That's not the street price in the SFBay Area, I've seen it considerably lower – but then I might be thinking used. Expensive for what it does – lunky too – big footprint. $1,900 for a color bubblejet is still to rich for me – have to make and use…
The Paintjet XL (wide platen) has the four cartridges. Not sure about the cost there. More $$$ to get started at first but then you can replace as you go. Also there are the syringe refil deals. Don't know about the ink quality. The regular paintjet as CYM in one…
Oh, by the way before I pay for the 6.3 download, did you get the coords working yet? Still needing it.
No never tried the generic paper either. Just saw it for sale. I was loaned a Paintjet for a few months. I bought $150.00 in paper and ink and went on a marathon printing session to get a portfolio of textile designs. I figured that ink and paper was about…
Lets, back up here. Hmm. Take 32 color lo res image and toss it in the IP hopper. Render to 24bit or less. Now does not IP extrapolate those colors the best it can, pad them out so to speak? I know it converts them to 24 on the load…
Ever try the "generic" clay coated paper. I've seen it around in PC mail order stuff.
#Save to Buff
Message #29635
Ben, Not sure if you can do this but why not? Ok. I'd like to render some old lower color/resolution images in IP file/IO. Now it will do it but why can't I save the improved image to a new buffer instead of the disk drive? I have to save…
Picture Thanksgiving dinner, fancy place setting, shimering glasses, polished silver when Dad goes on about how head sausage gets made. He starts with murdering the pig and ends with the canning, not skipping any details. Imagine the look on the guests that have come to dinner. Ooooh …. UPS is…
Well as I was told when you hitch mules or horses to a plow there is a leather strap or maybe a chain that goes around the backside. Now if the tail is in the wrong position relative to the strap your animal will buck and kick until the condition…
There are font cartridges for the Deskjet. I do mean a software emulator, whereby you'd batch your prints and go out for coffee. There are a slew of soft postscript emulators for the Macintosh that would be tiresome for publishing. However the output I've seen on a Paintjet with a…
I have too many ways with words. My parents were from Kansas and someday I'll explain what it is to have 'your tail over the line'. My father used to farm with mules.
Unless I'm missing something, I'd vote for the Deskjet C. Its my understanding that they have the Mac model out now which you would not want, weird cabling and all. Have not seen the IBM PC version but surely they will have one and then it'll work with the Amiga…
#Economic Index
Message #29165
Had to pass this one along… New Economic Index??? My rental has very sorry sewer pipes. The semi-annual clog reoccurred. So, into the Yellow Pages I go for plumbing roulette. The "technician" arrives ready to plug in the jaws of life and casts an eye upon my computer. "Is that…
Thanks for straightening me out here.
Wake up Barry!
Message #28732
Ben, Took the download for IP from Montana. Nearly had a heart attack after the 30 minutes had gone by, got the whole thing unpacked, looked at the panel (hmmm., looks the same) and then looked at the version number 5.1! Yipes, then I looked around and it wasn't the…
Well, I called them on Friday. They are putting out another version shortly 2.0 which will have faster thumbnail generation and some other fixes. They want to down the road have direct DCTV and Ham-E support. The company moved from Oakland (maybe just in time!) to Grass Valley.
I do some 16 color hi res art, have put some in Amigaarts you might like. However when I do the more limited palette, I design for it. One I did landed in Nudes, as 3Muses.lzh and another is in new uploads, FishI.lzh. Both have relatively small file sizes.
I just called Zardox (916) 274-8311 and got Imagefinder 1.0.1. The Auto Index is fixed but haven't tried it yet. Your best bet for 24 bit images is to use the grey scale. If you have a 16 color limit, most color images won't look right unless they share some…
Have no idea. Maybe the file got corrupted on the download. I have Ham-E Plus, file size for it isn't that large hmmmm. Are you viewing it with IP? Some PD viewers can't handle 24 bit files and they don't talk to the Ham-E.
As a new upload? Thanks.
Ham-E White!
Message #28361
Ham-E White! Look'n good, no flickers or speckles.
I've tried giffing some of these and sorry to say they just lose so much. I use the smaller file size 320X400 but to be honest some of them look much better larger. Going down to 256 colors unless you design your art that way is a come down.
Transmit Time!
Message #12274
I'm using AZComm and as such don't have Compuserve upload file transfer choices. Xmodem took better than an hour to transmit a half meg file, it gave me an estimate of about 1/2 before I began the transmission. What should I be using here? If AZComm doesn't have the correct…
Another pic
Message #28285
Ben, Left another picture in AmigaArts, Copperblob.lzh which you can cross-load. Its big 640X480 but shows off IP very well in the bigger screen format.
