Well, I personaly prefer the 600e over the BJC 4000. Similar, I prefer the BJC 610 over the BJC4100. But it all depends on you personal taste. Currently, I do think the BJC 610 is a very good deal. It is offering the reliability of the 600e with 720 dpi…
Printer Problems
Message #216506
Peter, Digita Print Manager can only be used with Digita products. The drivers from Digita Print Manager are from Studio I (we now ship Studio II). So don't try to print from any non-Digita product as this will not work. The driver will refuse to work… If you want the…
I can remember a note that CMD had a problem with the Commo HP Laserjet driver… but I thought this only applied to a very very old WB version… WB 3.0 should work… and why not simply print to the Laserjet using the Deskjet driver. In most cases this should…
I know some users do use Studio's SetupPJL program with Epson printers. So it seems, that the Epson printers are pretty compatible. However, I can't remember wich Epson printer was used and what PJL settings are supported by the Epson. At least it seems to work for the basic SetupPJL…
Sorry, I don't have their address as I usualy work with different departments. I would suggest you look into your printer manual. Often there is a list of all major subsideiaries. If everything fails, you can get the disk from me for $15(cash). But why not simply downloading the disk…
Thanks for your answer. I received Diavolo Pro V3.02 a view days ago. But the problem of making an easy multiple volume backups still exists. Using filters just doesn't make much difference. But I'm not sure. Maybe I missed a feature. But let's describe it: 1. Filters allow a more…
Need Laserprinter help!
Message #215295
Studio for $150? Well, I'm sure if you look at various mail orders, you might get it for nearly half the price. The RRP of Studio is DM 135 ($95) in most countries and often things are cheaper at mail order companies. At least I have seen US ads for…
Who's using LJ-5MP?
Message #214942
Studio does support the 5MP. Basicly, the 5MP is pretty much the same as all other LJ5xx or LJ4xx printers. The major difference as far as drivers are concerned are the supported PJL commands for setting up the printer.

You can get the Panasonic driver disk here on CIS in the AmigaUser library. Sorry, I don't know the exact file name. The disk does include a big fully featured driver for the 2123. In case you can't find it, contact Panasonic. The disk was developed by me for Panasonic…

> I saw no obvious option for backing up an entire harddrive (6 . > partitions) . > with only one opertation. This is possible, right? Asha, that's a very good question! Actually, it was one of the biggest problems I had with Diavolo 1.27. When I bought it 11…
#Printing with TeX
Message #214939
Most users misunderstand. Learning TeX? What for? I wrote several big manuals with TeX and still don't know most of the TeX basics. It simply doesn't make sense to start learning TeX by reading the TeX books. Most of my friends (and include me) spend most of the time getting…
I have an Atlas 4.3GB running on my Amiga. I actually had the same question as you here on CIS 1-2 months ago. But I got no response here on CIS. The first problem I had was getting HDToolBox work right with a drive bigger than 2GB. While the partition…
Sorry Betty, but I still think you understood something wrong. I don't know any major application on the Amiga doing what you want. If applications print text and gfx on the same page, they use the printers gfx mode for everything including text. So, here you don't have any problems.…
Ha! Steve, you found a feature in the BJ/BJC driver when set to Extended Emulation. Yes, you can print text in Extended Emulation as long as you don't print graphics. Once you print graphics, the driver will not allow you to print text anymore. You can print text after graphics…
Steve, I thought of your problem when writing the manual. The mode selection is very important to BJ/BJC users. That's why it's mentioned several times in the manual. However, I decided not to describe the modes during the installation chapter of the software. As each printer has it's special features,…
I agree with Michael, if you run an unaccelarted A2000 with more than 19200, you might cause trouble. Some programs work fine with a plain 68000 and 38k… but just some. Solutions: the cheapest solution is to get an IO board. As these boards use buffered IO, they require much…
The US/Canada Studio II distribtuor is NoahJi's. Tel: 303-4991975
Sorry Lepido, most of the datatypes you mention do not work right. While writing datatypes support for my program, I checked serveral datatypes. Most of the turned out to be seriously buggy. Others are working fine. But because of limitations in the datatypes standard, running datatypes on some files are…
#Canon Studio Register
Message #209510
Yep, if you mainly print text, you'll be better of setting the driver to Epson emulation. Well, I don't think users can complain about this behaviour as other printers only offer one similar emulation. But as said, most applications are now able to print text in the printers graphic mode.…
Steve, does this really work? I would be suprised the if the MultiView bug is solved by switching prefernces to B/W. The b/w setting should only affect gfx and not text. Such an easy solution would be nice…
First to the problems of John: It pretty much sounds like you are having a serious hardware problem. I assume you have problems with your printer cable or CIA chips. Regarding the Canon and Studio manual: I'm always trying to improve the manual in order to help novice users. But…
Betty, all the latest Canon printers offer 3 emulations. Only two emulations are usualy mentioned to the user: BJ and Epson. However, in order to make real use of the printer, you have to use the third emulation available. This emulation is called "Native" or more recently "Extended". Now you…
Oh, I forgot to tell: In order to define a page length, you have to enable CanonForm in CanonPref. The page length itself is defined as usual in the printer preference program of the workbench. But this page length value is not used at all by the Commodore or Canon…
Dear Asha, please never copy a driver to the printer directory yourself unless there is no other way. Your recommendation doesn't work with the Canon drivers as they are compressed. Anyway: it's much easier to install a Canon driver: 1. Download the CanonDisk. 2. You also need a lzh compatible…
Greg, I agree. I didn't conclude that that the Optimizer does cause the problem just because the optimizer switch doesn't work… At least in one case it was the linker… But when I said I did heavy testing in some cases (as said, it took me weeks in total), I…

