Imagine and EGS 28/24
Message #97570
I seem to be having a problem getting Imagine 3.1 to work properly with my EGS 28/24 Spectrum board. As long as I use the 640 x 480 resolution everything works fine, but if I go to any resolution thats higher, things get a little screwy. First of all whenever…
Hey, thanks a million. Later… Randy.
#Internet and Imagine.
Message #82103
I've recently joined the Internet in anticipation of joining the Imagine mailing list. Only one problem. I can't find it!! I've preformed many searches all over the place but can't seem to find it anywhere. Can anybody tell me how to find it? Thanks.. The Internet Novice.. 🙂 Randy
Ok, I thought it would be pretty complicated, but I had to ask anyways just in case. Thanks for the info. Randy.
Ummmm, stupid question but how does one go about tying lines together? Randy.
#Null Cable Probs…
Message #98223
I have a little problem. Here's the scenario: I'm redoing my BBS and I want to see how it looks from the remote end. Instead of bothering other people to phone up I thought that if I get another computer and hook up my machines via Null modem cable I…
Ok, once again thanks for the info. Actually I am writing stuff to a file but printing is one of the many functions that our teach wants included in the program. Actually pretty cool. I now have the know how to make my character generation program. Anyways, talk later… Randy.
Hmmmm, on the compiler I was using at school stdout directs the output to the monitor. I'll have to try it on the amiga. Thanks… Randy.
Thanks. I thought it might be something like that. Randy.
#Help!!!
Message #34256
Hopefully somebody out there can give me a hand. I'm currently working on a lab that deals with outputting data to the printer. At school I use IBM's and therefor have some trouble converting some of the code so it's works on my amiga. Printing is one of them. When…
Well, I tried it and it worked!!!! I read Worleys manual but it didn't mention anything about it. It didn't even dawn on me to look in the actual Imagine manual. Guess it might actually have it's uses. Thanks.. Randy.
Never tried it on a moving object before. I'll have to try it out. Thanks. Randy.
Well, at least I'm not the only one out there. Thanks anyways…. Randy.
Tumble Help
Message #48441
Can anybody out there UL a copy of the tumble effect to me. I think there is something wrong with my file. I've talked to other people and nobody seems to have any problems with it. When I use the effect, nothing happens to my object. It just sits there.…
I've seen the article and was slightly blown away by it. Actually with my Cauldron scene that I'm working on now, I'm having trouble getting the right lighting. I want the atmosphere in the room to be dark and filled with shadows. It's quite hard to do. Perhaps I should…
I was originally thinking about extruding it but I wasn't sure if it would look right. I don't think that the object would get extruded along the Y-axis. Actually now that I think about it, I could have just changed the axis position couldn't I? Just rotate it around the…
The space Shuttle eh? Thats getting pretty complicated. Way out of my league. Right now I'm working on my Halloween picture. It's going to be a room surrounded by shadows with a big cauldron in the middle. From the cauldron will come a green light with a lot of mist/gas.…
Well I did the copy/paste thing and it actualy worked out pretty good. Now I just have to do some finishing touches and the cup should be presentable. Thanks again for the help. Randy.

#Mapping
Message #44821
Ok, thanks for the help. I'll give it a try and let you know how it turns out. Randy.
Yeah, me to. Always looking for a neat effect on the ground. Have you tried the spots texture. Thats one of my favorite ones. Oh well, later… Randy.
I guess that would work. I was hoping that there would be an easier way to do it. I guess deep down I knew that it wouldn't be a piece of cake. Actually the way I would have to do it would be to make three paths. Then throw in…
The color of my fog was a grey. I'll have to play with it later when I have a use for it again. Randy.
Well it we seem that even the great Steve has faults. Oh well, as least I can get the fog objects to work. Randy.
I just received my order form in the mail today. It looks great! I'm definately going to mail off that order form today. Later… Randy.
Well, I stuck in -10,000 and 10,000 in the boxes and didn't get anything. Oh well, it dosn't really matter anymore anyways. I moving on to another animation now. Later… Randy.
I've heard something about Essence but don't really know what it is. Is it just a bunch of brush maps or something like that? Randy.
