Chris, < 32-bit AVI loaders & savers with frame rate control.> OK, I bite. What's a 32 bit AVI (24 bit AVI with the alpha channel maintained?)? Andrew

Al, Is your son's platform Mac or PC? Is your budget $200 or $3000? Is 8 bit color sufficient or is 24 bit necessary? Is the end result to be played back on computer or output to video tape? Animation programs basically break down into 2D and 3D programs. The…
#142391 Premiere and PAR Message #142406
Don, Thanks. I'll give you a call after the holidays. Andrew
#142114 #Premiere and PAR Message #142249
I'm strictly amateur, falling into a category I call "serious hobbiest". I have had a few animations spill over into some presentations I've given as part of my work (I'm a physician). I live in Deerwood and work in Riverside. Mostly, I'm interested in seeing how the PAR works in…
#Premiere and PAR Message #141891
Don, Are you in Jacksonville, FL (as Jamie Carr's reply implies)? I ask because I live in Jax, FL. I've been seriously considering buying a PAR but I like to see a first hand, real life demo before I shell out that kind of money. Haven't been able to find…
ER Message #1829
Dan, Always happy to offer my opinion. Andrew
#1764 ER Message #1808
Dan, PMJI, but having used ER, PhotoMorph, and Morph for Win, and not being connected to any company, I thought I might dive in and give my unbiased 2 cents worth. ER allows you to morph or warp unlimited areas, each with their own speed (which doesn't have to be…
Jason, I've got ER for Windows and it's just an outstanding program. Nothing in the PC arena comes close. Two questions though. First, have I missed something or does it not do field rendering? Right now, to make my animations just a little smoother, I bring the sequential Targa files…
#125013 Best Morph Package?? Message #125113
Photomorph is a remarkable program for the price. But IMHO, Elastic Reality is the best morphing/warping/compositing/DVE generator in the PC market. Both will do morphs between two sequences of multiple frames. I've not timed them, but my impression is that ER has a faster rendering engine. Andrew
#113173 PAR Message #113226
Don, Thanks for the info. I'm trying to find a weakness in the PAR that would justify my NOT shelling out $$ for it but I can't seem to find one. My purpose is for hobby level animations (although I do take my hobbies seriously). The MAX would be too…
#PAR Message #113151
A couple of quick questions for the PAR crowd: 1) I have 2 IDE HD's in my system now, neither of which is suitable for use with a PAR. Would I have to trash one of them to accommodate the PAR and its HD? (I suspect yes, and I'm hoping…

Don, Basically, I think we agree. In my book, none. But I bought a Beta VCR because of its technical superiority over VHS. Ultimately, market share rules.
From: Andrew Weinstein Amiga Vendor Forum · NewTek June 13, 1994 11:24 PM
Don, PMFJ, but < is there anything inherently better than an Amiga for the Toaster or LW?> The issue is strictly one of market size. Make LW available for the PC and its potential market has just grown exponentially. It's got nothing to do with what's the "best" platform, just…
#Composer vs X2 Message #77709
From: Andrew Weinstein Amiga Vendor Forum · Impulse March 26, 1994 9:33 AM
Mike, PMBI, but I'm curious. What does Composer do with alpha channels that the X2 extension of Painter doesn't?. I've found Painter with X2 to be absolutely outstanding for compositing and X2 is $90 (as an add on to Painter) vs $$$ for Composer.
#88601 Animator Books Message #88863
If you've got a copy of the book left I'd love one. Just send me an address where I can send the check.
Videola Message #87736
Animation is a hobby of mine. I'm looking for a good way to go from VGA to video tape. I know there are many options but those with good results are a little too costly for me to justify (DPS PAR comes to mind). I recently saw an ad for…
#87205 Animator vs. AniPro Message #87409
Nik: Thanks for the info. Andrew
#Animator vs. AniPro Message #86930
OK. So bundled with my "multimedia" ccomputer was Autodesk Animator. In the past few months I've found it to be an excellent little animation program. Knowing that Animator Pro is around, I have 2 questions: 1- What does AP offer that's missing in AA? Convince me that AA is a…
#82105 last-image file Message #82434
John: They are .prj files. Does that make a difference? No CD ROM (yet!) so I copied them to floppies & from there to my HD. Anyway, her tutorials are worth this (very) minor annoyance. Since I have an unrelated "day job" the only chance I get to work on…
#82056 last-image file Message #82433
JKJ: Lacking a CD ROM I copied the files used for the 3DS Applied tutorials on to floppies and from there into the appropriate subdirectories. These are project files (*.prj). Does that make a difference? Whenever I leave 3DS to look at 3D.set all is as it should be but…
#81775 last-image file Message #81943
Richard: Good thought. I had forgotten such a button existed. But I checked and the save last image button is still on. See my response to John T. though for how oddly it seems to behave.
#81758 #last-image file Message #81942
JKJ: "Are you out of or low on disk space?" 125 megs left but thanks for the thought. Andrew
#81744 #last-image file Message #81941
"How much disk space do you have left?" 125megs so that ought not be the problem. Curiously, it seems to happen only when I load meshes or flics from Nancy Fulton's 3D Applied book. But when it does happen it won't render *any* last image, even one not from the…
#last-image file Message #81710
All of a sudden I'm getting an "unable to create last-image file" whenever I render something. Everything else works fine and I wasn't getting this message before today. I'm just learning 3DS, plodding through the tutorials, so I'm clueless as to what happened. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance,
#78983 Fractal Painter Message #79243
Marion: I'm with you Todd. I have a Calcomp DB II and like it alot. Tilt and Bearing have never worked in Painter though. Discussed this with both Calcomp and FD tech support on many occasions. Last I spoke with Calcomp (about 4 months ago), they FINALLY acknowledged that it…
I just started learning 3DS; a true novice. If your book would not be too advanced for the likes of me, how does one go about ordering it? Lost in the mesh,
