Don, Your best bet is to GO GRVENB and check with HSC directly. If it's one of their products, they should have info in their library on it, or a thread discussing benefits and problems. Matt

Josh, I am _very_ impressed with Imphobia. It's one of the cleanest virtual mags I've seen. If this group comes up with any position papers or such for submission to Imphobia, let me know so I can offer the promotional text I have here in adjunct. We have the ability…

Nils, CompuServe supports the full 127-character ASCII set – characters from 128 to 255 are _not_ ASCII but are subject to interpretation based on the code page and platform you're running on. Good news, though: CIS supports the Latin-1 character set for extended characters such as umlauts, and has done…

Joel, Not at all. There's a wide variety of unZIP utilities for the Macintosh, and the newer ones are just as good as the ones on the PC end. For now, GO MACFF and search on the keyword UNZIP for programs newer than mid-1993. This will help ensure the 2.04…

George, I've never heard of it. Downloading is an activity you perform on your computer to access files in our libraries. Do you require assistance with that end of the process?
From: Matt Drury Computer Animation Forum · AVI Videos November 9, 1994 11:25 AM
Leon, VFW11D.EXE – 1.1d – is the newest version to my knowledge. It should also bring along an enhanced Media Player to enable you to take advantage of the new formats and codecs.

Better than what? We use no more than 10% of our brain capacity, right? I have to spread that 10% through 27 forums each morning, all without the benefit of a caffeine injection. Perhaps when I wake up I'll take a second look.

OS/2 users with version 2.11 or later of the OS have Indeo support built in – which is what is needed to display these files. Check your docs for the details. If you need to unzip them, the most popular ZIP unarchiver is PKZIP, found as PK204G.EXE in the "Compression/UU"…

John, The focus of this workgroup is to create demos in the style of "Future Crew" which push the limits of current hardware. Using a standard format such as Flx may be more portable and widespread, but not offer the slickness that direct coding can.

Matrox had a wonderful display of MPEG hardware at SIGGRAPH this year. You may want to GO GRVENB and check out the Matrox section (#16), also posting a question to them for further, detailed assistance. Janet Matey (Marketing Manager, Video Products Group) is the lady we talked to in August.…

Merce, The RAW format seems to be the most in demand here, due to its compatibility with POV-Ray and other applications. DXF is by no means a must, though I would listen to the people here who use these programs. Thanks for the contribution!

As long as the file is appropriate to both groups, and does not really have a good, solid focus relating to either place, it's okay to upload to the two forums. We prefer to avoid duplicate files whenever possible, but in some cases it's unavoidable.

David, What you're describing is an addition rather than a change. If all that is needed is a repository for 3D models (I assume you mean DXF files and the like) I'm certain we can accomodate you.
