Mark, Thanks! Amanda Pixelations
Ray, WordPerfect uses its own drivers. have you looked on the PRINT disk? Surely there is a driver there – it has 400 or more! I really think there is a driver there for your printer. Betty
jUSTIN, Boy! I have msgs everywhere ! Sorry to make you answer 3 different places. I was just trying to hit all the bases to get a quick responses. RSN is just about my LEAST favorite phrase. I appreciate you attitude. ….Mark
Mark, PrintScript is due in early February, depending on printing schedules. I've been on the receiving end of "Real Soon Now" too many times myself, so we won't announce and slip, slip, slip. I'll send you EMAIL when we are shipping. The price will be $89. Justin Fisher Pixelations
Calvin, Haha; they probably can't afford it (a forum on CI$). The ad for Pagestream in AW Feb shows some output which looks pretty good. My Deskjet is just waiting to spit out some decent looking stuff. I check Genie every few days for the latest bitches about the continuing…

I just got WordPerfect (I'm still waiting for my printer). Anyway, I am in need of the type of printer I should use for my NX1000 Rainbow on the printer settings. Or is there a way I could get a driver in there. Thanks Ray

Fontographer? — Colin —
Thanks, Clint! I yanked myself a copy when it came over usenet a few weeks ago and think that I've also seen it in the libs over in AmigaTech too so as far as I know, I think we're cool. Thanks again for the info, twas good! -John
Calvin – As far as screen shots, as you may have noticed, we software developers are a fickle lot. Stuff usually gets changed, fixed and moved around in the eleventh hour. As ads for the larger circulation rags like AW are submitted sometimes up to 3 months prior to publication,…
Mark, I wish they had a support forum here so that we would have more up to date info on release dates and delays. Like you, I understand it will be worth the wait. Its got to be better then PageSetter!
s for the information. I understand that they had some problems with bugs and delays. I have seen some printouts from the ST version and I can hardly wait to get the Amiga version. But I still say a year is a bit long to run ads before the product…
As I recall, it asks which drive you wish to use, df0: through df3:. As I have only 0 and 1, the others are ghosted. I have never tried df0:, but I assume it works. One note: take any disks out of the drive before you click in the gadget…
Thanks, I appreciate that. By the way, have you noticed how many of those large $6,000 ads don't even show a screen shot of the program. Some of those ads ran for months before I even knew what kind of game or product it was. The ads for games tend…
Right, Rick. Anything that doesn't respond to the mouse has become a ton of trouble. WP programs must work either way. Betty
"For most people who are word processing, using the mouse needlessly slows down input." I'll agree with that, with one noteable exception. When marking a block of text for copy or cut, it is one HECK of a lot faster to point/click/drag/release than it is to cursor up over THERE,…
Clint, Does the PCPATCH utility (or whatever it is called) support operations on df0: or only on df1: + devices? In other words, with the patched pcutils, would I be able to format a disk to ms-dos/360K format in the internal 3.5" drive on an A2000? -John
Clint, The clor correction option tries to match the screen colors to the colors printed by your printer. Click on any one or all three of the colors you want corrected. I usually click on all three, which reduces my total number of colors to something over 3,000. It definetly…
Calvin, I too sent in my money many months ago (June). I don't think they shipped on Dec. 26 as I have not yet received it. I have gotten 4-5 postcards with various inaccurate excuses. They cashed the check in Sept. I DO know that they are acually issuing refunds…
Tell me about the color correction – I haven't been able to really figure it out. Do you click just one, or any combination of colors? What effect on the picture would clicking one color, say blue, have? Thanks. (Is the info in the 1.3 Enhancer manual? I may have…

Using a patch (on a Fish disk) to the PCutils that came on your Extras disk, you can format a 3.5" disk in MSDOS 360k format, which the laptop would recognize. Then you could use the copy program in PCutils to bring it in to AmigaDos. Simple and FREE.
Another thing to remember about magazines is a little devil called "lead time". For a magazine you got in you mailbox yesterday (for example), SoftLogik might have had to place the ad in September. It's entirely possible that they _thought_ back then they'd have the program done by now, but…
Jeff, If you improve the fonts that are there, please share your results with the rest of us. Betty
If I could have the key c5mands defined the way I wanted them I would ree. I can't, and using the mouse isn't so horrible. Ron
James, What I'd really like to see in ProWrite is the ability to have printer fonts and Amiga graphics on the same page. ARexx support would be welcome too. -sja
James, I will await developments with interest. :') Lee
Steve, as a former ST-er, I know SoftLogik to be a good and moral and reputable company. I believe they will come out with the product, but I don't believe they have been consciously abusing customer's money. I also think that no one would win in a class-action lawsuit. They…

