#165925 IK advice? Message #165935
I am not sure equating bones with armatures will work very well. I did make up and prosthetics (did you ever take Dick Smith's make up course?) and all that on an amateur (occasional professional) basis for a while before I got my current job, and I approached bones the…

If you wouldn't mind sending them, I would apprecieate it. I have the official documentation and disks on the way already, but it is going to be probably until tuesday before the package gets here. I'd like to check them out before then.
#165874 #3DS/Motion Pic Resol Message #165900
What exactly is considered film resolution, anyway?

I have a question. I just purchased the textures of yours from Schrieber. It comes with some material libraries, including a Rock.MLI, full of granites, marbles & such. the only problem is that they all seem to be the same two or three textures. I thought I was still in…
#165799 #Convention risks Message #165808
The only saving grace for me is that I've never been to New Orleans, so I figured i'd just suffer the heat and humidity.
#165731 #Convention risks Message #165742
Well, your in luck! Next year it is NEW ORLEANS in August! Can you say 200% humidity? 🙂

You can't use snapshot to get a copy of the deformed mesh, but you can do it by saving a "*.GEO" file from the bones pro KXP, and then loading up the bones pro PXP in the 3d editor, loading the .geo file, and running the PXP. (or something very…
#165592 scripting job Message #165611
From: Tim c Branan Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Scripts April 19, 1995 10:45 AM
I created the trees myself, so, yes, I do have control of their design. At present the pivot point of the trees is at the default center, only because I have no skill at scripting and can't write one to automatically alter it to the bottom center.

scripting job Message #165533
I have a proposition to offer those who are good at writing scripts and feel they can do what I ask fairly soon. The problem I am having is I need a script to do a certain thing, and I just don't have the knowledge to create it in a…

I have been attempting to incorportate the select.k3d script into my move script and it almost works, except I seem to have an object name wrong or something. I am not exactly sure how to fix it, but I am 99.9% certain it is a simple fix. The error I…

From: Tim c Branan Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Scripts April 18, 1995 12:48 PM
I tried out your align script. I don't have the Planet studio issue that describes this routine, so, pardon my ignorance, but what is this supposed to do? I tried it with several variables and it always dumped my objects at 0,0 in the world coordinate system, though it did…

#165335 Back up the PAR ? Message #165371
I feel that way about my Exabyte 8mm. I like the idea of backing up 5 gigs uncompressed without changing tapes.
#165196 #Back up the PAR ? Message #165263
NovaStor can be reached at: (805) 579-6700 You might also look into Norton Backup for windows. It sees the par drive just fine and I can load and backup straight to it, plus I find it more reliable than corelSCSI. I had too many problems with the backup software. It…
>>>Thanks for your help. It sounds like I ought to set up a multi-config boot for start up since I believe most of my other programs run better with EMM.386 installed. I also won't be able to load stuff into UMB w/o HIMEM, right? Anyway, I'll putz around with it…
#Place.pxp script Message #165152

Is it possible to write a pxp script that will function the same as the Place ipas on Yost ipas disk #5? I could use this, but I can't spend 300 bucks for one little routine.
I have the KAI stuff on order, won't be here for a week or two, Getting it as a bundle with some other software. I will look into it when it arrives. Thanks for the info.
I check out the world creating toolkit, and it has four tiling textures. I guess I will have to check out texture universe.
#165089 Siggraph Present Message #165099
>>>Great! It looks like there will be a two-day advanced 3D Studio seminar weekend the Saturday and Sunday before Siggraph at UCLA. Should be fun, so far the confirmed speakers are Alan Iglesias, Paul Lind, Doug Wolfgram, Jim Biebl, and Nancy Fulton. (Oh, yea, me too!)
>>Have you looked into the SXPs from Mike White here on the forum? Good stuff…
Anyone know a good source for tiling textures for granite and marble? I need good tiling maps, with decent variety and good detail. Thanks to all
From: Tim c Branan Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage April 15, 1995 11:17 PM
I don't suppose you have any granite or marble sxp's? I saw some demos around, I figured they were yours, but I am not certain. I started a project that requires a *lot* of marble and granite and SXPs would be ideal for the job.

#164964 Temp file problems Message #164976
have you checked to see how much Hard drive space you have? It sounds like your full.
you need to REM out your memory manager in your config.sys file, for it to run. If you are using just DOS, which is what it sounds like, rem out himem.sys and emm386.exe. After that, it should just boot up. What is happening now is you are trying to run…

#164422 grid mesh Message #164441
You could use a pxp that comes with 3ds. I believe it is called "grid". It allows you to create a flat plane or a box with settings for how many grids it is broken up to. It has come in handy for me on many occasions. the only other…
#164258 lost mapping icon Message #164268
Whenever I can't find it, I always do a region fit (Surface/Mapping/Adjust/Region Fit) then re-adjust it the way you want. this only works with planar mapping, but you can always change it to whatever you want once it is back in frame. You can also try Surface/Mapping/Adjust/Acquire
#164118 Backing up Par Message #164244
You might try using Norton Backup. I use it here with our 8mm exabyte, and norton sees it all, including the PAR drive. I have had good success with it, after trying several other backup programs that were lacking in one way or another.

My system is very similar, except I have no IDE drives. I have a 2 gig, and a 1 gig scsi, PAR, Sound Blaster 16, ATI Mach 64. I think the problem you are having is because the dxf3ds converter was created when 3ds R1 was new, and it isn't…

This is a routine called DISPLACE on the Yost Boutique IPAS disk #7 that will do exactly what you want. Call your multimedia dealer or Schrieber at 1-800-FOV-IPAS. Plus the disk has all sorts of other cool and IMHO, indespensible IPAS routines like TEMPO, and OPTIMIZE.
