Scott, Man, I'm really sorry I've not been in touch. But I am swamped. I really think you should give some consideration to getting a group project going with the users of your various products. It is a great way to create community spirit, encourage learning and foster growth in…

Hi Carlos: Thank you for purchasing our SoftF/X software. Although we position SoftF/X primarily as an animation software package with the modeler as an addedutility, we have found many people such as yourself to be very interested in the modeler. Hence we are currently developing a modeling specific tutorial. The…
Thanks Mark… I'll give it a try.
Dear Rick Quisenberry: The shader color can not be set in the "Shader Preview Dialog." This priview dialog is used only to view the color and shader (texture) combination quickly so that the model does not have to be rendered every time you change the face color, shader color, and/or…
Scott – Thanks for your reply. I'm glad that you folks recognize the need for more 'how-to's" on the modeler. I am feeling my way around, and have made some progress. Perhaps you can give me a bit of a nudge… I'm trying to apply a procedural map to one…
Scott, We'd be happy to trade you for a copy of your product. I'm not sure how much my boss would appreciate me rendering tech support for other companys *too* often. 🙂 Jason ERI Technical Support Saint
Hi Jason: Thanks for the tech help. I'll send you a complimentary copy of SoftF/X if you'll learn it and keep up the great tech support. What do you say? Best regards, Scott
Hi Rick: I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the modeling portion of SoftF/X. You are quite correct in that the modeler is quite sophisticated. We are currently working on a tutorial for the manual. We will let you know when it is completed. In the…
Thanks Rob. I wasn't able to find an upgrade on MS Forum, so I simply removed it. Everythings fine now (except that I'm still lost with the program!). Rick
>>(2) remove a specific reference in the win.ini (or system.ini, I have this info at work and can't recall the details right now) to the part of the mouse driver that fails.
Jason – Thanks for the reply – I'll look for the new mouse driver. Rick
Rick, Although I'm not with Byte by Byte, I can answer this question. Soft F/X is likely a Win32s application. Microsoft mouse drivers prior to the most recent version will typically crash when a Win32s app is first run. This does not impact the machine, as you have discovered. You…
#Soft F/X Application Err

I've just received my copy of Soft F/X, which I'm running under Windows 3.11. I'm primarily interested in learning the modeler, so I tend to launch it without going through the Soft F/X. When I do this, I consitently get a 'Growstub' Application Error in the POINTER.DLL. I can continue…
Hi Dean: We are indeed shipping SoftF/X now. I believe that you will be very pleased with SoftF/X. We exhibited in the Microsoft third party booth at Comdex last week and the response was outstanding. We look forward to your comments and suggestions. Best regards, Scott

Hi Doug: I am pleased that you are excited about SoftF/X. If your designers found Envisage easy, they will be blown away by the ease of use of SoftF/X. We implemented almost all of the suggestions from users of Envisage as well as worked closely with some Microsoft interface designers…
I'll order mine today! I am looking for a program as easy to use as Envisage, but for Windows. As I have said before, I have professional 3D guys who love 3D studio, but I also have some designers and artists who could never learn the interface. They want things…
Hi Scott, thanks for your reply. -David
Hi Doug: Good to speak with you again. SoftF/X is the new Windows 3.1/NT version of Envisage 3D. We have redesigned the interface to be completely Windows-standard. Basically the only time we did not religiously follow the Windows interface guidelines is when Photoshop did not. Our objective with the SoftF/X…
#SoftF/X Release Day
Message #1295
Hi Scott! It took me a while to find my way over here to the forum I helped set up, but here I am! Thanks for participating. What is Soft/FX? – Doug Wolfgram/GRAFX, Written 19-Oct-1994 @ 08:30:59 Using: Windows NavCIS PRO 1.25
Hi David: The modeler in SoftF/X offers basically the same features as did Envisage 3D for DOS with the exception of a new 2D Bezier drawing tool. The 2D Bezier drawing tool functions exactly as the one in Adobe Illustrator. The new SoftF/X modeler is much easier to use and…
You will have a demo with a tutorial? Never seen that, but it sure is a good idea. A demo of a complex program without any docs is useless. BTW how has the modeller changed since the DOS version? Are there deformation tools? -David
Dear Sir: Thanks for your information about the product. Finally, I also got a question. Does the software have 30 day money back guarantee?
Hi Dave: Thank you for your interest in our SoftF/X software. SoftF/X will be released in the U.S. and Canada on or before Nov 7,1994. The introductory price through 12/94 is $497.50, a 50% savings off the $995 list price. The demo version will not be available until late November.…

Quick couple of questions. Do you still offer a demo of Soft F/X as per Envisage? If so, is the cost still the same as per the Envisage demo? And finally, is Soft F/X set up to take advantage of SMP in NT machines? Please reply; I posted a similar…
Hi Daniel: SoftF/X (formerly called Envisage 3D) offers most of the features found in 3D Studio with the exception of their compositing module. SoftF/X is a true 32-bit application that runs under Windows 3.1 (with Win32 S DLL) and "Windows NT whereas 3D Studio is DOS based. SoftF/X is much…

Dear Sir: What did you mean on SOFT F/X? Will the ship date of this software be not destributed until 10/31/94? Please tell me more about this program…. (Currently I am using the trueSpace 3D software, but I did not feel good)
Sean, I don't know if you already found the answer to your question as the post is quite old but maybe I can help. If you're asking about Sculpt 3D 4.0 the DXF import is fantastic. I use quite a few 3D graphics programs and have found that importing a…

I would very much like to see examples of your software for possible use in CompuServeCD… we are doing an article on eye-popping graphics and animations online. My deadline is October 4 so if you could send me something, or respond asap, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Dan Shultz CompuServeCD
Sean, I'm sure Bruce meant no offense when he pointed that the public posting of one's home phone number is not a practice CIS encourages. The recent piece on 20/20, or one of those other tv magazine programs, pointed quite well how such postings can lead to grief. As for…