Like I said in the last message, I'll pump in some numbers in those boxes. Could have sworn that if you just leave the values as zero, then its a total global fog. Anways, thanks for the help. I tell yah guys how it turned out. Randy.
I thought it didn't matter if you set a upper/lower limit. At least thats what Steve Worley says. I'm also pretty sure that I tried setting limits. I'll try again though. I probably didn't and just think I did. Talk later.. Randy.
#Global Fog
Message #41480
Ok, what am I doing wrong? I'm trying to get a global fog going but I just can't seem to get it to work. I've typed in a variety of numbers for the fog length and get nothing. I've tried different colors and still nothing. Whats going on? Randy.
Oh, I didn't know that. I was going to eventualy have a look for Adam. Is it a newer version than Daam? Randy.
The program I'm thinking about is called DAAM.LHZ. Might be in LHA form to, I can't really remember. Try looking in the amigarts file base. It's in the graphics ultilities area. Something like that anyways. Randy.
Boing and Stuff
Message #41400
Well, I finally had a chance to go through your messages. And it does work! Kind of a sneaky way to get around the boing effect. What eventually happened though was that I just left out the boing effect. I changed the balls to more of a metallic substance. Just…
Thanks. I'll have a look at it (it's in the buffer…) and see what happens. Actually I kind of scrapped the boing idea but maybe now I'll stick it back in. Talk later when I see what happens… Randy.
There is a program called DAAM that will do what you want. It's specially made for what you want to do. It will also make the anim file for you afterwards. I believe it's here on Compu somewhere…. Randy.
Boing??
Message #41206
I seem to be having a problem with the boing effect for Imagine 2. Here's what happens. My sphere accelerates nicely down my path and hits my platform. It is then supposed to compress and decompress, and then start to go back up. The problem is however, when the Boing…
Well, I need all the help I can get. I'll definately have to have a look at it. Thanks…. Later. Randy.
This message is in reguards to Imagine: The possiblities. Is that tape for Imagine 2.0? Short but to the point. Randy.
Whoops! Just read your answer. So It looks like I may be screwed. Guess I'll just have to bring the machine in anyways and have the tech guys have a look at it. Thanks for the help. That goes to Michael as well. Later… Randy.
Sounds like that might be the problem. Is there anything that I can do about it here? Like maybe sticking a fan close to the computer. I really dread sending my computer away for a while. I'll suffer from computer withdrawal!!! Randy.
I was trying to do this on a single object. Are you trying to tell me that is won't work on single solitary objects? Randy.
#Icon Probs
Message #22835
I seem to be having a prob with my 3000. Sometimes I go to click on my partition icons and nothing happens! No matter how many times I click I just can't get the machine to do anything. How ever when I reboot, the problem is fixed. Also only happens…
Tumble FX
Message #38194
Has anybody been able to use the Tumble FX? Whenever I try to use it, the object dosn't do anything. It just stays still. Anyways, as usual, any help would be appreciated. Randy.
PalStuff
Message #21800
Could anybodyout there please upload a prog called ResetPal? Reason being that I just bought Ultima VI and to my surprise found that it is in Pal mode. The guys at the store say that ResetPal will make it work and thats it PD software. Thanks… i] Randy.
Thats one of the few instances where I have run out of memory with my setup (The same as yours!!). Plus at the same time I was running a BBS in the background that took up about 3-400k of mem. I took the BBS down and low and behold I…
Ok, thanks for the info. Later…. Randy.
I thought that might be the problem but was expecting a "Out Of Memory" warning. I guess it does sort of make sense though. Six megs and still not enough… Randy.
24 Bit Brush Map
Message #35955
I have a little problem with brush maps on imagine. Is there any way to put a 24 bit brush map onto an object? Whenever I try to do this I just get empty space. Randy.
I haven't had that problem, but I have noticed that if your not in the imagine screen when your quickrender displays the image, you don't see it. Stated better, if your off in some other window when the quickrender finishes it dosn't bother to keep the picture. Seems to finish…
I may have to look into that later on. After buying my new machine and the DCTV, I'm just a little broke. Anyways, thanks for the info. Later. Randy.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Leave it to me to make something more complicated. Later… Randy.