Huu? Only in Epson Emulation? Can you explain in more details? What did you select in order to get it not working? Did you simply select the BJC600 emulation in CanonPref? And wich application do you print from? PS: I (and Canon) knows there are some printers out there having…
#BJ-200 Won't do legal
Message #208221
The default page lenght for the US version of the BJ200e is 11" (US Letter according to the default dip switch setting). You need to change the page length by software. Now changing the page length requires you to download the original Canon driver. Don't use the old Canon BJ10…

Steve, do you know the version of the GhostScipt port? I mean the orig. version… not of the port itself. It would be stupid to download such a big file just to find out it's an old version… And there are lot's of versions out there…
Of course you can: the update to 6.55 is here on CIS. Or do you mean a new package?
How did I find out it's a bug in the optmizer? In this case simple: The library works with NOOPTGO and it doesn't work with the optimizer. And the program works with OPTGO and the SAS 6.55 compiler. Regarding the library. Yes, the PNG library had a bug but this…
Magazines? Oh well, the question is, can you expect a reviewer to run standard compiler tests? I think this makes a differences between a good and a bad compiler review. But than, it seems to be impossible to find such reviews. But I agree, the bugs in the compiler optimizer…

Well, at least until V6.51 the SAS compiler optimizer has several serious problems. At least I have to use NOOPTGO NOOPTPEEP switches in order to get a working program. I had several bugs in the final program with the optimizer switch on. I have tried V6.55 and so far it…

Printer Driver BJ-10sx
Message #196704
There are two BJ10sx drivers. One comes with the latest Workbench disk (CanonBJ10). This is basicly a driver made by Canon (or me) and used by Commo. The driver is also available in a MUCH more recent version on the CanonDisk V3.10 here on CIS in the AmigaUser forum library.…
Good question! Let me know once your worked out the solution kelly. I think one of the ethernet software packages on the Amiga comes with a print server (AmiTCP?). Another possibility might be using Oxxi's Novell Client server. But in this case you need to connect to the Novell network……
Sure. You can adjust the colors of the driver and the printing program that comes with Studio yourself in case they don't work for you. The Studio drivers allow you to adjust the colors as you like. The default DJ adjustment is made for normal paper (actually NeuSiedlers ColorCopy paper……
The calibration tool adjusts the printer. There is no known way to do alignment by software when printing graphics. The way the calibration tool works is unkown to me and not described in the confidential developer info I got from Epson. So I'm a bit angry and once I'm back…
First, I'm responsible for the programming of the orig. Canon BJC driver available on the CanonDisk V3.1 here on CIS. Do not mix that BJC driver with the other driver available here on CIS in a single archive. Only my Canon driver offers full Extended Emulation on the Amiga and…
You should have any problems getting a driver for a well known PC printer on the Amiga. Mac versions of printers are sometimes hard to support and thus you won't find a driver on the Amiga (or PC).
#SJ144 Trouble
Message #189865
Rick, did you try another paper with your Sj144? Make sure you use the paper recommended by Star for printing. I found bad papers to actually result in the problem you have. But then… you already have the printer some time and thus I think you now this already… So,…
I can only backup Jeff's message. Yes, I will definitly look into writing a similar tool for the Studio II package. Any yes, the tool does adjust the printer itself as the gfx command used for 720dpi printing on the stylus is single-line by single-line. The driver doesn't know when…

Me too, I'm a bit afraid of buying stuff as the PCMCIA stuff is not build on the usual chips and you must always buy a card that uses the normal socket services instead of getting to the hardware directly. I think there is a compatibility list somewhere in a…
Micheal, don't make it worse than it is. No problems getting the stuff here. And I allways wondered how all these magazines can exist in Germany. I'm pretty sure one will fold pretty soon. But this is something that should have happed already since years… nothing new…
The 3 times faster Studio version is something I have worked since the release of Studio V2 last November. I'm planning to make an update archive with the new software as soon as I find the time to finish/test things. The file will become available here on CIS for download.…
I haven't seen a PD solution yet. Did you? PS: Gary, the Studio printing program is now 3(!) times faster for Stylus Color users than the release version 😉
Or try NoahJi's Studio at 303-4991975. More expensive but also far superior to Endicor's software. Depends on how much you wanna spend and what kind of job you wanna do.