Well If I had the money, I'd do it differently. One of my problems is that I have a lot of peripherals and I was moving off of my 1000. I wanted to keep everything I had. I looked at powerup but for a A3000 with a decent processor speed…
Well if the sky is the limit in terms of what you can spend $$$. I saw the '40 boards at AmiExpo …yes they are fast. However I just don't hve the budget and the Ham-E and IP at least let me get there. As far as the ray-tracing goes,…
IP Painting
Message #28208
R.Satoh, Haven't forgotten your E-Mail, just needed time to compose a reply. Here goes. Yes my Iguana is all hand drawn. Came together very quickly compared to my other art projects. I digitize lots of things with the Digiview and sometimes create textures in other paint programs. It is faster…
Gradient banding
Message #27982
Ben, Little puzzled here. I looked a pic that I made some time back, Diadem.24 wherein I used the gradiant color fill that is in the process panel, not the one under paint. I was using an earlier version of IP then. Don't know which one. Well anyway, the background…
Do whatever you want with it contrast wise. I have two 1084 monitors and they are quite different. One is definitely more brilliant than the other. I have friends with Sonys, Necs whatever and some of those monitors are really weird, green black backgrounds etc. Since I build up the…
Drew that Iguana alright. No digitizing while I did it. I do use lots of clip fills from digitized whatever, his skin is greyscale spots from a clip art book and other parts are from a close up of a starfish. Never would you suspect!!! Not bitching about the jaggies…
Most of the time I using rub-thru on identical sized screen so coords for one should get things in position to take the clip on the next one. That's what I need.
Remembered I have aquarium at home here on disk. Will check.
Unless I'm missing something, greyscale is 256 shades no? We aren't wealthy enough for a four color layout.
Which fish?
Got a flash that maybe Giffing it is the way to go. Once in Mac land it can be degiffed and made into a tif which is what PageFaker loves.
My understanding is that Photoshop does not support the full 24 bit IFF images. I have a friend who is a graphic's designer at Broderbund. She uses Photoshop all day long and "back-ports" her images to VGA compatible resolutions. She has horror stories to tell about hungry Alpha channels gobbling…
Saved by IP?
Message #27804
Ben, You sort of implied that ImageMaster/IP will have different savers. I'm in desparate need here of an awful TIF saver so I can take my greyscale stuff to the Macintosh. We use PageBaker for the Macintosh to layout the newsletter. Screens and such need to be applied over there…
I'm lazy about Rexx. I've got it together to make a hot key toggle between, luma display, quickie color and the Hi-Q Ham-E display. You want to write me a rexx macro that will do the coords? I'd rather be painting then reading my rexx manual and the bazillion rexx…
Sold, leave me name and address etc. so I can send you a check.
Newtek Digiview 500
Message #33088
Am looking for either a Newtek 500 Digiview or the Newtek gender changer A1000>500. Newtek wants $81.00 and my A1000 hardware for the "upgrade". If you have one, want to sell, leave a mess.
Yes, works real well with things that need to be composited and then giffed. I have a Mavica and I'm using it to upload items to the crafts forum here. I use the DCTV zipper correction with the BBelt IP program. Takes the stepping right out, then I use dynamic…
I got it at Whole Earth Access, electronics chain here. I don't think it allows you to get as close as the Zapshot, only 5 feet but Sony no Balony.
I bought a Sony Mavica here in the SFBay Area for $200.00. For a point and shoot camera, that's enough to pay. I bo rrowed a friend's color splitter and am using the Digiview on my 1000. To make a long story shorter, I have to run the 1000 on…
Hi Ben, here because I'm here. I've been working with the DCTV zipper filter and my Mavica. Read a reasonable explanation of what type of image I'm getting in August 91 Publish, talks about how these still cameras work. Well the DCTV Zipper removal helps a lot. Did you get…
Well, I'll try almost anything but it is bizaare.
GVP gave me some instructions from their support BBS. However because I can't reach their support during Eastern hrs on land lines, its been awkward. They recommended running two shells, try Binddrivers first, then FaaastPrep. Problem is Binddrivers hangs my 500 and I can access the other shell to run…
If I boot from the floppy, I have to toggle the autoboot switch down on the drive. The Fasstprep software does not show or recognize the Harddrive. It sees my controller and flops but no harddrive. If I boot with the autoboot switch up and flop in DF0:, the machine…
#Help-Harddrive Problema
Message #30258
Here's a weird one. I bought a used GVP external drive for my Amiga 500. Installed it, got it going. The person who sold it to me put a barebones system on it, two partitions. The drive has the fasstrom installation, the Amiga has the updated roms. I was attempting…
Well my other problem is that even though I have a hard drive I want the run the system floppy only. My harddrive is obviously not autoboot. So what I found out is that you need to put your WB in your other floppy and IBMDos in the internal drive.…
Well I had two problems, one is that my old Commodore 5.25" would not access the extra ram that I have. There was some obscure mention of that in the IBem docs. If I put a program disk in the 5.25" I'd get a statement like, "program too big for…
