Thanks for the explanation, Martin. But I sure wish it would be possible to just click "Conform to Path" button and make it work. I use Imagine 3.2 and it has that function, but misses many others. >> Andrey
#Conform to path?
Message #176322
Is it possible to conform an object to a path as it is moving along it? For example, a snake slithering along a path?
>>Now I have the best of both worlds thanks to your nifty little program. Thanks for writing it.> Andrey
>>The resulting group it produced was excellent and I uploaded an image done with the resulting object called dvsgol.jpg in new images. Your program performed flawlessly.
#3DS-to-Imagine converter
Message #11931
Hi, I just wondered if anyone had any comments on my 3DS-to-Imagine converter. -= Andrey =- ZIPtag * "Apple" (c) Copyright 1767, Sir Isaac Newton
>>Finally! I was hoping you would after reading this thread.>BTW, do you now break up objects that would exceed Imagine's edge count limit?
>>As for PD or shareware, there is no direct route. The closest you can come to is 3DS->DXF->Imagine DXF import. Check out WC2POV.ZIP over in GRAPHDEV for a windows utility.
>> The acting really got me. All of a sudden they could all act, and well. I find my self not even caring if there is not a lot of computer animation anymore.
Charles, Did you happen to catch the Babylon 5 episode on 5/7? I thought it was a great way to tell the story this time – through the lens of a news camera. It was unusual, to say the least, but it worked great. -= Andrey =- ZIPtag * Shell…
>>I picked up a great little freeware program called "SAW" (System Analyser for Windows) that reports on the status of your entire machine.
>>Sorry you had a bad experience with them, mine wasn't that bad.
>>Design Painter: it has an automatic method of creating seamless tiles while you're painting! For me, at least, it's not a replacement for Photoshop, but a wonderful addition.

#Scaling bones
Message #11106
Greg, Right now the scaling the bones does not affect the faces that bone should influence, I checked. Is it planned for future versions? This feature can make certain types of animations much easier – expanding and contracting muscles, for example. -= Andrey =- ZIPtag * Cocaine — the thinking…
#PC-to-Mac
Message #166436
I am going to do some animations that will be edited and laid out to the tape on Macs. But it will be broadcast resolution. I am wondering what is the best wa way to transfer TGA or other files to Mac. I could render them to PAR and put…
>>George, and Greg, and Andrey, too. Guess my computer has no sense of humor! Funny it happened to be the last message on the board at the time and I was rung off (properly) by Tapcis. Thanks to you all for the experience.
Virtual Memory
Message #3416
I remember that you posted a description of new features in the Constant Upgrade program up to Imagine 4.0, but I forgot if you were going to implement virtual memory into Imagine. Are you? Please, please, say yes. Andrey >very happy customer
Tim, How can you apply Reflectivity brush in Imagine? Andrey

Message #139225
Where can I find the description of 3DS file format?
#Demo
Message #1671
I saw that you uploaded the demo to the forum here. I would like to suggest to you that it might be better to upload it to COMANIM forum, since it fits perfectly there. COMANIM forum is dedicated to computer animation, video, morphing, and high-tech demos. Many more people would…
What kinds of other cool effects do you have up your sleeve? 🙂
PMJI, could you post that comparison in this or GUGRPA forum? I and everyone else would appreciate it. Thanks, Andrey

PMJI, but what is Cobra 275 computer? Andrey
David, I tried using DFV on my new machine to view 24-bit flics and it refuses to work. Says it cannot recognize true color hardware. I have Diamond Stealth 64 with 2M of VRAM and it is VESA 1.2 compatible. Andrey
I am interested. How much? Andrey
Probably, because Dave Mason *is* Mr.Utility… 🙂 Andrey

Message #1248
Mike, Would it be possible to add a gravity option to the fireworks effects in the next revision of Imagine? It seems like a good idea. Andrey
Is Elastic Reality a good program?

flat mirror
Message #123137
Thank you for detailed explanation, Michele. I'll let you know how it goes. Andrey
> Are you moving the camera at all between the times the flat mirror works and > the times it doesn't? Well, it is a still picture, but I think I moved a camera to a different position. Andrey
#Suggestion
Message #647
Mike, Just a quick suggestion for improving Imagine. It would be nice to use left ALT key when working in Imagine, because for many people it's hard to both hold the mouse in the right hand and stretch the left hand trying to hit ALT-2. Andrey
> Do you have any objects that penetrate the AFR faces? No, I don't think so. Andrey
Alan, I did apply the material to the selection of coplanar faces. Sometimes, it works, sometimes it doesn't, that's why I wondered if the angle of lighting influenced anything. Andrey
#flat mirror
Message #121976
I have made an auto-reflect material with Flat mirror option, but it does not seem the objects that I need. Is there a particular angle of lighting that makes it work? Andrey

What graphics tablets does 3DS support? Andrey
Ok, thanks for the info. Have you heard anything about Columbia College in Chicago? I heard that it has good animation program and they also have about ten SGI machines. If anyone could give me more info on that or any other college, I would appreciate it.

Send message to imagine-request@email.sp.paramax.com and put subscrube in the subject line. That should do it.
Textures
Message #81248
I have noticed that the descriptions of some texture (I do not mean the light textures), are absent from the TEXTURE.TXT. Are you going to upload them here? Also, are you planning a fix disk? If so, when will it be available?
memory problem
Message #81130
I don't know if this is a bug or just a problem. I have a scene set up in the stage editor and have 4,370,000 bytes of memory left. After I load an object that has only 18 faces, the amount of free memory is 3,700,000. Why? Andrey
Yes, I did. I just did not have the time to give you a call. Can you tell me your price by E-Mail?
Morphing texture
Message #80776
I want to create to objects with different textures and then morph between them. Here is what I do: I create first object, assign a texture to it, lock the texture to the DEFAULT state. Same thing for the other object. When I try to morph them, only the shape…
> Soon we will have a complete SPLINE editor, you will love it. That would be great! You mean like spline modeling and the stuff?
What will be on the fix disk and when are you going to send it out?