For most people who are wordprocessing, using the mouse needlessly slows down input. WordPerfect has every single command replicated on the keyboard, with a keyboard template. Excellence! has very few keyboard commands – in fact, the simplest of word processing operations becomes a chore – deleting words, paragraphs, lines etc.
Calvin – From our point of view, our almost total lack of print advertising is one of the reasons we have been able t-eep the retail costs of our products fairly low. We have also found that for us, product mentions and reviews have a much better consumer response than…

They get $6,000!!! What do they get for ads of software that is real? Anyway, I just hope that when Pub. Partner finally does come out that it will have been worth the wait. Thanks for the information on the ad rates.
I feel the same way. It does slow down but overall I find it easy to use. It does have a macro facility that I haven't really tried to figure out yet. E! also does everything I currently need in a wp program. Ron

I have heard the same thing. The offer of a refund is, of course, the right and proper thing to do but I like most will wait for the program, since that is why I sent in the dollars to begin with. I guess that software companies and the mags.…
Steve, what did they do with all the disks of PageSetter that people sent in to them with their $50? Put the Atari verison on it?

Kurt, So long as those fonts were freely distributable in the first place, it is OK for you to upload them here. We'll be pleased to have them. Betty
In terms of Excellence vs. WordPerfect, the word processors I'm most familiar with, I would much rather have Excellence. The worst problem with it is how much it slows down when the document gets long. But I don't find macros a major loss. I'm not denying that many will miss…
James, the point of arexx is to have a common language, to the degree practical, between programs. Ron
Thanks James. Please let me know what you guys decide about those specific features I ask you about. Ron
Jeff, My color printouts have gotten a lot better using Density 2 and the new color correction option in the new Preferences. I'm using an Epson EX-800 and have been pleasantly surprised with the results under WB 1.3. :^) – Kurt –

Well, unfortunately I can't comment on what features will or will not be in the next major release of ProWrite (we are still deciding on these features). However, just like in ProWrite 2.0 vs. 1.0, we depend heavily on user feedback in determining just what features to include. As to…

I did not mean to imply that future versions of ProWrite would not include macro capabilities or an AREXX port; we are still determining what features to include in the next major release (based upon feedback from users). Macros are one of the items that we have had a few…
? I sent my PageSetter disk and $55 to them in April, and have been waiting ever since. I propose we get together and form P-FUG (PageStream Future User's Group). It's charter would give it two main purposes: 1) to exchange information, comments, ideas about PageStream if it's ever released,…

I've looked at the fonts in DL14. There a few that are ALMOST (IMHO 😉 right. That's why I'm looking for a good font editor.
As a software publisher I agree with you in principle, but the problem is that the Ads are how the MAGS stay in business. No Ad's = No $$ = No Mag. The ohnus should really fall on the publisher themselves. If it makes you feel any better I too…
I called the company that puts out Pub. Partner today and they said that they hope to start shipping next week. My guess is that means I will actually receive the program in late January, if nothing else goes wrong. I understand that this is a small company and they…
Ok, Steve, challenge time. Find us a reasonably priced wp/dtp program that is wysiwyg, multi column, good spelling checker, good font setup, very Amiga consistent, very easy to use, good preferences control, good detached printing control, fast, integrates full wrapped around iff hi res ham graphics, postscript (and laser express)…
You're right. The program isn't ready yet. Personally, I don't trust a program until about a month after it's out. Perhaps you can ask for your money back?
There are various ways to write spelling checkers. Using a word list is the most accurate but pzDably also the largest. Many spell checkers are based upon 'rules of English". Using these rules they will make up words that are correct according to the rules but are meaningless. Many spell…
You're the only other person who's mentioned excellence!'s spelling checker makes up words. Not a single reviewer has noticed it. As for handling fonts, I gave up on it long ago, and use Prowrite when I need WYSIWYG.
