Jason, I think it has not to be a multimedia-encyclopaedia. Just take the text and pictures, the effort on doing this would be so much. You can reserve the sound and videoclip stuff for version 2 or 3, then you will have better quality than MS Video or Intel have…

The version of Street Atlas that required a floppy disk patch should be sold out by now. The problem was when a lot of fonts were installed. The Price Club should have the current version. I prefer Map Expert, but it is a lot more money. I was told to…

Rod: System 7 File Sharing 'locks in' any mounted volumes when it starts up, even if they aren't explicitly shared. To avoid getting your CDs 'trapped', don't start up with a CD in the drive. When starting up, wait until the Mac reaches the Finder, and then at least 20…
Writing CD-ROM Message #52905
From: Stephan Hartmann CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware July 16, 1993 11:54 AM
Hello, I just thougt about having a "Writing" CD-ROM Drive for creating real CD-ROMS (not WORM disks available on the market, because the end user will have a cheap CD-ROM Drive instead of an expensive WORM) in small series as a service to some of my customers, which deal with…

From: Roger C. Pao CDROM Forum · Drives/Hardware July 16, 1993 11:41 AM
How do you know the 1740 never sees the CD-ROM? It never prints anything other than drive C: and D:. What CD-ROM drive are you using? Is synchronous transfers turned off? If you're using a Toshiba 3401, I have heard you need drivers from Adaptec which support it. Corel SCSI…

I missed the first part of this thread. What is a Sony CDU-541-CL? I have a CDU-541-01 (no CL). I have been able to get it to work with single-session photo CDs only. I do not believe there is any way to get it to work with multi-session. rp93

There's a product from Microsoft called "Multimedia viewer" which apparently compiles documents into an indexed, hypertext-linked application with searching capabilities, etc. I haven't used it, but it looks pretty good. Version 2.0 just released, $495 list.

Mike, Can you give me some more specifics about exactly what you've tried with the 31A driver, and how it is failing? Are you trying to install OS/2 2.1 off of the CD-ROM, or do you already have it installed and you're just trying to add support for the 31A?…

Jim, The BBS number for Sony is 408-955-5107. They have a single line, so it is frequently busy, but keep trying. Also, they've just moved into a new facility in San Jose and the phone system has a lot of problems. When you finally get connected, you'll find the latest…

You can d/l mscdex from CIS (GO MULTIMEDIA), filename is MSCDEX.EXE; or (GO MSL) and d/l CDEXT.EXE. The former should be v2.22, the newest; the latter may still be v2.21. If you have DOS6, it comes with that product; just look in your DOS directory. Some of the oddities of…
