Joseph: Did you increase the detail level to the max? Also, when loading the surface, use the largest smoothing angle. Alfonso
Jonas: Can I use my WACOM ArtZ tablet with 3DS4? If so, how? Alfonso
#156219 #IPAS & lib17 Message #156253
From: Alfonso Hermida Autodesk Multimedia Forum · IPAS Usage February 28, 1995 7:05 PM
Jonas: Have you had a chance to try out the IPAS that I sent you? I haven't sent you the latest because I haven't heard from you. Alfonso
John: Those images that you did are EXTREMELY cool! Have you thought of writting articles for 3D Artist magazine? It would be awesome to read about the "making" of that image. Alfonso
Cool! what's the image's name? Is it here? Alfonso
Can you be more specific? What card do you have? can you do a screen capture and send it to me? Alfonso
Thanks for reminding me of the shader! I new I was forgetting something! Alfonso
I'm trying to get the PXP finalized so it can be distributed. I don't have any dates on hand right now 🙁 Alfonso
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep everyone here posted on Blob Sculptor for 3DS. Alfonso
Are there any Blob Sculptor users out there? What kind of models do you create with it? Any comments/suggestions? The Blob team has already ported Blob Sculptor to run as an IPAS (PXP)….the AXP should come out soon. Alfonso
#146795 #hair / fur wish Message #146843
From: Alfonso Hermida Autodesk Multimedia Forum · Wishlist January 15, 1995 10:02 AM
There's a paper on SIGGRAPH where hair is modeled as very thin cylindrical beams, which are modeled physically, i.e., gravity has an effect on them an pulls them down. Needless to say, they used a large amount of them to create hair effects on human models. Alfonso
#145075 #Locating Dialogs Message #145142
I forgot to explain what I use it for, so it will be easier to understand the code. If you have 4 viewports on the screen (screen dimensions are MAXX and MAXY) the area to your right which is empty has the dimensions (assume the viewports are square and of…

Jonas: I developed this code to handle the dialog location. I have to thank Stefan Didak who gave me a hint on how to code it. // assumptions: // 1) Dialog was created with upper left corner at origin // 2) center of Dialog will be positioned to the right…
#145005 Locating Dialogs Message #145019
I agree. If you have viewports that need to be displayed at the same time as the dialog, a function such as put_dialog_at(x,y) is needed badly. Alfonso
#Locating Dialogs Message #144921
Does anyone know how to create an IPAS4 function to position a dialog anywhere on the screen? I'm looking for something similar to center_dialog() but with some added functionality like: put_dialog_at(x,y) where x,y is the new location of the dialog box. Alfonso P.S. I tried modifying the Dialog structure, but…

I think the problem you experienced when the camera "flipped" is due to the camera being in a position where the software can't calculate a single orientation but there's an infinite amount of orientations that would apply….this is called a "singular" point. Imagine that you have a camera right on…

The Windows version of the blob modeler hasn't been updated in a while and the file format is not compatible with the current DOS version. Also, it doesn't have cone/cylinder component shapes. If you can live with that, then please use it. I would like to hear your comments on…

Max: What have you tried to do with the Blob modeler? Are you aware that I posted the latest version a little while ago? (version 2.0a). I would appreciate your feedback. Alfonso
Hope you find it useful! Alfonso
I just posted BLOB2A.ZIP in the Autodesk 3D Studio Lib. It fixes a bug in the selection process. Here's the blurb: ————————————— Blob Sculptor 2.0a for DOS. NOISE_I.PXP IPAS Message #136858
Hi! I uploaded an image (I think it's named DEFORM.GIF) which shows a letter and a Gsphere being deformed using a "homegrown" IPAS – NOISE_I.PXP. I would really like to hear your comments on it. Alfonso
One of the features the IPAS needs is the ability to be able to select specific vertices. Right now you can only select a complete objects. Not having this functionality forces me to create a 3D window from within the IPAS and create my own routines to select vertices, right?…
