; I have a Microway Flicker Fixer for sale…. 160.00 …. Make an offer if you think that is too much! Karl
Mike!!! I will buy Distant Suns, IF it is 2.0 compatible,, and 030 compatible! Karl Mitschke Lynden Incorporated 18000 Pacific Highway South Suite 810 Seattle, WA 98188 (206) 430-5517
Thanks Jerry; Was sure that the docs said I just had to click the icon and it would boot 68000 mode. It did say I would lose the drive, and ram, though. I don't mind losing the drive and ram whilst playing games ….. Anyhow, I guess I will hire…
Great, Commodore blows another one! Seems like C= needs to do some serious work internally. A4000's that can't accept full size drives in internal drive bays… A1200's that can't drive an IDE signal furthar than a few inches,…. And, they fine folks in marketing bring the A1200 out WAY too…

Hi All! I have a GVP Series II 030 board, and have noticed alot of games don't work anymore… I have an icon, boot 68000 on my harddrive, but it doesn't seem to do anything. How do I boot the 68000 so I can play games? Karl
Denny; We use foot long IDE cables in our Clone PC's…. Should be able to go at least that far in an A1200.. No? Or, is there a problem with Commodores IDE controller? I plan to put an A1200 on my desk soon, and plan to use an external IDE…
#Dead A1000 🙁
Message #84044
I have a friend with a dead A1000. The symptoms are: 1) On initial power up, it never goes beyond a grey screen. 2) Soft booting will then get it past the grey screen, but doesn't always come up with the kickstart icon. 3) When the kickstart icon does show…

Yes, I might be able to be talked int selling the adaptor! What is the thing worth? Karl
Yes, it is an A1000 Module, I believe… Has a gender changer.. One end of the gender changer says Amiga other end says Digiview…. Karl
Well, Chris…. I am about to find out what is up at Newtek…. I just bought an A2000 with Digiview, and it is an older module, so I will call and see if they want to exchange it. As I already have a new module, I don't really need this…

Chris; I bought an older digiview once, and Newtek upgraded my software for very cheap, I beleive 5 bucks, and then upgraded my module from an a1000 model for free. Wonder what happened to change this policy? Wish I could remember the name of the lady I talked to. Karl

Ben…. > I'm 300 miles from the nearest city; Glasgow, which is a fair bit away, is only about 4000 people total. From my windows, on the plains, you cannot see any other lights – at all – at night. Just stars, the Aurora Borealis, and the various moons and…
WIN NT is NOT vaporware… It is shipping in the Software Developers Kit, and is into Beta now… I run NT on my system… Do admit it uses LOTS of resources! 🙂 You are in Bozeman, right? Boy, I miss Montana.

Well, I don't have any sort of tape drive, so I guess I'm not interested! Karl
I am interested in the UNIX.. How does it work? Does it have a TCP/IP implementation? Also, what are min requirements for hardware to run it? Karl
I keep forgetting I live in Seattle now, and there are dealers around… Will check with them.. karl
Where do I get the 2.1 update software? I haven't seen or read anything about it. Not surprising, since I also haven't seen or heard anything in the press about the A4000. Also, what is model number for the drive? Karl
Betty; I need a comm package so I can login to CIS with my Amiga… doesn't do much good to download WHAP! to the IBM…. But, I was looking through my boxes, and I found Diga! which I bought sometime ago, here on CIS, so I will install it on…

CD_ROM INSTALL
Message #74107
Well, thanks everyone for all the help on my CD ROM install. Although I now have far more grey hair than before, and my dog knows several new colorfull swear words, I now have a working CD ROM drive. Thanks, everyone!!! OK, OK, stop complaining already! I'll tell you what…
Michael; I believe that HDToolBox only loads if you have a Commodore Controller. I could be wrong, but I have never seen it on my hard drive, just read about it in the manual… However, it is a moot point now. (see my next message to ALL) Karl
Where is this HDTOOLBOX? I assume that that is a Commodore program? Karl
Thanks Jonathan; I knew I recognized the name… As you may have noticed, I am selling the ram board with all 8MB of ram since it isn't comapatable with my ne accellerator. I will call Go Amigo today to order Xetec software. Karl
Jonathan Tell me more about the Xetec software… Where can I buy it? Karl P.S. Don't I recognize you from a forum named WINNT? If so, are you doing what I want to do, and using the Toshiba with both the Amiga and NT? Still me.
Michael; I don't believe the CD ROM is terminated, as I still have 100% reliable access to the hard drive that is located at the end of the cable that the cd rom drive is located on. My CD ROM docs definatelly mention the OPTIONAL terminator, part number TRM-02… So,…
Yes, the mountlist.cdrom has the correct unit ID, and all the tools also have the correct number. For all that are helping me on this problem, I should probally re-memtion the fact that I can do a dir cd0: and it will tell me "no disk in cd0:" as opposed…
Betty; That is how I plan to use mine. I have a case from an external MAC hard drive that I plan to put the CD Rom drive in. Then, I can access it from both Amiga and IBM. First, though, I want to get the thing to work! Karl
I have had the hardframe and GVP both fail to drive the CD ROM drive… Same failure. At first I thought the GVP was too fast for the CD ROM. Now I don't know what to think. I have connected both SCSI devices and devices with proprietory (yech) ointerfaces into…
tell me more about distant suns… I have seen a few reviews, but I am sober, so I can't remember what it is…. Is it just a planetarium type program, or is it along the lines of a fractal scenery generator? I am looking for a program that will tax…
Don; I cvan run the CD Audio program, don't know if it plays the CD, will have to bring my headphones into the "computer room"! You say the drive is terminated… According to the docs you faxed me, the drive isn't terminated… It needs an extenal terminator… Do you have…
I thought I had made it clear in my message that the cd rom was intrernal, and was on the same cable as my hard drive, which is terminated. So, what I have looks like this; Host Adaptor —– CD ROM —- Hard drive One cable, terminated at the hard…
Betty et all; That's how mine works. In user-startup is a line mount cd0: from mountlist.cdrom Karl
I am using CD ROMFS? and the drive is internal. Karl
Betty; My cd rom drive is internal, and has a terminated device on both ends of the cable. (My hard drive and the host adaptor) I would like to mount the CD rom external, so I could share it with my IBM. If I hadn't just bought my 030/33 board,…
